25.01.2022 High five moment for Kirsty this morning who has only been training with me for a couple of months and could not even perform a leg raise when we first started. Today she completed 3 sets of 10 knee grab sit ups. The look on her face when she realizes that she can do this says it all! Well done Lovley lady

21.01.2022 With the kids back at school so is the stress of 'what to pack for lunch?!'. Here are some simple lunch box swaps. When building your kids lunch here are some quick tips to consider: 1. Choose foods from the 5 food groups - wholegrain, vegetables, fruit, meat/meat alternatives, dairy/dairy alternatives.... 2. Leave out the 'sometimes' foods such as chips, chocolates and lollies. 3. Pack a main lunch that consists of protein, whole grain. 4. Add some vegetables/salad and fruit. 5. Add some snacks such as plain popcorn, fruit, yoghurt, fruit bread, boiled egg, homemade muffin. 6. Pack a frozen drink to keep any cold items cold. See more

15.01.2022 -THE HUNTER REGION FITNESS ROUNDTABLE- This week I asked four local fitness professionals a question in an effort to share their small business, knowledge and e...xperiences working in the fitness industry. A big thank you to everyone involved for their time and enthusiasm collaborating on this project! Q- Why do so many diets fail? So many diets fail because essentially all diets have the same underlying principles; little enjoyment, cut out whole food groups, create a sharp calorie deficit and provide the dieter with no sustainable nutrition knowledge. These factors combined mean that weight loss is generally rapid but short lived due to the unsustainable restrictions and lack of useful knowledge acquired by the dieter throughout the process. Sophie Carter- Fuel Performance Dietetix & Personal Training I believe that so many diets fail because of a, too hard, too fast mentality. Ideally you want to make the smallest changes to illicit results, and you can continue to make these small changes as your body starts to adapt. Cutting a massive amount of your caloric intake straight away will make you lose weight fast, but you’ll end up tired hungry and a much higher chance of ‘failing’ on your diet. Brendan Andrews - Forever Forward Fitness Probably the most frequent problem i come across is trainees making it more complicated than it needs to be for body recomp. Those trainees who nail their calorie and protein requirements have most of the hard yards taken care of. Jared Carr - Strength & Body Recomposition Because we put unrealistic expectations upon our selves that these fad diets are going to be the answer to our problems, rather then changing unhealthy habits for healthier options that fit within your individual lifestyle. As what works for one doesn't work for all. We are all different you need to find what works for you and your lifestyle and training demands. Ashleigh Elizabeth Cumins- Ashleigh Newburn’s Personal Training Thankyou for giving me this oppurtunity If you liked the insight presented in this post please give it a Like or a Share

06.01.2022 *no affiliation with VPA Australia. Ok guys let’s talk supplements, whether you take them or not is a personal choice which takes into consideration many factors such as your sporting or training goals. One thing I teach my clients is to read the nutrition labels on not only foods but also supplements. How many ingredients are in a product?, do you understand what the heck any of the ingredients actually are? Do the ingredients support the claim or benefit made by the manufac...turer? If you are competing at an elite level or undergo drug testing for employment does the supplement contained banned substances? What I do like and recommend in a supplement is: 1. Australian Company 2. Minimal ingredients 3. Minimal Additives or fillers 4. No BS claims 5. Informed Sport Listed If your chosen supplement brand doesn’t tick these boxes I suggest you throw your money at something that does. Cheers VPA love your stuff
