23.01.2022 Exciting news The hard work of groomers advocating for pet health has paid off. We can now open on the 28th of September. Please give me time to find out the finer details, their are some restrictions to this, one being the 5k rule and if we are only allowed to do welfare grooms or all. Once the official post goes up on the government sites I will be in contact. ... If it is a go ahead, those who have appointments pre booked for the year, your appointment slots still stand. Appointment shuffles to early spots will be reserved for elderly dogs and dogs with health issues. Eg. Arthritic dogs, heat seizure dogs, those that require medicated baths. These cases will be considered first. I will be in contact with you shortly and thank you for your patience Bianca Funky Fur

23.01.2022 Thank you everyone for your patience while I was trying to work out if I could remain running with protocols in place. I have made the decision that it is in the best interest for everyone to close for the 6wks. Lack of clarity means it's a grey area for both you coming to me and me opening. We are all safer to remain home during this time. Timetables for the year will remain the same and just pick up from where we re-open again. This will be the easiest way rather then trying to create timetables again. So keep your future bookings as they will just continue on when I am open again. Keep brushing, combing, brushing in the meantime and lots of cuddles to your dog's for me. Stay safe and see you all again shortly.

23.01.2022 Grooms of the week- 2021 timetables have gone out. If you haven't received yours, please let me know

18.01.2022 . I am now back at home and in recovery. While I can't do much physically just yet, I'm taking the opportunity to sharpen my brain through reading and online seminars (although I would really like to groom the dog on the book cover ) Keep watch of this space as I will keep you updated on progress to opening in the coming weeks

16.01.2022 Trying as hard as possible to keep communication open with everyone. So far I know I can open up to wednesday with the restrictions of curfew and anyone who is inside 5k of my salon can still attend their appointment. As the conference was not very clear and documents vague on specifically grooming, still trying to get clarification. Want to make 100% sure we are doing everything to keep us all safe while still caring for our dogs

16.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas filled with happy family memories. I'd like to thank you for your continued support as this year has definitely had its moments. I am lucky to have brilliant clients who have adapted to all the changes with positivity and ease, your cooperation and understanding has definitely made this year flow a lot easier. Looking forward to a great New Year

15.01.2022 So excited to see the dogs very soon Before I do, just a reminder we are coming back in stage three lockdown. Please remember to help keep us all safe, follow pick up and drop off protocols. Another important couple of points to add. If you think you have just a cold, please cancel your appointment. Spreading a cold can create anxiety in this current climate. It also means if I display symptoms, my responsibility is to assume it's covid and shut down until I know for sure.... If you have been tested please cancel your appointment until you have received your results and clear of symptoms. 1. We have increased the frequency of equipment and surface cleaning within the salon, in keeping with the Australian Government Department of Health's environmental cleaning and disinfection principles for COVID-19 to ensure clients, staff and pet's safety. 2. To ensure total compliance with social distancing requirements we have implemented no-contact drop off and pick up for all appointments. 3. When you arrive please text/call before you leave your car. You'll be advised if the drop off point is clear and discuss any groom preferences. When you get to the gate you'll see instructions on how to safely drop off your pet within our drop off zone. You'll be asked to remove any leads, collars or harnesses and take them with you. 4. We will advise you when your pet is ready for pick up via sms. Please sms when you arrive and we'll call you once the pick up point is clear. You will receive our bank account details for transfer of funds or credit cards can be processed over the phone. 5. If you develop flu-like symptoms before your pet's appointment please do not drop them off. Contact me to discuss your options. I am happy to be able to provide these adjustments to our service to keep your dog happy and healthy during this difficult time. Thank you for cooperating with me and look forward to grooming your pet.

14.01.2022 Did you know Removing up to 20%** of your pets dry food and replacing with fresh can... Improve weight management ... Changing the carbohydrate to protein ratio can assist in weight reduction before even considering a reduction in the amount of food fed, as dry foods are high in carbohydrates Increase bioavailable micronutrients A lot of dry food nutrients are synthetic based and may be difficult for the body to utilise correctly and can be fragile in the manufacturing process. Adding fresh can add nutrients that are more readily available to your pet and increase nutrient absorption. Add variety to the bowl and mental stimulation. Adding different textures, tastes and smells to the bowl can be a great way to get the mind thinking and jaw and teeth moving. Raw meaty bones is a great example as it assists in keeping teeth clean, takes time for your pet to eat and makes them think on how to eat it. It also works on the upper body muscles as they use their front paws neck and shoulder muscles to work through a bone. For more information check out feed thy dog guide https://feedthydog.com/enhance/ ** Please make sure, when removing up to 20% you are still within the recommended feeding guildlines on the dry food package unless working it into a balanced formula.

13.01.2022 Opening Update! Unfortunately under the latest regulations home grooming is not allowed to open. I am sorry I can't help my client during this time as I know most have been waiting for a groom. Retail salons can open so if grooming is becoming an issue, feel free to message me and I can point you in the right direction. ... Hopefully by the 19th of October my doors can be open again and I can see you all again soon. In the mean time, I thought Buttons the guinea pigs little face could cheer you all up . 09.01.2022 Hope everyone is well and safe. I am very much missing all the dogs. Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there Update from today's conference on when grooming will be back. Again we find ourselves in a bit of a grey zone. From my understanding we will be back open at level 3, which is timed to be on the 26th of October pending numbers. With grooming being apart of the health and wellbeing of pets I have my fingers crossed that we will be considered for the 28th of Sept...ember it's a fine line trying to protect people and keep our pet's health in check. While we wait, if anyone feels their dogs grooming is starting to effect their health please contact your vet. They can help with nail trims, cleaning hair between pads and any eye or skin issues. Best option when you ring is to ask if they have a vet nurse on their staff with grooming experience. If you need any advice I am always happy as usual to answer any questions. I also have grooming products available for purchase including shampoo, brushes, combs and colognes. Contactless free delivery is offered to all my clients regardless of location . Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather and look forward to seeing you all soon Bianca Funky Fur

06.01.2022 Eye boogers If you are wondering how to remove gunky crust around the eyes here are some tips to keep them clean and tidy. Removing during bath:... -Thoroughly flush the area with warm water and let sit for a minute. The warm water will soften the build up under the eyes. -Get a fine tooth comb, flea or lice comb works best. Carefully run the comb in between the gunk and the hair and slowly tease it out. Make sure the prongs of the comb are facing away from the eye. -Once removed bath as normal Removing without a bath: Soak a cotton bud or cloth with warm water and soak the area repeatedly until the area softens. Then follow the steps above with a comb. If you don't have access to comb you can use you nails if you don't find this too gross Sometimes if the debris has been sitting on the eye too long irritation can occur. Use warm black tea water soak the area with a cotton bud. Tea water has anti-inflammatory properties. It can help soothe and reduce inflammation caused. Green tea and chamomile can also be used. Wiping daily with a damp cloth will help reduce build up.

06.01.2022 I'm so excited to be starting back up again but I will be coming back to some limitations so please bare with me and read below. Funky Fur will be opening with a few changes and new hours. Some of these changes will be temporary while others may remain permanent . ... As hours are limited I will be working with previously pre-booking clients first. As I add more hours I will be able to add more clients in. While hours are shorter it will mean I need bookings to be as organised as possible so I can cater for as many as possible. To do this all appointments will be pre-booked only. If you would like to continue with Funky Fur, please let me know your day of preference and intervals you prefer between grooms ( e.g 4, 8,6 wks) once a spot is available I will schedule a timetable up to Christmas. I love all the dogs I work with so these changes are a very difficult decision I needed to make, but I feel necessary so I can continue to do what I love long term, and hopefully in the future relax on. Thank you for your time and patience and I'm looking very much forward to seeing you again soon Bianca Funky Fur

04.01.2022 Pesky Grass seeds. It's that time if year where grass seeds can cause a bit of havoc. They like to travel through the hair towards the skin and then pierce the skin and keep traveling. Here are a few tips after a walk, to help reduce these pests causing problems Check the skin.... The main areas you will find grass seeds are in between the toes and paw pads, under arms and groin. Use a hair dryer A hair dryer can help you see to the skin by seperating the coat. Hold the dryer at a distance where you can see the skin but the hair isn't folding back in on itself (this can create knots) Thorough brush through Brushes the coat from head to toe straight after a walk. This will get the grass seeds out before they get to the skin. Regular grooming I'm a stickler for seeing the skin from head to toe. The skin can tell us a lot about our dogs health so I'm always sure to be systematic so I don't miss anything. It also means I will pick up on grass seeds the have already hit the skin and able to remove before they become a problem. Once I spot one my tweezers come out and I check right through the entire coat.
