25.01.2022 You Cannot See Black Ice It generally forms at night, in the early mornings or on sections of the roads that havent been exposed to sunlight. And it is quite common around Ballarat and outlying towns. According to VicRoads motorists should take the following steps to minimise risk.... Check for black ice warnings by visiting VicTraffic or downloading the VicTraffic app Delay your trip if you can to avoid icy conditions. If you have to drive, allow plenty of time and drive carefully. If possible, use a car equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Braking takes longer in icy conditions so always allow for plenty of room between you and the car in front. Slow down and be patient. What To Do If You Hit Black Ice: If you hit black ice, you will have little or no control over your vehicle. Until you clear the patch of ice, use the accelerator, brakes and steering as little as possible. Avoid accelerating, braking hard or turning the steering wheel quickly. If you try to struggle against the ice by braking hard or steering in the opposite direction, you increase the risk of spinning out. DONT FORGET WE ARE CURRENTLY OFFERING A WINTER SERVICE PREP PACKAGE FOR ONLY $39.95
24.01.2022 FAMILY is very important to me. They have always been there for me in the good, bad and ugly times. But most importantly they have always been there to support me. So when I found out my eldest nephew wanted to be a mechanic it was simply fitting that I was able to give him the opportunity. Jaxon is currently Year 10 at Maryborough Education Centre and undertaking his VET Automotive Placement with Full Throttle Mechanics.... If he continues on this path he will be the third generation of my family (dad, myself and Jaxon) that has entered the mechanical industry. Jaxon is undertaking placement on Mondays with us but you will also find him here on school holidays helping and gaining more experience and knowledge.

22.01.2022 This car holds a very special place in our family. It was originally owned by my cousin Rhys. Rhys was a mechanic. He was 18 years old and was spending the day changing the gearbox whilst his parents went on a day trip. When they came home that afternoon they assumed he was still working out the back working on it.... It wasnt until his friend arrived to visit that Rhys was found deceased under his beloved XC in the back shed. Yes, Rhys died doing something he loved - mechanics. That was in 1989. This car has remained in our family since. And was handed down to my Dad following the death of my Uncle (Rhys dad). She will be brought back to life. And she will be incredibly loved. See more
20.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that has already voted - it means so much to us! However, there is still time to lodge your votes (until August 28th). And we would really appreciate any votes you are able to sneak in before the cut off.
20.01.2022 You would be surprised how many times we have customers come in for their regular services and then tell us that "oh yeah that light has been on the dash for a few weeks" BUT.....warning signs are not there to be ignored! When the warning lights go on, it means that there is something going on inside the inner workings of your vehicle. BUT.....you might also be surprised that sometimes they dont mean anything too serious (especially when your vehicle is being regularly mai...ntained). It takes us less than 10 minutes to check a warning light. So, next time a strange light pops up on your dash, swing past our shed or give us a call. Just for fun......what light is currently and annoyingly popping up on your dash?

18.01.2022 Today we celebrate Women in Engineering Day and pay homage to Mary Anderson (1866-1953) who is credited as inventing the windshield wiper blade and on 10 November 1903 she was granted her first patent for an automatic car window cleaning device controlled from inside the car. And proving that women have played an important part of vehicle design from many decades ago. #ladytradies

10.01.2022 Did you know that your tyres are the most taken for granted item on your car? With many people excepting them to go on forever (yes I am talking about my sister!) And we dont look at them until one goes flat, and that is always at the worst possible moment. The most common problem with tyres is low pressure. Low pressure causes heavy wear, poor cornering and braking and, in extreme cases, blowouts.... Always check tyre pressures when they are cool as tyres that have been warmed up by running for more than a few kilometres will can misleading pressure readings. All car makers recommend a particular pressure for the tyres on their cars. These are listed on a little placard on the car itself. Often on the inner opening of the drivers door - or in the manual for the vehicle. HOW TO CHECK TYRE PRESSURE AT HOME/SERVOS Remove the screw-on dust cap. Place the tyre gauge squarely on the valve and check the pressure Inflate the tyre as necessary Refit the dust cap, making sure no dirt gets in, as this will cause a slow leak in the valve. Also look out for tyre wear or damage when checking your tyre pressure. You shouldnt let the treads wear too low. All tyres have inbuilt indicators to show when they are worn too far. The images show a new tyre and another where the indicator has been worn. If there is noticeably uneven wear then the wheel may need rebalancing, or there is something wrong with the steering alignment. Either way, a specialist should check it. A specialist should also check any damage to the tyre wall, such as splits or cracking. If you are unsure about checking the tyre pressure in your tyres or their overall health, REMEMBER we are still offering our Winter Prep Service Packages for only $39.95 bookings are ESSENTIAL and we do have limited places for these each week so book in now to avoid disappointment.

04.01.2022 The temperature is certainly getting colder Most of us take our cars for granted and its not until we really need something we realize that its not quite up to standard. So, when was the last time you replaced your wiper blades? ... Its easy to take wiper blades for granted, however youd soon notice how vital they are to driving safely rain and worn wiper blades wont clear the windscreen anywhere near as effectively as fresh ones. If you see streaks when using the wipers, its likely theyll need replacing. If they start to make groaning noises when in use its likely they need replacing. They are also easily damaged in winter if they freeze to the windscreen and are pulled from the frozen screen. You should defrost the screen as best you can before switching the wipers on to minimise this risk. Next time you use your wipers take a second to check their performance. If they are performing less than perfect give us a call on 0413250574 and pop in and see Jac for a replacement set! It takes about 10minutes for her to replace your wipes and have you seeing the road that bit clearer.
