15.01.2022 GDay Groovers, We have been operating for 10 years now and have seen people come and go, but we have stayed, and we have you to thank for that! Its been a while (3 years) but we now have to increase our prices. A short little explanation of our costs;... Electricity has increased by 233% from early days. Rent has increased 79% from first opening. Cost of supplies have increased continuously, 4-5%each year. Pie prices have increased by only 30% since opening. New Prices: Pie $6.95, Pie+Side $14.90, Smoothie $9.90, Milkshake $8.90, Juice $7.90 Another couple of Funky Pie related things we wanted to let you know about, over the years we have given pies away for free to lots of places that do good, we do this as our aim is to create a business that continuously strives to do good, even if we are just making pies, we can still use that platform to help others. Listed below are some of the charities or groups who we have (and will continue to) supported : Sea Shepherd crew, 1000 pies. Value $6500. We cater for every Animal Liberation Xmas party approx. $210/year = $2100 We have supported with free pies or half price pies or just a donation: Oscars Law (puppy farm charity) Animal Liberation (animal rights charity) PETA (animal rights charity) A Poultry Place (rescue sanctuary) Where Pigs Fly (rescue sanctuary) Funky Pies will be starting a Funky Grassroots Grants program towards the end of this year, the aim is to have a set amount of money to give to an individual or group, who have an idea that needs some free seed funding to get going. Anyone will be welcome to apply, and the project outcomes will be inspected and reported back to us so we can inform you of the good things that people are doing out there in our own community. We are very excited to launch this, and if you feel you have any skills to help in the set up or application of a grants program, feel free to contact us. Upon start-up it will be a separate volunteer-run program. Please accept our price increases without too much push back, we are doing the best we can to keep costs down within an increasingly costly hospitality environment. 13.01.2022 Living smart festival today in Speers Point Park. Amazing day, great support from Craig Reucassel from ABCs War on Waste, awesome to hear the community get so involved. Great work for putting the microphone out to the people as well. As a stall holder who tries hard to reduce waste, I felt that this festival keeps getting stronger each yeah. Congrats to the organisers, amazing!!
