How do you know if you are at risk of a knee injury? 1) You have had a previous non contact injury to the knee 2) You have had another injury to the neighbouring joints i.e foot/ankle and/or hip... 3) Females aged 15-19 yrs old involved in sports requiring 'cutting' movements such as netball, touch, AFL. 4) Males 20-24 yrs old involved in sports requiring 'cutting' movements such as soccer, touch, AFL. We encourage you to get involved in activities to aid digestion and help burn the calories eaten during your Christmas meal. 2. Overeating at Christmas time is one of the biggest challenges people face during the holidays; people often consume up to 3000 calories in a Christmas Dinner! Therefore we suggest eating a normal sized meal ...then allowing a 20 minute break to see if you are still hungry. 3. It is OK to relax and enjoy a beverage though it is possible to reduce the alcohol consumption while maintaining your social life! 4. It is easy to forget to consume water when drinking alcohol, therefore we encourage you to still get your 3-4 litres of water in! Have a glass in between each drink. 5. 13.01.2022 We have always been told that slouching is bad for us, right? Think again. In a recent study, participants were asked to slouch for 10 mins. Their discs were measured after this period, and it was found that their disc heights actually grew between 3-5mm in all participants.BUT before you go off and slouch away, although this study showed positive results, they are only limited to people 22-26 year olds, people without back pain and slouching for 10 mins (no more no less). 06.01.2022 Hey guys, my name is Dan and I am the physiotherapist at Functional Health and Performance. I graduated from Sydney University with Honours in 2007. Since that time I have worked in both the public and private systems and with a number community sporting teams. As a physiotherapist I have gained experience in a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions from diagnosis to return to sport. I work extensively with post operative foot and ankle conditions including ankle reconstr...uction, Achilles tendon repair, ankle fractures and chondrocyte implantation. I have always had an interest in biomechanics and injuries of the lower limb which stems from my time as a professional footballer with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, having often experienced personally a number of conditions that are common amongst the broader community.
