25.01.2022 UNEXPECTED TOOLS IN SESSIONS // Once I was using a roll and release ball on myself and it occurred to me that I might use this practice within bodywork sessions. Since then when it feels right, I occasionally offer clients an invitation (always optional) to experiment with therapeutic release through massage, incorporating this tool while the massage continues. Some people describe that using one or more roll and release balls within the session gives them a sensory point to ...focus on, and allows the body to relax into that place. Sometimes, I place a ball under the persons abdomen while facing down, which can assist with connecting with the breath, and allow more relaxation in the abdominal region if there is a build up of stress or anxiety. The ball can be also applied on tight muscles, trigger points and myofascial release. : There are some softer balls and juggling balls that I sometimes use with people with disabilities, to encourage playfulness and assist them to engage with reflexes, coordination, balance and fun. From time to time I enjoy practicing a bit of juggling myself! These diverse and unexpected tools can be also incorporated into many movement exercises. Ultimately, over the last decade both the massage and movement sessions I offer have always been evolving to revealing ever-more refined ways of supporting each persons unique body-mind system to achieve a state of health and equilibrium. 25.01.2022 DIVERSITY WITH MOVEMENT//Recently Ive been to an ice skating rink which is not that easy to find in Australia. I usually find great joy in exploring different ways of moving and exercising my body. Being born in Hungary, I had the opportunity to learn to ice skate on lakes (while frozen). From then onwards it was a regular activity for me to do ice skating during winter time. Because of that background eventhough I hardly ice skate anymore I found myself fairly quickly comfo...rtable on the ice. I cant do tricks but I can go fast and change directions with ease. It felt good to be in a flow with the skills that I have. Clients often tell me before a bodywork session when chatting about their exercise routine that, I know that I should be doing more yoga, stretching... For that I normally say, dont worry or pressure yourself about not doing something. Instead, I like to encourage people to relive that pressure and just move their bodies in a conscious, intuitive and natural way with the skills that they already have in the timeframe that is manageable. I think that this can create the possibility to connect with ones own body in a meaningful, beneficial and functional way. Off course I might give more guidance if needed. Later on we can start talking more about adding certain techniques that will support whatever condition might be present at the time. This approach seems more sustainable in my experience then giving out a set of excercises which normally doesnt get done by most people. See more

24.01.2022 I'M VERY INSPIRED BY MY TRAINING IN WOUTAI//I'm currently participating in a two and a half weeks of intensive training of a revolutionary and visionary bodywork called Woutai. It is also called as 'osteo-dance' referring to the fusion of dance and osteopathy. Today the founder Roland Combes described this therapy playfully as the hacking into consciousness through fascia. I'm excited to add this type of bodywork to my sessions at my clinic. @ Sunshine Coast, Queensland

24.01.2022 WHY IS EVERY SESSION DIFFERENT?//When I have a massage myself I really do not like having a routine done to me without any presence. I value to offer sessions with creativity, flow, intuition, playfulness, presence and skill while addressing physical conditions of concern. : I try to step out of the way and aim to have a therapeutic conversation with the body, to find out what would support it best from the variety of bodywork tools I use in my work at the time of the sess...ion. While moving through the range of techniques the aim is to keep coming back to allow the body to let go of tension, and let the therapeutic benefits happen within the body, while staying connected to the process. : The therapy only acts like a guide and reminder for the body to access a natural flow in our body and life. Aiming to give the freedom and empowerment back to the individual, to have a renewed enthusiasm to take care of themselves with the aid of known, and newly learned skills and techniques. See more

21.01.2022 FINDING THE PERFECT FIT// Ive been learning and practicing different types of movement, yoga and bodywork methods for more than a decade. Ive found that any training that I have come across had some parts that were not compatible with my interest or the way I wish to practice or be. So, I had to change and adapt those learnings to make it true for me, which I guess can be a normal learning process. This has now changed, while Ive been studying Wuotai for the two last two w...eeks. This practice responds really well to how I enjoy working, practicing, thinking and feeling. The founder Roland Combes has studied osteopathy, embryology, anthropology, thai massage, acupuncture, I ching, kinesiology, eastern and western philosophy. This practice is also deeply immersed in science, research, testing and results. Meanwhile he is not taking himself seriously. The gestures as he call them came from thousands of hours of practice to respond to what he has felt was missing from what he has learned. Im really keen to do more training in Woutai and add more Wuotai to my practice. Looking forward to get back into my clinic from the 10th of February. See more

21.01.2022 WE ARE ALL THE SAME// I just love the fact that seeing people with diverse abilities in my life and work is completely usual. Im very grateful for the experience of almost 10 years of working with people with different abilities and life experiences through offering therapy, friendship, and care in my work both in my clinic and in-home treatments for people with a disability.

21.01.2022 AN OTHER LOVELY DAY AT THE FOLK FESTIVAL// @sonia_life_and_zenthai and me have been really enjoying being part of this great festival for the last 6 years. We have studied together @zenthaishiatsu with the wonderful @gwynzenthai. Our friendship grows every year by sharing these few days together and with the wonderful people of the festival. It is precious to share sessions with musicians, people from different part of the country/world and the locals. @ Illawarra Folk Festival

21.01.2022 It is always a great session with Cate from @getoffyourasanaaustralia and @yogahiveaustralia

20.01.2022 FIRST TOUCH // Have you ever noticed the way your body intuitively senses the difference in a massage between someone approaching your body with an agenda, OR someone offering you their absolute presence as they meet your body with openness, care and curiosity? The organ of the skin (with all its amazing proprioceptive/sensory awareness - but thats another post) is incredibly perceptive. The nervous system instinctively perceives safety or threat through presence and touch. ...This is just one of the countless reasons why receiving a quality massage is as much about the centred, grounded, safe presence of the massage therapist as it is about the body being treated. This is too often missed in massage training and hence receiving many massages feel like a routine, rather than a tailored offering. If youre curious to experience the profound effects on the nervous system (and thereby the organs and overall health of the body - but thats another post again) of grounded presence through the quality of touch from the first moment of a massage, to the last, bookings are open at my clinic in Woonona. 19.01.2022 DO YOU EXPERIENCE STRESS OR ANXIETY?//Experiencing a safe and relaxing therapy space can allow the nervous system to recalibrate by lowering levels of stress hormones, and increasing feel good neurotransmitters, as well as activating the parasympathetic rest and relax response in the body. Sessions at Full Circle Movement Therapy can focus on physical relaxation, and can also address emotional and mental presentations of distress. Techniques for self-management can also be explored. @ Austinmer, New South Wales, Australia

19.01.2022 CLIENT BEFORE THE SESSION JUST LAYING ON THE MAT: - I already feel so much more relaxed than all week being at a safe and familiar place where I can just be.

18.01.2022 DOGS CAN MEDITATE// It has been taking me a couple of days to settle into a natural rhythm on my holiday after flight, excitment, wanting to do and see things... This morning I woke up before the roosters and walked out through the coconut forest to the beach to see the sun come up. The mixture of beautifully painted changing sky and its reflection on the ocean with the rolling sound of the rocks after every wave was a lovely opportunity to practice my favorite technique free simple meditation. Quietly observe what is (happening) without any goals or wanting to achieve anything. In this experience I was accompanied by one of the local dogs who just peacefully sat next to me with an occasional asking for a pat. @ Jasri Beach

18.01.2022 MEN AND SELF-CARE// I really appreciate working therapeutically with Men. When I see a man who chooses self-care and is willing to take some time off from thinking, doing and working, I quietly celebrate. Some of the professions of the men who attend my clinic regularly include; small business owners, CEO, artist, director, musician, teacher, athlete...the list goes on. Despite the numerous men who break the mould, I observe that women in Australian society tend to be more op...en to taking time - where they can in their busy schedules - for and looking after themselves. When this pattern breaks for a session and a man comes for treatment (much as I appreciate and value working with every person who comes to my clinic regardless of age, gender or ability), I quietly cheer for the courage and clarity of values men show when they override the Australian male tendency to see self-care as indulgent, or womens business, or un-manly. The sessions I offer are fully clothed and function as a form of physical movement therapy, using numerous modalities that result in a stronger, more connected, more flexible and easeful experience in the body. This is most often accompanied by a sense of relaxation and relief from stress. Bookings for yourself or a loved one can be made at www.fullcircletherapy.com.au See more

17.01.2022 MASSAGE FROM A MACHINE// I walked past a shop where they were giving some sort of health talk to people. I stopped for a second and I got invited in. A lady showed me around and there were many different kind of massage and therapy beds. They give free time on the machines to people with serious medical conditions as well as selling the devices. I had a bit of a demo on one of the automated massage table. It was very weird feeling. Made me wonder if a machine can/would ever be able to substitute the human & physical connection, personalised care, movement of the body, changing techniques and pressure all tailored to the individual. For now I think the massage & movement therapy I offer is safe

17.01.2022 IM BACK AT TEACHING GROUP CLASSES// 4-5 years ago I have stopped teaching group yoga classes for a few reasons. One of them is that I wanted to focus on my massage and movement therapy practice where Ive been still offering yoga and exercises in a one on one setting. Recently, a social group that I used to teach classes to asked me if I wanted to come back. After some thinking Ive said yes to them. My practice have changed a lot in the last 4 years as I tend to focus on mo...re body control, natural & functional movement, mobility, joint health, and strengthening. Simple breathing and meditation techniques are also part of the class. Im still using the yoga postures but in a more informed way. I definitely like to have more fun and playfulness in my classes/practice too. So, these mainly retired wonderful people have been enjoying my new way of teaching a group movement class. I have also got inspired to possibly start a public class next year. See more

16.01.2022 IM REALLY GLAD TO SAY THAT, I LOVE MY WORK//Today, when I got asked about how was my day. I was happy to feel and say that I really like my work and also my workplace which is surrounded by bush. When people appreciate the service I offer, then it is even more worthwhile to keep my passion strong for this work.

15.01.2022 TRULY EMBODIED NATURAL MOVEMENT//Ive met Putu at Lake Batur, Bali. She is making souvenirs for tourists as a lot of villagers do. Her friendly, strong, vibrant and grounded presence got me to chat to her. I could not believe it when she said that she is a grandmother and she doesnt know her age. She normally gets dropped off at her stall in the morning and at the end of the day walks back home through the forest which takes her an hour. She also walks up every morning to Mo...unt Batur (1700m) with a basket full of handmade souvenirs balanced on her head to sell them to the tourists on the top. The tourists are there to see the sunrise. She is doing this in her thongs (slippers/sandal). When I asked her why not in shoes, she said that in shoes she has far less control of the strength and grip her feet/toes when sliding or steep. Her shop is located near a natural hot spring and she(and other stall holders) is allowed to go in at the end of the day for a low price. She feels that helps her to keep young :) When she hasnt sold much or anything she thinks, maybe tomorrow. She doesnt do yoga or any other technique to be better, more evolved or transformed. I havent heard her complaining about anything. She just IS. Living a simple life with presence and a lot of movement. Im sure there is much more to her story than this but I was still inspired by her. Such a different way of living from how a lot of people -me included- would live or see life in a privileged western country. In the bodywork and movement therapy I offer, I aim to remind each person to find their own natural embodied connection to their bodies and life somewhat similar to Putus way. 14.01.2022 BASKETBALL AS THERAPY // Many people have something in their life that provides a form of therapy that differs from typical verbal or body therapies. For me, one of these is basketball. Once a week I play with the Fighting Mongooses @ublwollongong . The game is a form of therapy for me in several ways (the person scoring in the video is me). As an independent massage practitioner, team games offer a great way of breaking out of everyday patterns, and replenish my energy for w...orking one-on-one, or alone. I spend a lot of time on the yoga mat and giving bodywork treatments. Basketball helps me to move my body in diverse physical ways that differ from my everyday movement patterns. I also appreciate being part of a larger community who enjoy this game. Before joining this team, however, I hadnt played for over a decade. Because of the time lapse - as well as the nature of the game - Ive had a few injuries since I started again. These experiences of sport-injuries have allowed me to observe an interesting conversation with my own body. Injury has helped me to refine my choices of when to use therapy; movement; relaxation; medicine; rest; or just to keep going. As I listen, take action and stay out of the way to notice the bodys response, I am reminded time and again that the body naturally wants to come back to balance and full health. I have been incorporating all of these therapies and practices into my life for a long time, but playing basketball again is giving me a chance to experiment with applying the tools and practices that I so often share with clients in a different context, which is adding layers of embodied learning for me and my clients. Booking details in my bio or www.fullcircletherapy.com.au

14.01.2022 BECOMING STILL TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN//Today on my birthday walk with @sarahball.yoga.counselling we stopped to listen to the sound of a lyre bird in the bush. We were taken by how its mulitiligualcalling filled up the space all around. This short encounter reminded me of an intention of almost every bodywork session I offer to people. To experience an embodied, simple state of being and stillness, where there is a possibility to listen deeply.

12.01.2022 THERAPIST/YOGA TEACHER UNDERCOVER//On a recent trip to Melbourne I have treated myself to be a participant of a couple of yoga classes. I found it really valuable to be on the receiving end of facilitation. I also enjoyed practicing in ways that is different from my own practice. Being in a class as a long time practitioner and therapist I often find myself observing as an insider but these occasions I chose to be just really appreciative of moving and exercising with a group of people. The classes also reminded me of the value of providing such services -including my own- where people can be in a supportive environment taking actions for their wellbeing. Looking forward to the working week ahead

12.01.2022 FUNCTIONAL RANGE CONDITIONING - MOBILITY SPECIALIST//Recently Ive completed this fantastic training that added some great tools to my practice. Im now passing on these techniques to clients on and off the massage mat at my Austinmer clinic as well as at the movement class I teach with good results. This seminar is a comprehensive joint training system based in scientific principals and research. The key areas of the FRC system are mobility training, articular health & maintenance, joint strengthening, rehabilitation, performance enhancement and body control.

10.01.2022 FORREST GUMP INSPIRED MORNING AKA how can a morning jog turn into a 10km run// (I know for some that distance could be a warm up) Since being on holiday in Bali, other than my simple morning movement/yoga practice I havent done much excercise, so I decided to go for a quick jog nearby. After a while I just wanted to continue running as it was really enjoyable to do it in a new environment like busy main road and shops, rice fields, mountains, volcano, coconut forest and so o...n. Because of this feeling I ended up at the nicest local beach and had a chance to have a swim. As it was fairly early I had the beach to myself along with some locals. Probably because of that some of them wanted to take their picture with me. I was glad to have this experience so hopefully we can be sort of even, as being a tourist normally Im taking the pictures of them. See more

10.01.2022 FINDING THE PERFECT FIT// I've been learning and practicing different types of movement, yoga and bodywork methods for more than a decade. 09.01.2022 THE MAGIC OF NOT STAYING IN A HOTEL//Im really enjoying waking up in the midst of a small Balinese village to the sound of roosters, scooters and kids playing on my holiday. The view of rice paddies, palm trees and a volcano is also a very welcome change from the suburbs I live in Woonona, Australia. Im grateful for the opportunity to be able to stay with local people I know and be somewhat part of everyday life here. There are also very minimal amount of other tourists to be seen which is refreshing for me. (I will be doing some typical tourist things too though later)

07.01.2022 CAN KINDNESS BE CULTURAL?// On my holiday in Bali I have sat with and talked to many Balinese people. Large majority of my experience with them was that they are genuinely caring, kind, happy, joyous, down to earth, welcoming, friendly, accepting of whatever life brings to them, deeply connected with their life, community and culture, go far and beyond to help each other including the tourists, always wishing the best for everyone... Ive been very inspired by that as someti...mes I can get lost in the everyday routine and forget about these simple but essential human qualities. On my first full day back in Australia, I had to take my car to a repair place. My conversation with the man who assessed my car was like this: Nandor, lets look at the car. No greeting, looking at me, introducing himself. When I ask his name he hesitantly says his name and still without making eye contact putting his hand out to the side. I ask him about how he is and the answer is busy/flooded with work. I say that must be good for the business. Him: not for me, this isnt my business. He quickly does his job then leaves without discussing anything with me or saying bye and let an other person to talk about the next step. After leaving my car there, I caught a cab back home.Ive greeted the person with warmth, introduced myself and asking his name. He seemed slightly shocked, looking at me with suspicion but put his hand out for a half handshake. Luckily he warmed up and I found out that he has a passion for cycling and enjoys meeting with lots of different people in his job. In contrast, Ive met Chandri in a small traditional village in Bali.(next picture) She has a very small house with an outside & inside bed & an open kitchen space with a wood fired small cooking spot. She had the best laugh, kind speech joyful appearance. Im wondering if in a privileged country we always want more or better because we know that there could be more or we have the option to even think about it. Maybe we dont stop long enough to have a chance to appreciate what is already there. Like having a job and talking to an other person in a kind way. Lets see how long can I keep up my inspiration @ Wollongong, New South Wales See more

07.01.2022 HOW DO YOU EXCERCISE YOUR PASSION?

06.01.2022 COMPLETE RELAXATION // I often find that one of the most useful tools that I can offer to clients is the experience of full relaxation. This experience can allow the nervous system, physical body and mind to come to their natural state of ease. Within each session there is an intention to offer the experience of wholeness in a fully relaxed way. In order to maintain good health it is essential to regularly be able to switch off, recharge, and take a fresh perspective from the challenges of life situations. Sessions can also include take-home practices and practical tools for daily living.

05.01.2022 TAKING MY OWN ADVICE//I rarely get to lay down on my own massage mat but after a difficult day I felt the urge to rest, center and restore my body. So, after a cancellation, the first time in my new clinic, I laid down and allowed myself to be still. It was very interesting to experience the clients possible perspective. I quite quickly started to relax and listen to the gentle music, wind blowing, birds calling, leaves rattling. Then I imagined that how awesome it would be to receive a session in this setting now on top of what I am already experiencing. I allowed myself to do this for about 45 minutes. I added a bit of breathing and meditation practice to it too. When I got up, I felt recharged, rested and centered. Im so grateful to be able to practice out of a beautiful space like this.

03.01.2022 SURPRISE SOUNDTRACK FOR MY YOGA PRACTICE// This week I came across an album of stunning classical music on Spotify by Ludovico Einaudi - Seven days walking, Day 2. (full album - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ef2OUI8eBQ) I had already known his work, but not heard this particular piece. You know when you stumble across just the right music (or quote/idea) to match your mood in the moment? This music did just that for me. I played it while practicing yoga/freestyle movement ...at home and it created the perfect soundtrack for me as I greeted the morning. Im also touched by the way he expresses his creative process as a composer in this video. I can closely relate to the way he speaks of "losing himself in meditation" when practicing his craft, as this is how I so often feel when I work with people through massage or yoga/movement sessions. Im interested to hear if you had a similar experience with music or other creative modalities lately, and if so...what was it that met your mood so closely? See more

02.01.2022 PROBABLY THE MOST BREATHTAKING VIEW Ive ever seen.

02.01.2022 PHILOSOPHICAL DILEMMA: IS IT OKAY TO OFFER BLOOD AND VIOLENCE FOR RELIGIOUS PURPOSES?// Today, I was in a village at the time of a yearly ceremony for a God called Indra. Big part of the ceremony is a fight called pandan leaf war, when two people fight with leafs with sharp serrated edges. The fight goes on until the sort of referees stop the fight likely because of the amount of cuts, blood or danger for one of the fighters. I didnt wait for this event to start as Im not in...to watching other people getting hurt even if they mean it well and apparently it is for fun. The story of this ceremony sparked a bit of a philosophical thinking in me. How far is it fine to go with violence and pain in the name of tradition, culture, religion, belief, offerings and reincarnation? Would that be equally pleasing for the gods if we pretend and symbolically fight, along with prayers, offerings, laughter, joy and community meals? Im equally confused when I hear that cock fighting, chicken or cows lives offered in a ceremony here in Bali. When a local priest I know tells me that the priests duty is to clear their mind, be peaceful, be kind and compassionate, Im not sure again how does that match up with killing. Ive heard that this is often based on that humans are the most evolved beings on this planet and within a sacred ceremony we can liberate the animals. I personally prefer a non dualistic approach when we see that nothing is separated from each other. Everything is equally part of life. I like the idea of critical thinking with these sorts of things but maybe it is best to follow what have been done for thousands of years to sustain a culture/tradition. I deeply appreciate and accept the Balinese culture, down to earth, community centered, connected way of living. I often feel more at home here than anywhere else. I guess this topic that has been an ongoing exploration by many religions and cultures for thousands of years. Also, this is only a personal reflection being shared, definitely not the ultimate truth. See more

02.01.2022 STOPPING AND NOTICING THE DETAILS// Recently, I went for a short bush walk near my clinic and I have found this face on a tree. Noticing this was an appreciated moment to look, stop, listen, feel and be still. I often do that when I practice bodywork too. I aim to be an observer while using a variety of massage tools throughout a session. The techniques are becoming merely a guides and pointers, allowing the body to experience a sense of feeling well. From that place people can more likely to make choices that are supportive for healing and recovery from emotional or physical imbalance. I am also there if advice is welcomed for practices and exercises. : Click follow is you would like to know more about Full Circle Movement Therapy. Welcome to comment, share or tag friends. 01.01.2022 Mixed-Movement + Massage Sessions for Disability // . Each week I look forward to the session I share with a young man with Autism and his carer. In every weekly session something different and inspiring happens. Our usual structure is to share one hour of mixed movement, followed by half-an-hour of therapeutic massage. In this weeks session we explored yoga, fitness, martial-arts-inspired exercises, movement drills, partner exercises and boxing. We all end up learning fro...m each other (the carer joins the exercise part), as every session is mouldable and the barriers of any disability disappear as we simply exercise together in a playful and explorative way. . Im so grateful to be part of this young mans team and inspired by the great parents and carer who value and encourage this to happen. All sessions are covered by NDIS. Some of the specific benefits observed over the year of working together include: . Better control of feelings of being overwhelmed Build trust, self-confidence, comfort, and safety in his body Experiencing an increase in comfort and allowing/initiating some touch in a paired exercises Share increased verbal and non-verbal communication throughout the sessions Increased strength, flexibility, balance, and ability to relax. . These points, critically, also reduce pressure on carers and family. To learn more about the movement and massage services I offer for disability, see the link in my bio or go towww.fullcircletherapy.com.au Please share with any families or individuals you know in our community who are living with disability and may benefit from these offerings See more
