16.01.2022 How Much Food Is Enough? Tip #2 At Yummies we support kids to get enough to eat by providing enough food for each child to have their fill from a delicious & nu...tritious variety of foods, but we know that in reality it isn't always easy! On our theme of helping you to help the children in your care eat the right amount for them. Here's the second tip... TIP #2... Choose a location for eating which is calm, inviting and that allows children to focus on the food and not on other distractions such as TV, toys and tablet devices. Calm quiet music can be a help - add it to your routine to creating meal time zen. If you have any "not enough" or "too much" concerns, please let us know. We're here to help! 16.01.2022 How Much Food Is Enough? Tip #3 Are you enjoying our tips so far to help children in your care eat the right amount for them? We understand that some children ...will need more to eat than others at any given meal or snack time. Here at Yummies we have spent 10 years of gathering feedback from our customers about how much is "enough". Here's tip three... TIP #3... Prepare children for meal and snack times. Help children come to the table as calm and alert as possible and ready to eat. Prepared well, children are more likely to eat the right amount for them. Do this by giving children time to adequately transition from other activities to a meal or snack time. A pre-meal routine can help kids "get ready" and is a chance to develop independence skills like washing hands or helping set the table. If you have any "not enough" or "too much" concerns, please let us know. We're here to help! Look out for Tip #4 coming soon...

15.01.2022 How Much Food Is Enough? Tip #5 Ahhhh... the delightfully unpredictable appetites of toddlers and young children! We hope you've enjoyed our 5 tips to help the ...children in your care eat the right amount for them. Here's the fifth and final tip. TIP #5... Be a positive role model at mealtimes by sitting and eating with the children. The value of being present at the table with children cannot be underestimated. Children usually stay engaged for longer with a known and trusted adult present. They also learn how to behave, how to eat and how to sneak up on new foods and learn to like them. Need a positive response to "Yuck, I don't like it!"? Try "You're still learning to like ......" or "Our tastebuds are always changing their minds. I wonder what will happen next time?" If you have any "not enough" or "too much" concerns, please let us know. We're here to help! The Yummies Team

12.01.2022 How Much Food Is Enough? Tip #4 Yummies provide a mix of commonly eaten and more challenging dishes and ingredients to find a balance between familiarity and fo...od exploration for kids. TIP #4... Always offer a safe food along with other foods they are still learning to like. A safe food is a food that the child will usually, or always, eat. This reduces anxiety for children who are wary of trying new foods and allows them to fill up on "enough" whilst still exploring new foods. If you have any "not enough" or "too much" concerns, please let us know. We're here to help! Look out for our 5th & final tip coming soon... See more
