25.01.2022 We here at Full Throttle Publishing were proud to see this image of Rod Bowen, owner of the original Jeff Freeman #75 Offy, posing with his Father's Day gift from his daughter Shardae. Rod was given one of our framed 'Racing Rivals Series' posters (number #75 of 100) depicting Jeff Freeman and Johnny Stewart racing side-by-side and drawn lavishly by brilliant artist/designer, Tim Rugendyke. Bowen, a great racer himself for many years, was obviously happy with this wonderful... gift - it looks cool too alongside this historic racer... The car's historic, not Rod! Thanks Shardae McCarthy and Stu for thinking of us here at FTP. To purchase your limited edition Freeman v Stewart poster for Xmas (and hopefully Aust Post's mail woes will be alleviated by then!), just go to: www.fullthrottlepublishing.com.au and order now! We still have copies of this poster and the Rush 'Magnificent Seven' and the 'Sprintcar/Super Modified Timeline' posters available too. Check out our website for all these goodies and more!

23.01.2022 What a wonderful quote from Kyle. Once I got let go from my NASCAR ride and knew that I was going to need to run a lot of dirt stuff, my goal was to show the world I made it to Cup on talent, and I deserved to be there, he said on the latest episode from the World of Outlaws’ Open Red podcast. That was what I wanted to prove to everyone. And I feel like I’ve been able to do that, and it’s gone way better than I thought it would. Kyle Larson - great racer and a decent yo...ung man... 22.01.2022 50 Classic Classics cover release! Well, I have been talking about this for a while, but we finally have a cover concept for you all for our upcoming book '50 Classic Classics - An Illustrated History of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic'. Geoff Rounds, myself and Andrew Green will be assembling this 400-page hard-bound, oversize landscape book over the next 6-12 months, with the final chapter left vacant for when the running of the ground-breaking 50th Classic has been ru...n and won. Geoff has done a wonderful job thus far assembling the year-by-year results, and together with myself and Andrew, we will work on laying out the many images required, memorabilia, first-person memories and race results onto the pages - I can assure everyone who reads this that the book will be nothing short of lavish. Some good people have already expressed interest in supporting this tome, and I must thank the Premier Speedway Manager David Mills for his commitment and support - so too many others who have assisted Geoff with information, images and memorabilia. In the end, books such as this are a group effort. Premier Speedway commentator Gavin White, journos Brett Swanson and Dennis Newlyn, and drivers from the past from Australia, and the USA, along with those involved in the running of the Premier Speedway Club are providing words, and this will only enhance our publication ten-fold. Seven-time Classic champion Garry Rush has kindly lent his support with a Foreword, and in time others will be approached to contribute words - but this book is a mammoth piece of work and a fitting historical record for one of the world's greatest sprintcar (motor races) on earth. (Please note: the release of '50 Classic Classics' is subject to a confirmed 50th GASC event date) Can't wait to up-date you with more information in the near future. Oh, don't forget our fabulous range of books and posters covering oval track racing and open wheel F5000/Tasman Cup road racing. Just go to: www.fullthrottlepublishing.com.au and order an early Xmas pressie for the one you love! Tony Loxley Publisher

21.01.2022 Who remembers those incredible days of speedcar (midget) racing on the pavement at Liverpool City Raceway? It was some of the most intense and hair raising motor sport on the planet at the time, and the drivers who raced at the Place of Pace week in, week out from 1974 to 1980 were some of the best speedcar (midget) racers anywhere on the planet. Americans racing legends AJ Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, Rich Vogler, Sleepy Tripp, Mel Kenyon, Larry Rice, Gary Patterson - you name i...t - mixed with Australia's best on the Liverpool high-banks, and all in front of massive crowds that kept coming back for more. Sadly, Liverpool and the racing offered is now nothing more than a memory, but thanks to our books 'Liverpool City Raceway Parts 1 and 2', those incredible years of speedcar (midget) racing can be relived again and again in glossy, lavishly illustrated publications that also include hundreds of 'first person' memories from the speedcar ranks, and every other division that raced at this fabulous venue from 1967 to 1989. And Santa Claus is now taking orders, so to secure your copy of these volumes, just go to: www.fullthrottlepublishing.com.au We will pass them on to the North Pole ready for a Xmas delivery... And remember, memories fade, but books will last a lifetime...

And what's more, your wife and partner will love it too. It's that good. Artist/designer Tim Rugendyke's brilliant artwork has to be seen to be believed, and I know that there are many who have Garry and his greatest sprintcars already on the wall and a part of the family. Why don't you do the same? To order just simply go to: www.fullthrottlepublishing.com.au and order your copy now! 17.01.2022 Larson is forgiven - and so say all of us! The news that Kyle Larson is to return to NASCAR competition in 2021 is a win-win for everyone - mostly for Kyle Larson, of course. However, the price he has paid for an innocent slip up (and forgiven by just about everyone in the western world the day after), was the toughest ever faced by a sportsman... It went too far.... Larson has had to overcome hurdles no other sportsman has had to endure from recent memory - loss of his NASCAR drive, sponsors, income. And endless apologies it seems from the young man himself for an innocent error on his part. And now, all is forgiven... Yes, money is the big lure here, no doubt about it. Kyle cannot go past the money aspect of NASCAR competition. And who could blame him. Nevertheless, it's his life, but I will say this. It is credit to you, the fans of Kyle Larson, that truly deserve the big 'thank you'. I may be wrong, but I don't think even Kyle Larson knows the role you all played in not only him saving face, but supporting his ventures on the dirt ovals, a scenario where he has excelled this US season. You, the race fans of America, Australia, Canada and NZ, deserve the adulation too as there is no doubt your support throughout this overreaction by NASCAR, kept Kyle's hopes and spirits alive that he might one day be granted a return. However, whether you, the fans of Kyle Larson will ever forgive NASCAR for what they have put this young man through... well, that's up to you. But I know this, NASCAR could not overlook his immense fan appeal and his breathtaking talent in a race car any longer... It's a simple as that. It wasn't about workshops or his humbling letters and statements of 'sorry' for that incident so many months ago... It was about his overall appeal in the oval track world. NASCAR needs it... In all honesty, that's where this all ends. So Kyle Larson racing fans, it's you who should be thanked and given a pat on the back. It's you who made all the difference. And of course, Kyle's talents in a racing car. But without that support, Kyle was going nowhere. Like I said, you made all the difference in the end. I hope Kyle also understands that down the road, too. I am sure he will. For me, I have now said enough in support of this young man - and I have enjoyed doing it as well. It's time for me to let this rest now, too. Cheers everyone. Tony Loxley (PS: Please share away and 'like' Full Throttle Publishing - if that's cool? Thanks everyone for your support) Photos, copyright: Tony Loxley/Full Throttle Publishing

17.01.2022 Well, here is the front and back covers of our epic 'League On Sunday - Work On Monday' rugby league book. All 392-pages of it. Firstly, I cannot thank Alan Whiticker, Ian Collis and Andrew Green enough for making my life-long dream become a reality. It has been a long, hard, slog for everyone involved. Between us there has been around 80 books produced, but for me, this is the one I wanted to do the most. ... Rugby League, for me, as a young boy and a teenager was EVERYTHING. So too speedway and motor racing (and a few girlfriends in between!), but I had dreamed of publishing a book such as this for as long as I can remember. The aforementioned gents made this dream come true... Ian and Alan were brilliant to work with - and as frustrating as publishing and writing can be, we survived it all relatively intact! Well, a 'Bex' or a 'Panadol' or two was required here and there... I must also thank Andrew Voss from FoxSports for his fantastic Afterword, and North Sydney great Greg Florimo for his equally fab Foreword. The images are nothing short of mind-blowing and the memorabilia we have assembled, equally so. It's the complete rugby league book for the fan's of the sport - old and new. We will have more information out soon. So stay tuned. So thanks again everyone for your support, and to my kids who lost their dad for six months of this year, thanks for your love and encouragement - ultimately this book is for you. 17.01.2022 We live this life to the best of our ability and then when our time has come, we would like to think we go to a place that is better than this one we are living in now... And tonight my dear friend Dutchy's time has come, and he has left all of us who knew him and his thick rolling tongue Dutch accent and ready smile, with a very heavy heart. A life-long speedway fan, track curator and "flaggie", Dutchy was nothing short of an institution in speedway, particularly in New Sou...th Wales, and imagining life at the track without my old mate will be difficult - and difficult for so many others, too. But he had a great life, a fulfilling life, and amazingly he was was still holding his crash crew position on turns 3 and 4 at Sydney Speedway right up until the final show last season - in fact, he rarely missed a meeting at his beloved Sydney Speedway since its inception way back in 1977. Nor the Sydney Showground, nor Liverpool, nor Westmead nor Windsor... He lived and breathed our sport - it was everything to him. And so my friend, I hope you are now in that better place we all hope to be one day, and I hope you have the best seat in the house - infield with your flags and with all the speedway friends and family who have passed before us - for all eternity. Sleep well Dutch, and thank you for always greeting me with a smiling face since 1981, buying my photos and books, and always asking on the quiet with a caring grin, "How are you, Mr Loxley?" You will never be forgotten...

16.01.2022 This is my answer to a post on the Parramatta City Raceway Facebook site - Marcus Rumsey in all fairness, gave everyone a chance to comment on the new track at Eastern Creek - but some are going on like children who have lost their toys... This was my answer to the detractors who seem hell-bent on making life a misery for their own self-promotion, or are just being petty and are happy to see the entire venture fail... And why would you? If speedway fails in Sydney, it fails a...round the entire country. Some people who should know better have some very strange ideas about how this sport should be administrated and run... Yet how many have actually done it themselves? It is a very tough scenario. Many who thought they could be successful at it have failed. It's a tough game. This new track is for the fans, number one, and the competitors... Let's get it built. So my answer to the detractors was: 'Really, everyone needs to take a chill pill - let the bloody track get built first. What are the alternatives? None... That story from the Telegraph was factually wrong - the size of the track for one, and the industry insider? Look, the more negativity the worse it will be. AGAIN! They are (the Government) under no obligation to built it what-so-ever! Worried about tolls? Sprintcars are raced too often, track's too small (?), no late models... what about this and that... For God's sake. Worry about the future of the sport first. Simple as that everyone. Think first. Marcus, you nailed it. It's a gift and already people are trying to crush the whole concept... What is the matter with people? Newcastle gone - sold off. Showground, Tralee, and so many before them. Don't listen to vexatious comments from others. It will be something special. Remember that.'

16.01.2022 Farewell Bob Caslick - Australian speedway sidecar great... A brave, tough racer. Hard as nails on the race track, but a loving, kind heart off it. Now you can rest in peace...

16.01.2022 Blast from the Past: Who remembers the 1983 Australian Sprintcar Championship held at the much lamented and now closed Newcastle Motordrome, and promoted by master promoter, Peter Gurbiel? It was a race that certainly tested the mettle of the drivers contesting the 40-lap final, as most will remember the track - a dirt surface back then - was turned to nothing more than a tyre-tearing concrete surface by the end of the title tilt. ... Nevertheless, that didn't effect the incredible speed the drivers produced during the championship final contest. In the end, Garry Rush in the Metford Automatics/Jack Maggs-owned Murphy got the job done, ahead of father and son duo of Brett and Ray "Nippa" Lacey. The tight quarter-miler certainly produced the action for the capacity crowd on hand over the two nights of racing, but it also highlighted the fact that the venue, as racy as it was at times, wasn't up to the high horsepower the sprintcars were now producing. Still, it was a fantastic event and one that is still talked about to this day. The images shown here, taken by Wayne and Bill Meyer capture Garry on his way to winning the Australian Championship final, Garry's daughter Jody giving dad a big hug after his win, and finally, the Lacey duo posing for the camera either side of the winner. Great memories indeed... Tony Loxley

16.01.2022 Kyle Larson - Does NASCAR need his popularity and talent, or should it be NASCAR's loss? Recently Full Throttle Publishing posted a quote from Kyle Larson regarding his removal from his NASCAR team, loss of sponsors et al, and his then having to prove himself worthy of Cup racing via decimating the competition in dirt track racing. And earning some nice cash along the way...... We had over 170,000 hits and 900 shares - I reckon that's over a million views. So I wanted to ask the simple question to you all - and please every one, be civil here, no redneck responses or tearing up others under the influence of a good ole late night whisky or bourbon - but does NASCAR need Kyle Larson, or does Kyle Larson need NASCAR? Simple. For me, this young man has had it pretty good so far. Covid-19 hasn't impacted his racing life-style too hard (like it has for many of we mere mortals, who work hard week-to-week to earn a living), yet this kind-hearted, talented young family man (and I know he is), is - along with many others, entertaining us in these difficult times. And I'm glad he is able to do that. But more and more we ask why would Kyle even be bothered going back to a race division that was so quick to ostracize him and tear up his good name, for one completely lamentable, and honest mistake? Would you even consider it? Would I? Dirt track racing is gaining in popularity - no doubt about that - but is the lure of NASCAR too much of a dollar lure even after such awful treatment? Is it all about money now? And a comfortable lifestyle? Or is it about competition, fan adulation and respect. For me, dirt track racing provides that scenario - in this case at least. And I love NASCAR, but man o man, I just find it hard to fathom where they were coming from with what they did to Kyle Larson. Politically correct gone way too far, even for a conservative thinker. Anyway, enough of me, it's on to you. Food for thought... Oh, Happy Father's Day everyone Down Under! Tony Loxley Photos, copyright, Tony Loxley

16.01.2022 Update: For those of you who have ordered products from us here at FTP in the last five to six days, your orders are being sent today. Unfortunately I have suffered a nasty foot injury and for the last four days have barely been able to walk. Thankfully, the swelling has reduced slightly allowing me to at least hobble along. And as I do the mailing/packing etc myself, well, I have had to hold up a few orders due to limited movement. For that I do apologise, but we are getting... them done now. Then there is the issues we are having with Aust. Post including damaged and undelivered goods... But that is another story for another day. Thanks again race fans for all your support. Tony Loxley

16.01.2022 Such a positive article on the proposed new track written by Dennis Newlyn in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph, August 30, 2020 Speedway, since the inception of the sport on a regular basis in Sydney in the late 20s, has lost 11 tracks over following decades without a government funded replacement.... As I said recently in a post, no matter your feelings on this proposed new Eastern Creek speedway, if there is not a replacement to the one and only remaining Sydney Speedway, the sport will die in Sydney one of the most traditional speedway cities in Australia. Speedway in Sydney is/has been an institution with wonderful, legitimate sporting history in keeping with the importance of speedway's continuation in Australia's biggest capital city. I know Dennis preaches that continually. I can tell you, there are a lot of people working behind the scenes in the corridors of power to get this new state-of-the-art track built, and Newlyn's article, while just a link in the chain, only does the sport good. While at it, let's not overlook the News Corp Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers that have been so supportive by accommodating column space. So remember, this is a far better option for the one that may have arisen... Embrace it.

14.01.2022 50 Classic Classics image from the past: Thought you all might like to see this stunning Wayne Meyer image from the running of the 1979 Warrnambool Classic. That's Alf Barbagallo on the infield as the rest of the heat field continue on. Note the crowd and the lack of a hill and VIP and commentary boxes. ... Steve Brazier had taken out the Australian Sprintcar Championship a week earlier at the same venue - his first of two in a row. Our new book '50 Classic Classics' will be loaded with historical images such as this, and we will feature a few rarities here and there as Geoff Rounds, myself and artist Andrew Green work our way through to publications end. Hope you enjoy this image. Tony Loxley

14.01.2022 This is brilliant. Congrats David Mills and the Premier Speedway Board on this honest appraisal of their upcoming season. Straight to the point, honest and very professional. Our sport needs more of this... Simple.

13.01.2022 Well 'League on Sunday - Work on Monday' is all but finished other than the usual last minute hiccups. Has been an enjoyable experience and but the most costly tome FTP have produced by far, but will be worth it in the end. Once this has been sent to the printers in the next day or so it's back to what I know best - motor sport.... Gavin Skene (and now that I am freed up) will be art directing a lavish look at speedway racing around the world in all forms; from 1960 to 2020 we are covering NASCAR, Indycars, champ cars, Silver Crown, sprintcars, midgets, solos, late models, Grand Nationals, sidecars, paved track, dirt track, you name it - we are squeezing them all in. I promise you we will send some samples soon as soon as I get MY act together and finish assembling the chapters for "Shooter" McGavin Skene to assemble. The Gene Crucean and John Mahoney chapter is worth the price of admission on its own! Thanks guys for all your support, too. And thanks to all the other brilliant photographers who have contributed - I will be naming them later this week as a token of appreciation... And there is a lot of them! Next up will be '50 Classic Classics' with Mr A. Green doing the art and Mr G. Rounds and I putting it all together. Geoff has certainly begun to make his dream come true and has assembled some wonderful content. This will be a fabulous book. Stay tuned race fans...

13.01.2022 Stay tuned race fans for our upcoming cover for the Full Throttle Publishing and Geoff Rounds edited '50 Classic Classics'. Roundsy has been slowly but surely accumulating some amazing images, stories, break-outs and memorabilia that is sure to make this stunning 400-page book on the history of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic a winner - fifty times over! We here at FTP are just completing our epic 'League On Sunday - Work On Monday' rugby league book (only days to go befo...re that goes to the printer), and then it's into the Classic book and 'Speedway's Greatest Images' - with artwork by 'Shooter' McGavin Skene... Can't wait to get into these books and get them into speedway fans' hands. And thanks to all of those great people in Warrnambool who have supported Geoff, David Mills, the Premier Speedway Club and our venture thus far...

13.01.2022 Another ripper 'Speedway Classics' not far away! Shout out to highly regarded long-time journalist Dennis Newlyn who has produced another of his very special Speedway Classics magazines. After the success of the 2019 Speedway Classics, he has published this year's edition which again goes back to the great old days in words and photos.... The Johnny Stewart feature article is much anticipated, but there is also plenty of stories covering the two, three and four wheel scenes from our golden days of the past. It will be in the newsagents across Australia, due for release mid-to-late November. I am proud to have been able to assist my friend in this venture with images and support. Dennis, as always, has supported FTP too via a full page advert. That's what mates do when the love of the sport comes first. Do yourself a favour... Get a copy before they are gone... Tony Loxley.

12.01.2022 When Speedway and Motor Sport had real characters: Ah yes, 'The Preacher and the Teacher', aka Gary Patterson (left) and Larry Rice. This photo was taken at Liverpool City Raceway during the 1976 season. Patterson was racing a Sesco-powered speedcar (midget) and Rice, a VW. Together both toured Australia-wide and were a very successful combo. David Cumming captured this classic image before a race meet in January of that season. ... I dig Patterson's top hat. The duo were an unlikely combination; Patterson being a hippy, Outlaw sprintcar racer, and Rice, a school teacher from the then straight-as-a-gun-barrel USAC ranks. But didn't they perform! Great days in Australian speedway racing. Many of these images are featured in our up-coming 'Speedway's Greatest Images' due out in the near future. In the mean time, check out our website at: www.fullthrottlepublishing.com.au Liverpool City Raceway Parts 1 and 2 also feature many images and memories of these great days in oval track racing Down Under.
