20.01.2022 L01 fall short of title The day had arrived, but so did the showers. Overnight rain and some in the morning meant the pitch was damp and tacky. Some drying from nature and man saw play get underway at 1:30pm. Rockets won the toss and opted to bat. An opening batsmen played some expansive shots to see them off to a brisk start. Robb found his grove and removed the other opener, Joshna taking a simple catch. 2 overs later, the same combination removed the key batsmen, which Jos...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Weekly Wrap: Round 4: Madhan Tons Up! A Grade: After a blinding start - 2/0 off 0.5 overs, Goonie, Joshna and Sanj batted really well on officially one of the worst decks in ATCA. Led my Manesh's 52, saw FUCC's post 175. With the Ball, we started OK, but Lutheran got away from us. That was until the 'all rounder' Simon Potger got the top scorer out. Robb came on with Sanj and cleaned up the tail. Robb finished with 4/28 and Sanj 2/28. Potty's direct hit run out from the bound...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Weekly wrap: Round 2 - A grade make it 2 from 2. We won the toss and sent the opposition in. Robb Muirhead and Justin Macey bowled really well, denting the opposition's top order. Robb finished with 2/27 and Macey 3/43. Jayden Reid came on and bowled the house down, despite the skipper dropping an absolute sitter at gully. 2 balls later, Josh Evans took a blinder at first slip to clean up the mess! Reidy finished with 2/21 and Revan Sanjeev Mendis finished with 3 wickets. ... Set a target of 108, We cruised to victory with Evans (22), Joshna (32*) and Esala (30) ensuring an early finish. B Grade: The skipper lost the toss again and was sent in on a damp wicket again - 2 weeks in a row! We struggled with the bat, grinding out 94. Noman, Gigs and Ravi batted well. Lewis Michael Rayner opened the bowling and was simply unplayable. 9 overs, 5 maidens 0/11. Richard Lang came on and made the first break through, then Ravi Rawat took the next. They were cruising at 2/54 at drinks. An amazing direct hit run out by Lewis gave us a spark that we needed. Langy took another, then Barnsey created another run out. Ravi took another and Langy took an athletic caught and bowled to see us get very close. Unfortunately, the tail got home at we lost. 25 more runs would have seen us win. I was proud of the effort, spirit and attitude of the group and we never gave up. I promise I will get the toss right soon! Special thanks to Luke Chesson for filling in for us! C Grade: We put the opposition in and got off to a good start, Senthil got the key batsman, but it was Samir who was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4/19. Some loose bowling saw them score 144. A shaky start with the bat saw us lose early wickets. Some good middle order batting from Rauf, Asad and Rizwan saw us reach 9/117 - but we never were in the race. A brilliant catch by Abbas and great bowling by Samir were the highlights. Work to do on all 3 aspects. D Grade: Not much to report, bowled out cheaply and the opposition got it easily. Thanks to Patto for filling in! Make sure you get to training tomorrow and get to the Tonsley Hotel Thursday and Saturday nights to support our major sponsor. Thanks to Flinders University Sport & Fitness, Steve Murray MP, Member for Davenport and ZK tax and business solutions

14.01.2022 Weekly wrap: Round 3 A grade: A top of the table clash saw us sent in to bat. Josh Evans was his usual swashbuckling self, scoring a quick 34. Simon Potger continued his excellent start (3 50’s in a row) to finish on 74. Good support from Goonie, Joshna and Macey. A less than ideal total of 165. We bowled well and controlled the game, with contributions from all the bowlers. Mr cricket was great in picking up the key batsmen and a awesome run out. A grade are 3 from 3 and hav...e played some top teams. Keep it up boys . B Grade : we won the toss and sent Marion in. A steady start saw us start well, with Mark Flaherty pick up the first wicket. The overs 10-20 saw them score 60 runs with no wickets. At 1/95, returning fucc Dhan Uswatte come and bowl tightly, with no luck. Micko came on and kept it tight at the other end. Micko picked up both set batsmen. A very funny run out by Stuart Gigney was the highlight! They finished on 5/177, which was a good result considering the start. With the bat, Mathew Pereira (47) and Kirat Bakshi (57) put on 104 for the 2nd wicket and gave us a sniff. Some key wickets trying to accelerate saw us 7/147. Some late Ravi Rawat (25) fireworks saw us have a chance, but a great last over from their skipper saw us fall short by 2 runs. 0/3 is not ideal, but good signs. C grade: a great team performance saw us post 7/241. Even contributions from Abbas (28) Iqrar (31) Syed (36) and Rasheed (18) with Madhan Murasoli (64) smashing the ball to all parts. With the ball, we dominated with Dawood 2/23 and Syed 4/16 destroy the opponents and bowl them out for 86. Great to be on the winners list. D grade: we won the toss and put them in. The good Langdon (2/13) and Al (1/22) bowled wells down put the pressure on the top team. The stand out was Saheb Ghosh who effectively ended the game with 5/10. Omer cleaned up with 2/2. Even contributions from the bat, with Ghosh top scoring with (24). Good bounce back. 3 wins out of 4 is good. Aiming for 4 out of 4 this week. Get to training tomorrow and to the Tonsley Hotel for selection. Please support our sponsors Steve Murray MP, Member for Davenport, ZK Tax and business advisory services and Flinders Sport.

13.01.2022 Round 1 wrap: Potty passes a milestone. A Grade: After being put into bat, we made 6/229. Josh Evans made a brisk 44. After Josh was dismissed, Simon Potger came to the crease and made 58. In the process passing 6000 runs for Flinders University. An amazing achievement and puts him 1150 behind the doyenne David Brown. Guest player Matt Herrmann made a brisk 59 and Rohan Joshna made 27. With the ball, a good team performance saw us restrict a strong opposition to 174. Robb Mui...rhead got 3/25 and Esala de Livera 3/32. A good solid win. B Grade: A trip to Rostrevor saw a damp deck. We lost the crucial toss and was sent in. Debutante Mark Noman got us off to a quick start making 22. Both openers were run out. Debutante Justin Lodge showed class and determination in tricky conditions. 2 further run outs and unlucky dismissals saw us post 92. Matthew Barnes showed great concentration making 34. With the ball, Tyson Cretan got 2 wickets and Ravi Rawat got the other. Special mention to Mark for a great low catch and Justin for almost taking a bullet at bat pad. Great spirit was shown and we didn't give up. C Grade: We were also sent in on a wet deck and made 97. Rauf Choudhry was the best with the bat with 39. Debutante Samir took 2 wickets and Richard Lang the other. Unlucky start but plenty to work on. D Grade: Winning the toss and batting saw us post 152. Saheb Ghosh top scored with 43 and Adrian Paley 27. The star with the ball was Matt Langdon - who bowled 9 overs, 5 maidens 4/7! Some stubborn batting from the opposition captain saw them get close. Jay Chabria came on and took 2 key wickets. A tight over and good fielding saw us win by 1 run! Too close for comfort! Not a bad start, 2 wins and two losses on wet decks. Some basics to work on at training this week. This Saturday is T/20 - 1st team at Cabra, 2nd team at Pultney Grammar school - Morgan Oval at 1pm. Let Micko know if you're available. Make sure you get to Tonsley Hotel after the game and ZK Tax for all your tax needs

13.01.2022 Weekly wrap: rd 8 - part 2 L06 Vs PAOC We lost the toss and was asked to bowl first. Dawood and Rizwan started of really well with Dawood finishing his 9 overs with 4 wickets and 4 maidens. Samir, Mark, Ibby and Fahad bowled very tight and restricted the opposition to 9/110 off 40 overs. With our batting, Fahad and Abbas gave us the usual fast start - 39 off 3 overs. The first wicket fell for 66 - Abbas finished with 57 with 9 fours. He was very close to red ink but got bowle...d by a beautiful delivery. We won by 7 wickets which put us third on the ladder. 08.01.2022 Go FUCCs! 1’s 4-0

07.01.2022 Semi Finals: A grade progress, but C and D grade fall A Grade: The skip lost the toss and Kensington batted first on a great deck. Some decent stroke making and some loose bowling saw Kensington get off to a flyer. At 6 runs an over, a big score was on the cards until Robb removed the opener. Almost immediately after, FUCC struck again with a crisp run out by Esala and Manesh. Esala came on and picked up our third. Macey came on and bowled really well and was eventually rewar...Continue reading

06.01.2022 FUCC Cheer Squad featuring Max @ Cabra Dominican College oval - T20 Match against Goodwood.

05.01.2022 Weekly wrap: T/20 round 2. On a rainy, overcast day, Revan Sanjeev Mendis finally managed to win a toss as captain. The good luck may have been brought on by 'forgetting' the FUCC premiership jacket! Goodwood was put in to bat and struggled from the start. The good Langdon Matt Langdon(2/16) and Robb Muirhead (1/18) were right on the money like young athletes that they are. Justin Macey bowled well (2/26) and Lewis Michael Rayner was great finishing with (3/22).... Chasing 126, Simon Potger continued his great form before having to retire hurt on 51 - an innings which saw 5 sixers and 4 fours. Robb came in at 6 and managed to take us home with 40* - proving he is a top order batsmen! FUCC's won easily in the 16th overs. great convincing win for the Fucc's who progress to the next round. The second team won the toss and bowled first. The skipper Ibby Leo Chehade took an early wicket, followed by another the next over. 2 solid batsmen came to the crease and put on 80. Micko turned back the clock with 4 overs, 0/13 and was unluckily not to have 2 wickets. Some inspired captaincy saw Ibby throw the ball to Justin Justin Lodge who took his first FUCC wicket. Not satisfied, he took 2 more for good measure and finished with 3/17. With the bat, we started well. Husnain Bhatti (27) was doing Abbas things and Shernon Goonewardena (31) was smacking the ball to all parts. After 10 overs, we were on track at 2/71. Some key wickets saw us stumble and be bowled out for 104 against some quality opposition bowling. We had some fun but beaten by a quality team.
