25.01.2022 This weeks #MahonySmile is Bryant. This young man was offered only jaw surgery by two other Doctors and premolar extraction based therapy from another. We were able to use the Dr John Lin technique, I.E. lower TADS with the Damon system, and achieve a very pleasing outcome. Class III jaws can be treated early, whilst there is growth remaining, if you wish to minimize the need for orthodontic extractions or surgery of the jaw. 25.01.2022 Today's #MahonySmile is Joshua. This young man had impacted canines and a strong lower jaw, which we know as Class 3. Thanks to the expertise of our team here at Full Face orthodontics, we were able to correct the underbite and make room for the upper teeth without extracting. Joshua and his father are extremely happy with the treatment outcome. 24.01.2022 Todays #Mahonysmile is Stanley. Stanley came in for a second opinion regarding the removal of four teeth before he had braces. Using the #Damon system we were to correct his bite by widening the upper jaw, giving him a broader smile and avoiding the need for unnecessary dental extractions. 24.01.2022 Todays #MahonySmile is Arlet This young lady presented to Dr Mahony with a bad overbite and crowding of the upper teeth. She also has small second teeth (lateral incisors). The team at FFO, in conjunction with her general dentist, were able to improve the smile and then utilise composite bonding to help the small lateral incisors blend in with the wonderful new smile. 23.01.2022 This weeks #MahonySmile is Anthony This case demonstrates the benefits of the Damon System in allowing us the treat a difficult case without the extraction of teeth. 22.01.2022 Dr Derek Mahony & Dr Sandy Ghattas have spent their weekend doing their CPD at the Damon Forum in California! Our doctors are committed to providing better services. Learning from the best so they can bring the best to you.

21.01.2022 Todays #MahonySmile is Keith Dr Mahony uses Skeletal Anchors i.e TADS so that he can minimise the need for jaw surgery, when correcting an underbite, for Class III patients. If your child has been told they need a jaw operation, for an underbite, please consider a second opinion regarding the John Lin technique i.e combining the use of TADS with the Damon System. 21.01.2022 This weeks #mahonysmile is Ashley This young lady was referred to my practice by her Ear Nose & Throat Doctor based on her narrow upper jaw and lateral posterior crossbite. Our early intervention involved improving the airway and developing the upper jaw so that when Ashley was old enough for braces the time in fixed braces was very short, as the skeletal problems (Jaw asymmetry) had already been addressed. Ashley, and her mother, are extremely happy with the treatment outcom...e and we wish Ashley all the best for the future ensuring that she keeps wearing her retainer. 19.01.2022 Todays #MahonySmile is Moe Moe had a Class III jaw, i.e a narrow palate and a strong underbite. He’s seen many other clinicians who had discussed removing teeth or waiting till he was older and performing surgery. Using the John Lin technique we at Full Face Orthodontics were able to treat Moe on a non-surgical, non-extraction basis. He and I are both extremely pleased with the treatment outcome. 19.01.2022 This weeks #MahonySmile is Precious. This young lady had severe crowding and bi-dental incisor protrusion. She was treated using a combination of the Damon system and TADS. TADS can be utilized to retract teeth more efficiently than the conventional methods and avoids the need for headgear. 12.01.2022 Todays #MahonySmile is Joshua Joshua sought a second opinion against the extraction of teeth to make room for his dental crowding. Dr Mahony used a combination of an upper jaw expander and a lower jaw advancer, so that he was able to correct Joshua’s deep bite, and his dental crowding without the unnecessary extraction of premolar teeth. 12.01.2022 This Weeks #MahonySmile is Bailey This young man presented to the practice with a deep overbite and was advised, by another doctor that the problem was due to the upper teeth. The previous treatment plan, offered by another clinician, was to pull the upper teeth back. Dr Mahony immediately realized that the lower jaw wasnt in the right position and he treated this young man without any upper teeth extractions, but rather by bringing the lower jaw forward using a MARA applia...nce. Both Bailey and his mother are extremely happy that A; they didnt have to take teeth out, and B; Her son's profile has improved dramatically. 12.01.2022 There is a big difference between a specialist providing braces, and a general dentist. Look at this segment from a recent ABC documentary, on the costs of braces, by a general dentist (National Average Prices) Please also remember that the best orthodontist in Sydney is not likely to be the cheapest you can find. Comparing prices between orthodontists can be difficult because orthodontists dont usually quote over the phone. Keeping a practice up to scratch, and using t...he latest technology, can add considerably to the cost of providing treatment, which gives a cost advantage to more outdated practices. At Full Face Orthodontics we maintain the highest standards and offer the most advanced technologies A 30 min consultation with Dr. Mahony, which includes X-rays, is billed at $240. If you wish to have a short 5 minute virtual consultation with Dr.Mahony, through the phone, he is also happy to do that at no charge, but it will be at a time that is convenient to our practice. We much prefer you to see Dr.Mahony, in person, at one of our 6 locations. May I ask which location would suit you best? We have practices in Randwick, Parramatta, Neutral Bay, Miranda, Gregory Hills and Hornsby. If you would like to proceed with a phone consultation, please first send photos of the teeth and face to [email protected] and subject it 'Phone Consultation - with your name and contact phone number' If you prefer a live face to face meeting please advise which location suits you the best. We look forward to meeting you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pyiukXacY0&feature=youtu.be See more

11.01.2022 Todays #Mahonysmile is Rachel This young lady had a Class III jaw pattern i.e. a severe underbite. The traditional approach would be to wait until she was older and then perform orthognathic surgery. We at Full Face Orthodontics, however, believe in early interceptive treatment for this type of bite. Rachael was treated very successfully using the McNamara protocol of a Hyrax and face mask therapy. Both Rachel and her mum are extremely happy with the treatment outcome, whic...h has avoided unnecessary extractions and the need for jaw surgery. 09.01.2022 Today’s #Mahonysmile is Alex Alex presented for a second opinion against the extraction of four premolar teeth, as part of the overall treatment plan, presented at another office. We, at Full Face Orthodontics , look at the face to determine whether extractions are required. In Alex’s case the use of the Damon System meant that we could align his teeth, on a non-extraction basis, to give him a fuller profile. 03.01.2022 This week's #mahonysmile is Felicity. This young lady had a severe underbite and, left untreated, would have possibly required jaw surgery. Dr Mahonys philosophy is to correct bites during the growth phase so as to minimize the need for more aggressive treatment later in life. Felicitys case is an example of this as you can see from her photographs; her upper teeth now bite directly over her lower teeth whereas initially they were biting in reverse.
