19.01.2022 I've been working on this series of Instagram Workshops for MONTHS! Now, I have to be honest, I wasn't planning to launch them this week - my website is looking beautiful but it's not complete - however due to Melbourne going into Stage 4 Lockdown there is now an urgent need for creative-based and purpose-led small businesses to really nail their online presence. Classes start this Sunday - that's right, TOMORROW!... I didn't call it Full Tilt for nothing I've scheduled them on weekends and evenings for now as I know how much you’re all juggling at the moment during this shit show. Rather than pandemic-panicking during this next phase of restrictions, I think this is a huge opportunity to take advantage of the big chain retailers being closed and promote the importance of shopping small, supporting local and buying handmade or small-batch rather than mass-produced. You can do that really effectively using Social Media and you can start NOW - hooray! The pricing is LOW. In fact it's too low, and definitely not an indication of the standard of learning you can expect. My business has always been rooted in community values and right now my beautiful hometown is hurting, so I'm doing my bit to try and protect the independent operators and artisans and offer these workshops at a price I hope most people can afford. I've also been awarded a grant by Creative Victoria, so I want to give those funds back in-kind to all the talented makers, artists and assorted creatives that make this city what it is. 13.01.2022 At 10am today I was arguing in the car with my threenager She didn't wish to be quiet and rammed that point home by repeating "I won't", "I won't", "I won't"... I did what any good citizen would do on an historic day and turned the radio right up to drown out the whinging.... We sat in the car park outside the swimming centre, while the man delivering the news went on and on and on (maybe he's 3?) And then the numbers were read and I surprised myself by bursting into tears As we walked into the pool for my kid's lesson, I explained that sometimes being super happy can make you cry and that I was REALLY happy that love had won. That I was glad that when she's bigger she can love whoever she wants and be whoever she wants. Then she started banging on about Elsa and loving princes and then said she needed to do a poo before she got in the pool (winning again ) and that was that I've heard and seen some hateful shit over the last few months because of this damn survey I think it's a travesty that this amount of money was spent on something that could have been sorted out in the parliament To all the members of the LGBTQI Community - or as I usually call them "people" or the ones I know "FRIEND" - I'm sorry for the unnecessary load you've had to carry for the duration. 09.01.2022 As you may have read on my Instagram, DeeDee and I have lost someone very dear to us in sudden and shocking circumstance Rose has left behind a powerful community, that she built from her work in early childhood education, but she’s also left a behind a husband and son She was the main income earner in her family and, as such, this adds a layer of complication and stress that no one should have to bear during such a heartbreaking time... In trying to process the absolute senseless nature of this tragedy, I’ve been fundraising by making Xmas decorations.
