25.01.2022 Yes it's cold and the last thing you want to do is go out into the cold and exercise... But did you know that that exercise could help you prevent Upper Respiratory Track Infections?

25.01.2022 Have you lost your grip? Over the years, we've seen grip strength and finger dexterity drop. The loss of grip strength and finger dexterity can most likely be due to the fact that we don't seem to need to use our hands and fingers in the same way that the last generation used to. This is also affecting our fine motor skills. We are constantly seeing people in our gym present with sore wrists and an inability to activate the forearms. Poor grip strength and low dexterity af...fect your ability to perform your work out effectively, resulting in the use of and activation of the wrong muscles and the adaptation of poor training techniques. There a few grip strengths exercises on the internet but the most fun might be taking up handwriting or writing with your hands again.

24.01.2022 Detoxing can sound pretty complex and extremely hard. For the average person it may just start by drinking enough water to get the organs functioning at their best.

23.01.2022 Welcome To August.. One of the most common feed backs we get from our new members is how their back pain suddenly disappears after they begin to exercise. That's because long stints at your desk during a working day well basically turn of your core and glute muscles which leads to muscle weakness..... Regular strength training focusing on core strength and correct training techniques will help activate these muscles and prevent back pain

17.01.2022 Are You Eating Enough? Yes... Really! Under-eating and not getting enough calories and energy from food is more common than people think and is often not even weight dependent. It can cause just as many health problems as over-eating and the symptoms of under-eating are not often link with low calorific or lack of nutritious diet. Most people don't know why they lack energy and vitality and run out of puff around about midday. ... This is often made worse by strenuous exercise routines that they can barely get through.

10.01.2022 Training Motivation.. . You know you've got to get fit but how do you find the motivation? Well is why get fit in the first place? Despite the enormous amount of reasons given by various medical experts in terms of disease prevention and exercise playing a part in people's overall well being, most people who really need to exercise are the least likely to take up an exercise program. ... From our experience at Function Force we've found that people who stick to exercise are ones who think it's important. If you don't think being fit is important, really important... It's about how much weight you will lose and how fabulous you might look in your summer clothes, not everyone is motivated by improvements in their physical appearance. Most of our members continue to train with us because sometimes, only after two weeks of training, they notice subtle changes in their energy levels, in their moods. As they progress through their sessions, they start feeling stronger, that sore back that they took for granted as something they just always felt after a long days work, becomes less prominent, and suddenly seems to have disappeared. You too could experience this feeling of feeling just a little bit better.. You just have to find your reason for training.

09.01.2022 Ten tips to lose weight and keep it off (From Bond University) Keep to your meal routine Maintain consistent meal times whether you’re eating twice a day or five times a day. Go reduced fat ... Enjoy small amounts of healthy fats from nuts, avocado and oily fish, instead of fast food and high-fat meats. Walk off the weight Try to walk 10,000 steps a day. Take the stairs, walk up escalators and get off one bus stop earlier - it all adds up. Pack a healthy snack If you do snack, go for healthy options like fresh fruit or a small handful of nuts. Learn the labels Checking food labels helps you pick healthier options that are lower in calories, fat and sugar and higher in fibre. Caution with your portions Don’t overload your plate unless it’s with vegetables and think twice before going back for seconds. Up on your feet Whether you’re at work or at home, try to stand for ten minutes every hour. Think about your drinks Alcohol, juice, fizzy drinks and energy drinks can be high in sugar and calories, so stick with no more than one small glass a day. Focus on your food Over-eating is all too easy while on the go or in front of the TV. Eating slowly is a surprisingly effective way to eat less. Don’t forget your five a day Having fruit or vegies at every meal makes it easier to get your five- a-day. See more

06.01.2022 We are all about muscle fitness at Function Force! Yes that means strength and endurance! Stronger body always means a stronger mind, supple joints, and the ability for you to perform day to day functions without pain or injury

06.01.2022 Why Leg Day Mondays in Kettlebells? On Monday 5.30 in kettlebells are session (all 1 hour of it) is dedicated to legs. Yes legs. But why focus on legs? Our legs have the most muscles on the body (think glutes, quads, and hamstrings), and yet over the last 7 years since Function Force has been opened, we've found they tend to be the most under-used muscles on the human body. This makes sense because most people spend up to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week sitting down rather tha...n at their desk rather than walking or standing. This sitting down for long periods of time, not only causes weak legs, poor core, sore shoulders, but also tight hips. we are finding now that poor posture is not only a result of weak core when you stand but also weak muscles in the legs that don't get the mechanical use that they should. Basically you can stand up straight if your legs wont hold up underneath you. SO join us for leg Mondays and help improve your mobility and bio-mechanical efficiency on Leg Mondays in Kettlebelss 5.30 Mondays @ Function Force.

05.01.2022 Sometimes we need a bit of a reminder of why we exercise... *To Reduce Stress Levels and anxiety *Improve sleep which also reduces stress *Less stress, anxiety, and more sleep, helps improve immune function

04.01.2022 Symptoms of a high stomach acid are well known but did you that a low stomach acid can also cause problems?

03.01.2022 Circuit Training @ Function Force We get a lot of people confusing our circuit classes with Crossfit. But we are not Crossfit even if Functional Training of which we practice is very similar to CrossFit. The difference in the way that our classes are run and how they are taught. ... A push up is a push up right? Wrong! At Function Force Circuit training we believe there's the right way to do a push up and there's the wrong. If push-ups are done correctly, you work and strengthen all the muscles required to do a push up. While in most gym trainers focus on speed, we focus on muscular control especially, when it comes to beginners. And only when you've mastered the control of your own body do we then encourage speed. Not all exercises are right for everyone and we all have different fitness levels and therefore physical abilities. We make sure that we work you to what your body can do and not to what your trainer or the fittest person can do. While we like to train hard, we also like to train sensibly. We don't believe in taking unnecessary risks with your body through exercise only push you as hard as you can go and it's not always about mind over matter. Sometimes you are just not fit enough to do 10 push ups. Our circuit classes run Monday -Friday 9.30-10.30 am Mornings Tuesday 5.30 pm til 7.00 pm (1 Hour for general fitness training and 1.5 hours if you are up to it for a fitness challenge) Thursday 5.30 - 6.30 pm and 6.30 -7.30 pm Saturday 10.00 til 11.00 pm

02.01.2022 Cold Showers...Yes you got right! Some of our members have joined our cold shower challenge. It's like four degrees outside and and the weather App says it feels like zero degrees... But it's not what I'm thinking about at 5.30 am in the morning as I step into the shower mentally preparing myself for the pain and discomfort I'm about to put myself through. I don't pretend to be brave, strong, or even a person who likes to do things that are hard. So this isn't about proving m...yself. It's more about better cognitive function that I seem to get after taking a cold shower. My mind thinks faster... I am more efficient. Yes I've heard all about all the other benefits of cold showering. But they are not what is getting me to turn off the hot water and turn on the cold full blast.. It's the shocking pain that's about to heat me as the cold water rains all over my body that I'm dreading and looking forward to at the same time. I will be in incredible pain. But I want that pain to wake me up, to shock me into a state of alertness and greater mental awareness. I want the best out of my own mind! Here are the other benefits of cold showering. A cold shower before your next gym session! Join the Function Force Cold Shower Challenge in the gym this winter!

01.01.2022 Grand Final Friday!
