25.01.2022 Have you heard of the Dirty Dozen & the Clean 15? Here is the 2018 list. The Dirty Dozen are the foods that absorb the chemicals that are sprayed onto them and you cannot just wash it off - so buy organic where you can. The Clean 15 are the least affected by the chemicals sprayed onto them so are pretty good to buy and eat as they are! (Always wash your fruit & veg before consuming)

25.01.2022 Take your Zantac back to where you bought it! This is a worldwide recall as the contaminant has been linked to cancer. What irritates me about this, is that we put so much faith into our drs recommendations for medicines & the truth is - We dont know it all yet! As science evolves, we discover new risks with meds that we once thought were safe. (Just think thalidomide) We need to start thinking logically for ourselves. Figuring out WHY youre unwell makes way more sense... than taking a chemical cocktail quick fix If youd like to get to the bottom of WHY you need antacid meds - give me a buzz and Ill book you in for an appointment.

25.01.2022 Meal Prep fridge! I do consults from home. This is great because I can actually show people the kinds of foods that are available (or should be avoided) for them to eat - ESPECIALLY if restrictions are required. Of course we are all human and some things are not ideal, but its a good (mostly) healthy fridge #trainsformers8 First Train Fitness #functionalnutrition

24.01.2022 I suspect most wont actually read the article so I took notes! HAHA We've known for centuries that how we feel affects our gut - just think of what happens before an exam or a job interview - but now it is being seen as a two-way street. conditions including depression, autism and neurodegenerative disease & Parkinsons are now being linked to these tiny creatures (our microbiome)... There is new evidence to suggest that if we can improve our gut health we can prevent disease and improve symptoms. Prof Cryan said: "I predict in the next five years when you go to your doctor for your cholesterol testing etc, you'll also get your microbiome assessed "The microbiome is the fundamental future of personalised medicine."

19.01.2022 There are some mixed views on the validity of hair testing for food sensitivities & intolerances. SO in the name of science (and experimenting on myself!) I sent of a hair testing food sensitivity test a couple of weeks ago. I am pretty in tune with what makes me feel crappy so I tend to avoid certain foods and was curious to see what my results would be. ... WELL THE RESULTS ARE IN ! And Im not terribly surprised to learn that my top intolerances are : Lactose & Cream Wheat & Barley However I was very surprised to see Almonds! (I eat them often and knew something was up with my gut lately) Lobster - lucky I cant afford it most of the time anyway! As well as Red food colouring (E160) and food additives E1518 E422 E460 E623 - mostly found in bread and baked goods . All in all Im happy with the testing. I feel that it reflects what I already knew my body didnt like so I think its pretty spot on If you want help with intolerance testing - shoot me a message and Ill happily help! Testing starts from $49

18.01.2022 Jo Whitton & her son Isaac were presenting today. What an amazing story of how food helped Isaac overcome his anxiety and OCD. ** He went from not being able to leave his bedroom to talking to thousands of people in just 12 months of the GAPS protocol diet! ** I can really relate to this amazing family and their journey to health.

17.01.2022 Mood Foods! Boost your memory through your diet Blueberries help to protect the brain from oxidative stress. Fatty fish (eg- salmon) & Flaxseeds for omega 3s , improve memory. Salmon gets a double thumbs up for its vitamin D too And lets not forget about the sun! Vitamin D is proven to boost brain function and cognitive function (10-15 mins per day is usually enough- depending on skin colour & either early in the day or later in the afternoon, out of harsh UV) ... Try adding them into your diet and track how you feel On the flip side. Processed meats , sugary processed foods & alcohol have the opposite effect on brain function so it is best to reduce these!

05.01.2022 Im doing some prep for a talk at a gym tonight and thought this may be interesting to some.. (maybe some dont want to know!) Im talking QUALITY over QUANTITY when it comes to calories. 01.01.2022 It is amazing - the resistance that you can experience from Doctors & Specialists when you challenge them with the idea that nourishing your body could help you heal. The question that I have personally asked in appointments where the Dr is telling me that wont help or diet has nothing to do with it is this: Is trying to lead a healthier life going to hurt? And if not - why would I not try ? ... The answer often lies in the results Dr Terry Whals is banned as a speaker from the MS society because she is sharing what she did to go from wheelchair bound with MS to active again. again - if it COULD help -why would we not try?

01.01.2022 It is National EOS awareness week!#eosinophilicesophagitis For those of you you dont know, my son has this autoimmune disease and it means that he has to have an extremely restricted diet and regular visits to the Royal Childrens Hospital. 01.01.2022 There has been a hot cross bun robbery (actually the evidence points more to a slobbery) Either way we are going to have to make more buns! Lucky we have lots of pantry staples & a bunch of time to make more... Dont let their manners in this photo fool you
