25.01.2022 This Easter will be unlike any other. Like most of 2020, we are in unfamiliar territory. This Easter break may be a good time to rest (hard to do when working from home). Do something for yourself and those close. Be mindful and be in contact with those on their own. ... If on your own, embrace the solitude or make plans to be in contact with those who support and love you. The challenges we are facing are new and confronting, be gentle on yourself and those around you. For those of us in essential occupations, have a break if you can. For those of us in the business of care during bereavement, we are in unfamiliar territory and it affects us both professionally and personally. Managing grieving families is more complex as they cannot celebrate the life of their loved one in the usual way. Funeral Directors are adaptable people, we need to care for ourselves so that we can be helpful to the families we care for. I understand that the Easter Bunny has an ‘Eggsemption’ to travel restrictions and is not affected by Covid-19, enjoy your Easter gifts. For those who would normally share in the gifts of worship, may God’s blessings be on you and your family. This Easter will be different, stay home and make it a good different! Easter 2020

22.01.2022 Covid-19 Restrictions The death of a family member or someone close to us is challenging, confronting and emotional in usual circumstances. 2020 has been anything other than usual. The ‘nuts & bolts’ of current restrictions are 10 mourners can attend a funeral service with face coverings and social distancing. No wakes can be held. And if you plan to have a service at home, only members of the household can attend.... What these facts and obligations fail to convey is the anguish families and organisers of farewells must endure. Who to invite, how do I un-invite people to meet the mourner limits, who from the family misses out on attending, how do I deal with the constant asking, Am I able to attend? What may seem straight forward is simply not, when you are dealing with emotions. So please consider the loss that families are experiencing, consider the strain related to the restrictions imposed, and consider your own feelings in not being able to offer your condolences and say farewell in the traditional way. The sickness, a death and the farewell are times of great stress and emotion in our lives. Covid-19 has weighed in with additional layers. Be kind to the bereaved, be kind to others, be kind to yourself and those you love. Funerals & Farewells

19.01.2022 I will be missing my Mum on Mother’s Day Covid19 restrictions demand it so. For some, missing Mum is a constant. Even with modern medical technology, others are not able to become mothers.... Please remember Mothers that have gone before, support those who do not have the choice to be in contact with their mother. And, when we get the chance, embrace our mothers like we never have before. I love you Mum. Mother’s Day 2020

07.01.2022 ANZAC DAY 2020 ANZAC day is about reflection, tribute, respect, and remembrance. This year will be unlike anything we can remember.... There are many thoughts and options to honour and commemorate ANZAC day 2020. ‘Driveway at Dawn’ great suggestions on social media Let us all stand at the end of our driveway at 5.55am on Anzac Day. Hold a candle and listen to the last post, take a minute silence to remember those who served. ABC TV and Radio (https://www.abc.net.au/ra/melbourne/anzac-day-2020/12133096) You could also honour ANZAC day with a silent tribute on Saturday 25th April, let us also honour ourselves by social distancing and keeping each other safe while Covid-19 restrictions are in place. Lest We Forget.
