25.01.2022 # SunlitSunday We just had to share this magical sunset along the banks of the River Thames last night. It was rather cold, but the bracing walk along the tow path offered this wonderful sunset experience at Chelsey. Thank you to Louise Etson for sharing her lovely afternoon avian encounter! ... https://www.facebook.com/615693713/videos/10159441683663714/
24.01.2022 #CruiseNews Celestyal Experience will have its inaugural sailing in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean on 6 Mar 2021. Celestyal CEO Chris Theophilides said Experience will be a "game-changer" and embodies the company's "commitment to an intimate, authentic Greek experience on a well-appointed, mid-sized cruise vessel". Cruise aficionados will recognise the ship's profile - repurposing a ship previously adorned with Carnival livery. The move to Celestyal should prove a win for both cruise lines as they rationalise their fleets.
22.01.2022 #sunlitSunday The sun rises over the ever peaceful, relaxed and down to earth Chiang Rai - the northermost province of Thailand - casting shadows across an amazing and complex mountain range. As the day unfurls, the sun's rays are reflected from many gorgeous local temples - sparkling off the white walls of Wat Rong Khun, bouncing from the anciet walls of the Mingmuang Temple - the city's oldest - and shining off the bright blue of Wat Rong Suea Ten - one of the newest tem...ples built on ancient ruins in the nearby district of Rimkok. Rong is the Thai word for house, suea for tiger and ten for dancing. While you may not see a tiger jumping or dancing over the Mae Kok River - you can see some amazing white buddhas as you visit the Rong Seua Ten village which is named after the region's famous felines. And if you visit in winter, be sure to stop by the Doi Tung Palace to see it surounded by fragrant flowers as the Mae Fah Luang gardens embrace the season. While less "touristy" than Chiang Mai, her more well known sister town, Chaing Rai is at the heart of the Golden Triangle of Thailand, Myanmar and Loas. It has lively night markets and informative walking tours. It is also the perfect place to discover the secrets of blending the classic sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter flavours at a local cooking class to get a true taste of Northern Thai culture. Ready to discover the home of the dancing tigers for yourself? Call the team at Liberty Tours on (02) 9947 1284 and discover the best time to visit. 22.01.2022 #MountainMonday Tamborine Mountain is a hidden gem, sitting on an escarpment behind the glittering Gold Coast. Break up you beach holiday - or a city break in Brisbane - with a guided day trip to take in the best of what this relaxing mountain has to offer. A lush green rainforest, it offers a cooler climate, sweeping views and is the true Green behind the Gold. Think wet eucalypt forests, palm-fringed creeks, giant strangler figs and moss-covered basalt rocky outcrops. ... One of Queensland’s secret treasures, it features fabulous food flavours, tasty local wines and liqueurs, and a wonderful array of walks, waterfalls and National Parks - home to playful platypus, fragile glow-worm colonies and lyrical (and mimicing) lyrebirds. Curtis Falls is one of the best known attractions - with the Joalah section named after an Aboriginal word meaning ‘haunt of the lyrebird’. Intersted in geting your own tast of Tamborine? 22.01.2022 #ScenicSunday New Zealand's Lake Tekapo is simply stunning. This picture-perfect spot in the South Island's Mackenzie Basin is sourrounded by walking tracks. It is even more dazzling after the sun has set - look up for some amazing stargazing opportunities.... Just three hours from Christchurch, it is a South Island favourite! On our first visit to this amazing milky-turquoise coloured lake, our expert guide explained that the colour of the lake is due to the suspension of fine rock-flour (ground by glaciers) in the water. Waiting for the #travelbubble to be announced? So are we. Call our NZ experts on (02) 9974 1824 and see what is waiting for you across the #tasman in scenic New Zealand. #LakeTekapo #Christchurch #travel #travelbubble2020
21.01.2022 #WaterfallWednesday China's most famous Waterfall, Huangguoshu, is the largest waterfall in Asia. On some days, the roar of the water can be heard kilometers away. Also known as the Yellow-Fruit Tree Waterfalls, 18 separate falls create an impressive body of water southwest of Anshun city in west Guizhou Province. June to October is the best time to visit to see the falls flowing, with peak water falling July through to September. However, visitors in the cooler months of No...vember and December are rewarded with a display of beautiful autumn clolours. With a number of viewing points, it is said to be the only waterfall in the world that can be viewed from above, below, front, back, left and right. Our favourite views are from above and from behind the Water-Curtain Cave, a naturally formed 134m deep cave located at the back of one of the falls. Here you can not only see the waterfall, but hear the water roar and touch the water as it mists directly before you. ...and when the sun shines, rainbows are caught in the mist above the Rhinoceros Pool. Longing to travel again? Ready to catch a rainbow at the Asia's largest waterfall? The team at Liberty Tours are China travel experts and are ready to make your travel dreams a reality. 21.01.2022 #ThrillseekerThursday Imagine an African safari by a traditional makoro (canoe). Experience awe-inspiring African sunsets as you paddle the Okavango Delta and experience nature at its finest from these small, narrow and rudderless vessels. Traditionally carved from the wood of an African ebony tree, modern versions are fashioned from fibreglass. The region became the 1000th UNESCO World Heritage site just six years ago. Up for the challenge? Head to the centre of the Kala...hari and get ready to explore Botswana's swampy inland delta. Created by seasonal flooding - the annual wet season starts in March and peaks in June/August - the guides stand like Venetian gondoliers, using long poles to propel the boats through the dark, murky water flanked by swaying papyrus. The thing you notice first is the silence - slowly punctuated by the humming of insects, the rippling of the water, the chirping of birds and the splash of tropical fish. But watch out for crocodiles. One of the seven natural wonders of Africa, locals lead walks through this region and point out big game - and smaller creature - spotting beyond the water's edge. These flood lands attract the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Over 400 bird species fly over the Delta, and the most common large mammal is the Lechwe. A little larger than an Impala, these amazing animals have hooves shaped to help them move rapidly through the Delta's swollen waters. Guided tours see guests camp together, eat together and paddle together - think sunset BBQs, photo ops at every turn and fabulous friendships to last a lifetime. Some of the best spots to set up a phot-safari include the Dombo Hippo Pool and the Chief's Islands. Who has just added this safari with a difference to their #whenthebordersreopen #bucketlist! #AfricanSafari #holidayplanning #travel2022 #holiday2022 #travel2021 #iloveAfrica #feelingadventerous #holiday2021 #ilovetravel #adventureholidays #safariadventure #travelafrica #travelbotswana #holidayplan #ilovemytravelagent #adventure #holidays #thrillseeker #wildlife #thrillseekerthursday #africandelta #OkavangoDelta #makoro #Kalahari #Wetlands #Lechwe #UNESCOWorldHeritageSite
21.01.2022 #WaterfallWedensday How stunning are the twin "Dragon's Head" falls of Japan's Ryuzu Falls, one of three Great Waterfalls in the Oku-Nikko region. Surrounded by Azaleas in summer, it is located upstream from the Yugawa River with water falling 210m over steep slopes of cooled lava. September is our favourite time to plan a visit as you can witness the spectucular autum leaf colours. Take a stroll along the walking paths or settle down to enjoy the view, while indulging in a ...hand made icecream, at the small teahouse at the base of the falls. Japan on your bucket list? 21.01.2022 #MountainMonday In Australia we have the Three Sisters - in Europe they have the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (if seeing from the Italian side) or the Drie Zinnen (if looking from Austria). This impressive geological formation creates a natural linguistic boundary between the German-speaking and Italian-speaking townships that lie in its shadows. This triptych landmark rock formation is a UNESCO world heritage site and is part of the famous Dolomites - a stunning mountain range lo...cated in the border region between Italy and Austria - that combine vertical cliffs and step climbs with narrow, deep valleys, lakes and spectacular scenery. Of the three peaks, the largest is Cima Grande/Große Zinne at 2,999 meters. Then there is Cima Occidentale or Ovest/Westliche Zinne - the Western Peak - at 2,973 metres. The smallest of the three - Cima Piccola/Kleine Zinne - still measures an impressive 2,857 metres above sea level. In total, over 18 peaks feature across the Dolomites, some even rising above 3,000 metres making them among the highest limestone walls found anywhere in the world. As the seasons change, so do the colours reflected off these three pale coloured peaks - from subtle greys, pearl whites and soft browns to stunning oches, sunny oranges and deep reds. It's the perfect place to stop for a few days on a Europe holiday and, if you are keen, take time to explore by foot and be one with nature. With hiking trails for all abilities, it is on the bucket list for many of our holidaymakers! With budget log huts through to luxury lodges on offer, our mountain experts recommend making enquires early as popular sites can book out. And time your visit - the mountain road can be closed due to snow in the cooler months. May to late October the road access is generally good, and buses run between the nearby towns of Cortina, Toblach/Dobbiaco and picturesque lakeside town of Misurina. Are the mountains calling you? 20.01.2022 #festivalfriday Get ready to #Samba! Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's most cosmopolitan city, is home to the largest #Carnival in the world. Held annually before Lent since 1723, some of the most memorable and energetic events are now held the #Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí a purpose-built Carnival area. The competitive #dance-offs that open the festival are world famous - with local schools performing elaborate choreographed numbers that combine incredible costumes, fancy footw...ork and energetic music. The team at Liberty Tours can arrange your tickets ifor seats in the Sambadrome grandstands to guarantee an incredible view of these dancers. But this is just for starters! Next comes a seemingly neverending parade of unbelievably detailed and eyeboggling floats - complete with performers, stiltwalkers and even more dancers, in exotic costumes. Expect soul-stirring music, sparkly sequins, flamboyant feathers and carnival princesses! Beyond the Sambadrome, "bandas" and "blocos" - or street parties - see revelers dancing and drinking into the wee hours of the night. There are reportedly over 300 bandas and blocos taking place at any one night - from the incredible large scale street dances, like those on Cinelândia Square in Rio’s Centro or the impressive Cordao do Bola Preta through to more interesting gatherings - the"Casa Comigo" (Marry Me) in Sao Paulo or the The Carmelitas where everyone is dressed as nuns. Or head to #Copacabana or #Ipanema. It is inceredible to think that these areas were once filled with local bass instruments playing the Polka and other European-style dances. Ready to Samba? Call our South Amercian Tour Specialist, Agustina, on (02) 9974 1824 and discover when you can next shake your tail feathers in Rio! 20.01.2022 #TropicalTuesday Imagine 3,000 limestone islands, topped with rainforest, rising from clear emerald water. This is Halong Bay - a UNESCO World Heritage Site that lies in the Gulf of Tonkin in the north of Vietnam, near its border with China. It is one of Vietnam’s most impressive scenic sights, famous for peaceful beaches, hidden grottoes and beautiful caves. There are more than 1,600 islets in the bay, and some larger island house inland lakes! Jump onboard traditional Vi...etnamese junk boat to explore the bay's islands, caves, and floating villages, or perhaps take a leisurely swim in a secluded cove before visiting hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. With calm tides, it is said to be one of the best places to swim in Vietnam. Many of the islands, sculpted by nature, have curious names that refect their shapes - such as Stone Dog, Incense Burner, Chopstick and Teapot islets. The region is popular for scuba diving, rock climbing and hiking, particularly in mountainous Cát Bà National Park. Cát Bà Island, the largest in the bay, has a population of around 18,000 and is also home home to the highly endangered Cát Bà lemur. How gorgeous is this image of a recent baby lemur from the Cat Ba Langur Project's Facebook page. Among the top 25 endanged primates on the planet, they are a most flamboyant shade of orange during the first four months of their lives. So very tropical! The Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project, a long-term effort to prevent the species from going extinct, employs four full-time people on the island and numbers of these curious creatures are ever so slowly on the rise. 18.01.2022 #TropicalTuesday Did you know that the red eyed tree frog (agalychnis callidryas) is a carnivore? Smaller than a teacup, these vibrantly coloured rainforest dwelling amphibians are found near rivers and ponds in the tropics - but being arboreal means they are most commonly found, as their name suggests - in the trees! With "suctions cups" for feet, they climb easily amongst the treetop canopies. Excellent jumpers, their neon-green bodies have contrasting orange/red large w...ebbed feet and bright blue-and-yellow flanks - but they are not venomous. Despite this vibrant colouring, they are well camouflaged amongst the leaves in the tropical lowlands of southern Mexico, Central America, the north of South America and Columbia. Their long sticky tongues help these beautiful creatures find delicious treats - namely crickets, flies, grasshoppers and other insects and moths. Nocturnal hunters, they sometimes even eat other frogs! While the frogs themselves are not endangered, their habitat is - making them the "poster frog" of save the rainforest campaigns. They lay their eggs on the underside of leaves above ponds, and when ready to hatch, the tadpoles fall into the water below. Eastern Australia is home to another tropical green frog that likes to spend time in the treetops - the beautiful Green Tree Frog (ltoria caerulea). However this one has a more uniform lime green coloured body and is somewhat plumper that its American cousin - and rather than being a carnivore, its insectivorous. Ready for a rainforest holiday? 15.01.2022 #MountainMonday The port of Vesuvius in Naples is one of Italy’s ancient jewels - and one of the Mediterranean’s most memorable destinations. So many of our #holidaymakers - especially those cruising into this amazing port on wonderful ships like the MSC Fantasia - return home with incredible memories. Our tip: wake early to catch the sunrise - it is the ideal time to snap that perfect Instagram shot as the sun peaks over the mountain! When we have visited the amazing exca...vation site of Pompeii, we always marvel at the sense of "time being stopped" as guided though the evidence, seeing first hand when pumice and ash stifled life in ancient Pompeii. For many, this outdoor museum, which offers glimpses of fossilised people, preserved baths, crumbling columns and fabulous frescoes, is a very moving experience. Have some memories of Naples of your own? Have you snapped the sunrise over Mount Vesuvius? We so love seeing everyone’s photos and travel stories! And if Italy on your bucket list, are you looking forward to an authentic pizza in the Bay of Naples, or a tide-timed journey into the Blue Grotto off the coast of Capri? 12.01.2022 #FestivalFriday #FestivalFriday Harbin, in Heilongjiang, in the most northern part of China, is currently hosting the 37th Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival - reflecting the 2021 theme of "Magical Harbin, Ice Snow Charming China". ... The extravagant festival, featuring multiple exhibits over 750,000 square meters, has run continuously since 1963, and is renowned for incredibly brightly illuminated iced artworks - fashioned from ice taken from the very river that runs through the city! This annual celebration of ice and snow is the largest festival of its kind in the world! This year the festiaval opened on 5 January and will continue until February 5, 2021 - however some exhibits opened earlier in December, and some may stay longer - through until late February - weather permitting. Imagine witnessing a streetscape of LED light illuminated full size buildings made from blocks of 23' thick ice - each taken directly from the Songhua River, with some blocks of ice weighing in at around 700kg. Cross the river to see one of the festival's four theme parks: Sun Island International, a Snow Sculpture Art Expo. The other theme parks are Harbin Ice and Snow World, Songhua River Ice and Snow Harbin Valley. Some exhibits are best viewed in the day time - with others such as Shaolin Park's popular Ice Lantern Fair, comes alive in from the early evening. Festival itineraries include a stop at the Siberian Tiger Park and a visit to St Sophia Cathedral church. When we say weather dependent - we mean it. If you are keen to visit this surreal frozen landscape, pack for the cold. Dress in layers and make sure your shoes are warm! Harbin faces cold winter winds from Siberia and winter temperatures sit at around 16.8 C (1.8 F) in winter- sometimes dipping as low f -25 C. No wonder it's the Ice capital.

10.01.2022 Cruise update. Cruise aficionados are always anxious for updates. We are delighted to advise that a number of cruise lines are now tentatively venturing back to sea. The bad news is that Australian borders are still closed and that it is unlikely that international flights will be flying until the middle of next year. Still, it would be nice to understand what cruising will look like. For the foreseeable future it will be a little different to what we have known in the past a...s some level of COVID prevention will impose on all aspects of our lives. The CLIA (Cruise Line Industry Association) has been doing a great deal of work to ensure that its crews and passengers are safe, and as most major cruise lines are now members of CLIA, you are likely to encounter a similar level of protection from each of them. We already know that it is likely that you will need to provide evidence of a COVID test (with a negative result of course) that has been done a few days before you leave home. The details vary slightly depending on your home country and destination. On board you will see that the familiar buffet has gone, or at least been modified so that crew will handle the food and pass your order to you. There will be some level of social distancing required in public places and the number of people seated in theatres will be reduced. However, the shows will still be offered and the bars and restaurants will still be open. MSC Cruises is one of the best value-for-money lines and a favourite of many of our clients. MSC has advised us that shore excursions will be available, but that it will insist that passengers go on an MSC excursion so that they can ensure the quality of the COVID protection provided. It has now started sailing the Mediterranean, but only for citizens of the European Union. As we stated above, most cruise lines will offer similar experiences, so watch the video below to get a feel for what it will be like. If you have any questions at all, please post them below. And if you have found this interesting, don't forget to tell your friends about us. We look forward to being on board with you again soon.
09.01.2022 Happy National Mouldy Cheese Day! For lovers of classic blue cheeses, today is your day! Think the bold, tangy and sharp flavours of classics such as Roquefort, Gorgonzola, and Stilton. Or do you prefer a washed rind white mould - a classy Camembert or Brie with soft surface mould and creamy, gooey insides.... Our favourite reaction to #MouldyCheeseDay is from @NASAMoon - with the space agency reminding cheese lovers and moon watchers via social media that the Moon is definitely not made of cheese. But back on Earth, cheese is very much linked to the region in which it is made and aged. Did you know that only rindless sheep's milk cheeses aged in the natural Combalou caves of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in Southern France may bear the name #Roquefort? #Gorgonzola is a similar style of cheese made in Gorgonzola near Milan in Italy from whole cow's milk. Like many other blue cheeses, metal rods are inserted into the cheese during the ripening process to create air channels so the mould spores can penetrate the cheese. Younger versions, Gorgonzola Dolce, are sweeter while those aged for longer are referred to as Gorgonzola Piccante. #Stilton is probably the most famous of the English mouldy cheeses yet true Stilton can only be produced in three counties: Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. The irony is that the Village of Stilton - which the cheese is named after - is in Cambridgeshire - so no cheese made in Stilton can officially be called Stilton. With its classic high round shape, each takes between nine to twelve weeks to mature. Makes this Friday’s afternoon cheese and bickies just that little bit more special. What is your favourite mouldy cheese?

08.01.2022 #ScenicSaturday Some images immediately transport you to a place. The #Cycladic whitewashed walls and blue domes that rise out of the dramatic southern coastline of the endless Aegean Sea is one such image - taking you straight to Santorini! This postcard inspiring view is even better when seen when looking up from the water. Many of our holiday makers have special memories of the first time they see the sheer cliffs that soar almost vertically from the sparkling turquoise ...waters of the #Aegean, with shadows cast over red and black volcanic beaches. Did you know that the Aegean is the immense crater of Thera, a drowned volcano, with the stunning islands that Greece is famous for shaped by an ancient cataclysmic eruption? For the geologically minded, you can actually see evidence of the different phases of the eruption. in the cliff faces of Santori a thick layer of white "tephra" (the Greek term for ash) indicates ground level before the eruption. The iconic Cycladic houses - orientated usually to the southeast in order to best capture the natural light, have 60-80cm thick whitewashed walls that dazzle in the sunshine to offer protection from the strong winds and extreme heat they must withstand. This simple and conservative architecture is common in the Aegean archipelago between Athens and Crete, and can also been seen in windmills of the area. Some houses are actually carved into the hills to provide even further protection. One of our favourite descriptions of these houses is "cliffhanging sugar-cubes" - evokes a rather sweet image! #Santorini, the largest island in the mini-archipelago, is a place we love retuning to - and the Aegean islands are one of our top cruising destinations. Let our Mediterranean cruise team take you there soon! https://www.libertytours.com.au//18-day-southern-europe-t/ #archipelago #sugarcubehouses #Mediterranean #MedCruise #GreekIslands #IslandHop #MSCCruise #MCS #IloveMSC #ilovecruising #europeanholiday2021 #travel2021 #holiday2021 #travel2022 #holiday #holiday2022 #travelagent #travelagentsydney #travel #holidayplanning #Europe2022 #travelplanning #travelagentaustralia #Europeanholiday

06.01.2022 #SunlitSunday Greece Santorini Greece is blessed with a rugged coastline dotted with clifftop villages and #Santorini is famous for its row upon row of whitewashed houses facing the west to capture the last rays of the sun.... Been to Santorini? Where do you think is the best place to watch the sunset from? The little village of #Oia beside the old castle, gazing above the blue domes of the Agios Spyridonas and Anastaseos churches? Or perhaps the Akrotiri Lighthouse, which has been standing on the island’s west coast since 1892 and is still used as a naval facility. Will you order a cocktail and relax on a rooftop bar in #Fira. Some of our favourite spots are those near Theotokopoulou Square try an ouzo mojito in one of the upmarket cocktail bars or go a little more traditional in a Greek thaverna. Feeling a little more adventurous? Take a short hike up the rocky face of #Skaros outside the village of Imerovigli. The hike is well marked and it’s a little less crowded than some of the other more well-known vantage points. But for the team at Liberty Tours, we love gazing at a Santorini sunset from the deck of a cruise liner. As wonderful as the onboard entertainment is, we have to remember that nature has its own line up of stars and experiences that never fail to impress! Have you been cruising on the med? Experienced incredible sun- inspired shows like this one? Share your memories on our Facebook group #My_Holidays_Abroad. 05.01.2022 #MountainMonday Planning a visit to the Pilbara region when our borders reopen? Then the lookout from Mount Meharry is probably on your itinerary! It is within the southeastern part of Karijini National Park - part of the Hamersley Range. Wirlbiwirlbi is the indigenous name for Mount Meharry - the highest mountain in Western Australia with its summit registering 1253 metres. The traditional owners are the Pandjima peoples. The mountain was named after William Thomas (To...m) Meharry who was the Chief Geodetic Surveyor for WA from 1959 to 1967. Expect to encounter lots of open spinifex, the odd solitary tree and if you time it right, perhaps some pretty colourful desert wildflowers on your way to and from the lookout! #desertholiday #desertwildflowers #aussiebushholiday #westernaustralia #iloveWA #mountmeharry #mtmeharry #seeaustralia #waaustralia
05.01.2022 #mountainmonday Pack your #Binoculars! Denali, once known as Mt McKinley, is the Great One to the native Athabascans that call Interior Alaska home. North America’s highest peak, it is surrounded by Denali National Park and Preserve. Did you know that this amazing park, which has no repitles, is the same size as Switzerland! Created in 1917 to protect the wildlife living along the slopes and in the valleys of the Alaska Range - allowing them to roam free in the far north -... cars now have limited access. Guided bus trips explore Denali Park Road and offer fabulous views above the treeline and possible sightings of some of this areas most iconic animals: grizzly bear, moose, caribou, dall sheep and wolves. Also beavers, Alaskan ground squirrels and super cute marmots. Grizzlys are more common than black bears in the apine area of #SablePass - and beavers are sometimes seen in Horseshoe Lake. At #WonderLake, where the landscape becomes more like a wetland, you are likley to see ducks, geese and other waterfowl and a moose or two! Denali is also central to six million acres of tundra, boreal forest and ice-capped mountains - perfect for those looking for a more challenging journey by foot. If you would prefer self-drive, the park hosts a four-day event called the Denali #RoadLottery each September. Winners receive a one day pass to drive as much of the park as weather allows! Only 300 cars are allowed on the road of each day of the Lottery, and @DenaliNPS directs winners to the best places and times to see wildlife. However you experience Denali, don't forget to look up - you may catch a glimpse of a Golden or Bald Eagle soaring overhead. 05.01.2022 #waterfallWednesday Imagine a waterfall punctuated by pools of light in the middle of an expansive dessert. Let us introduce you to an oasis carved by the Tsin Stream, into the hard, white limestone of the Negev desert in Israel.... This is the Ein Ovdat canyon, a UNESCO world Heritage site. It is an hour and a half from the forested mountains near Jerusalem, and just twenty minutes from the stark and rocky scenery of Makhtesh Ramon. Three pools are a feature of the canyon and a number of waterfalls. En Ma'arif (at the foot of the upper waterfall at the head of the canyon), En Avdat (in the center of the canyon), and En Mor (where the canyon opens out into Tsin Valley). The Ein Avdat waterfall is the largest, falling 15m into an 8m deep reflective pool. It only takes around an hour to walk from the Ein Ovdat Visitor's Center to the foot of the canyon and you will be rewarded with some magnificnet views from within the canyon. Once home to Nabateans and Catholic monks - with caves used for meditation in the Byzantine period - it is now an amazing hiking destination in Southern Israel. The top of the canyon offers panoramic views of Ein Ovdat. Advanced hikers can take the 5km journey between the two entrances of Ein Avdat National Park, but metal rungs are recommended! In addition to the waterfalls, some of incredible sights include unique lime and flint formations, and herds of ibex and other animals. A stone cut staircase hugs the rocks to the top of the canyon - but you may have to make way for ibex that also use this path. The Nature and Parks Authority also monitors a rare nesting colony of vultures.

04.01.2022 #ScenicSaturday Have you seen the little house shaped lights along the boardwalk to Kaneo Beach on the forshore of Lake Ohrid? They reflect the shape of the houses in the village - such exquisite detail! Ohrid, in North Macedonea, is one of only 28 UNESCO world heritage site that are both Cultural as well as Natural sites. Nestled on the shores of a large picturesque lake, Ohrid was once home to 365 churches - one for every day of the year. It is easy to see why it earnt t...he nickname of the 'Jerusalem of the Balkins’. With a warm mediterranean climate, it is an incredibly beautiful city that is host to a modern blend of Macedonean, Turkish and Albanian cultures. One of the most beautiful vistas is from the Church of Saint John - situated on the cliff over Kaneo Beach. Believed to have been built in the 13th century, restoration works revealed amazing frescos in its dome! We love walking the over-water boardwalk towards the little fishing village of Kaneo - and the various bars and little cafes and restaurants along the way offer the perfect spot from which to relax and admire the crystal clean turquoise water, quaint fishing boats, old growth cypress trees, fragrant gardens and rocky outcrops. Did you know that Lake Ohrid is an ancient lake - one of the world's oldest - and the deepest lake in the Balkans? It is believed to be connected by underground channels to Lake Prespa to the southeast. Want to walk this scenic boardwalk and see these little lights for yourself? 04.01.2022 #FestivalFriday Serious about your #Okoberfest traditional costume? Keen to dig out your #lederhosen! On 17 October 1810, Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen were married in a field - an Wiese or meadow - now known as Theresienwiese. This open field, the size of 60 soccer fields, outside of Munich now serves as the location for #Okotberfest - the world's largest public festival. ... Of course you don't have to wear a colourful traditional costume to enjoy a traditional german brew in October - but it seems to be exta fun for those that do. To avoid a ‘fashion fail’, you need to know where to tie your Dirndl and where to wear your Loferls. To avoid unwanted advances, ladies should tie the bow on their Dirndl to the back! And while shorter necklines empahsising the décolleté may be on trend for the ladies, don't even think about turning up your hem - especially if you intend to dance on the tables! Loferls - or ‘stutzn’ or ‘beinhösl’ - are fancy german legwarmers warm at the calf - socks are not required! Contrary to popular belief, both men and women can wear Loferls - traditionally made from lamb's wool. However, those for women are often from a much finer yarn. And our tip for the perfect Oktoberfest footwear - go for a buckle strap with a Cuban heel (sneakers and boots are a fashion faux-pas). Top off your look off with a flower garland or a tradioitnal bavarian hat and it's your round! Keen to join out 2021 tours to Germany? Call our festival team on (02) 9974 1824 to discover departure dates and the available excursions for next Ocotber! https://www.libertytours.com.au//18-day-enchanting-europe/ #travelagent #beerfestival #traditionalcostume #Dirndl #Travelphotography #InternationalHoliday #Travelplanning #luminosity #Loferls #EuropeanHoliday #holidayphotography #Munich #Wiese #GermanHoliday #Holidayplanning #Theresienwiese #fashionfail #traditionaldress #ilovemytravelagent #Aussiesabroad #myholidaysabroad
04.01.2022 #tropicalTuesday Know the difference between a Blue Hawaii and a Blue Hawaiian? Both of these alluring blue cocktails are based on rum, pineapple juice, Blue Curaçao - and usually Vodka!... To make it a Blue Hawaii (created at Honolulu’s Kaiser Hawaiian Village in 1957) use sweet and sour mix - best shaken with ice and strained into a Collins glass. To make it a Blue Hawaiian (also created in Hawaii in the 1950s) add coconut creme and crushed ice and blend all ingredients until smooth (or give it a shake for a frothier version). Best drunk by the pool so it lives up to its nickname of the "swimming pool cocktail". Too sweet? Add a squeeze or two of lemon juice. And do remember the garnishes - they make it a cocktail - we suggest a traditional pineapple wedge and colourful paper umbrella garnish - perhaps a maraschino cherry.... Easier still - have someone else make it for you! Did you know that Blue Curaçao is from the Caribbean and made using the dried peel of the Laraha citrus fruit - a punchy organge flavoured aquamarine coloured liqueur Either cocktail will transport you to your dream tropical island paradise until holidays resume! 03.01.2022 #ScenicSaturday Ever seen a Kelpie? Not the hard working Aussie cattle dog, but a mythical shape-shifting Celtic water spirit - said to have the strength and endurance of ten horses. Part of Scottish folklore, these black horse like creatures can apparently take human form. Most Scottish lakes and lochs have a Kelpie-linked legend, usually about guiding safe passage. They are protective creatures - warning children to stay clear of dangerous stretches of water and defending... the virtue of young maidens! The easiest way to see a Kelpie today is to visit Falkirk, where two 30-metre-high (100 ft) steel sculptures, known as The Kelpies, dominate the landscape. Creating an imposing gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, this pair are the world’s largest horse sculptures. Created by artist Andy Scott, they were completed in October 2013, The Kelpies were officially opened by HRH Princess Anne on the 8th July 2015. They have since become a popular five-star tourist attraction and are part of a wider area known as The Helix - a parkland development that offers cycling, walking, watersports, located between Falkirk and Grangemouth. The sculptures each weigh in at around 300 tonnes the same weight as 300 Clydesdale horses. And while the artworks took nine years from conception to completion, it needed just 90 days for the 18,000 steel pieces that form each horse head to be put together on site like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Planning a trip to bonnie Scotland? Then add The Kelpies to your list of must see places to visit! 02.01.2022 #TropicalTuesday Say Aloha! Secluded, warm and lush, the islands of French Polynesia are a dream tropical destiation!... Famous for its hospitality, #Tahiti is the largest in a chain of 118 islands and atols that make up French Polynesia - and many of the smaller islands remain uninhabited. Tahiti, one of the society islands, is circled by mountains and is home to valleys, clear streams, and high waterfalls in its interior, with black sand beaches to the East and white sand beaches to the West. Located between Los Angeles and Sydney, the islands share the same timezone as Hawaii - and they are just as far south of the equator as Hawii is to its north. Many journeys start in Faa'a Internaltional Airtport in Papeete, a nine-hour flight from Sydney. Tahiti is home to some incredible tropical flowers - Tiari Tahiti is a small, white, seven-petal blossom with a sweet, delicate scent often used in massage oils. Other more well kown Tahitian flowers include Hibiscus, Frangipani, Orchids, Gingers and Jasime. One of the rarer flowers in the region is the Tiare Apetahi which only grows on Mount Temehani on the sacred island of Raiatea. This amazing bloom has five delicate petals, resembling a fan, which close at dusk, and reopen with soft crackling sound at dawn. A tragic polynesian legend tells that the sound is that of the heart of a Tahitian maiden breaking. While you are unlikely to see a Tiare Apetahi, you can take a self guided walk around the Harrison Smith Botanical Gardens in Papeari. Take the red trail to see exotic flowers and water lilies, then discover the purple trial that leads to the swamp trees with their amazing roots. Another small walk leads to the beach with views over the bay. Known for culture, music and dance, Tahiti is a brilliant place for a holiday with something for everyone. After exploring the island, relax at night with a cocktail, or perhaps take in a cultural dance show. Paradise is waiting! Ready to cruise into 2021/22? Call our cruise experts on (02) 9974 1824 and discover when you can board a beautiful ship and sail into the tropics! https://www.libertytours.com.au/tropical-cruising-2021/
02.01.2022 #SunlitSundays Good morning from Kaikura. The most northern district in the Canterbury region, we love the relaxed seaside feel of this wonderful New Zealand town that looks out over the South Pacific Ocean.... Just north of the wine region of New Zealand's South Island, it's a great mix of traditional maori culture, and an area of lovely natural beauty - with a host of opportunities for walks and cycling tours. Panoramic view of the Kaikura peninsula are on offer from the summit of Mt. Fyffe - one of the more popular holidaymaker hiking trails. Oh - did we mention the abundance of marine wildflife? Sperm whales, dusky dolphins, seals and albatross all year round - and at times Orca, Humpback Whales, Blue Whales and many other coastal seabirds. At Liberty Tours, we have a special fondness for the little Hector’s dolphins which can sometimes be spotted off the coast. 01.01.2022 #ThrillseekerThursday Looking for a whale of a time? Let us take the stress out of your next holiday and help you head offshore to catch as whale or two as they frolick off our east coast during their annual migration. The Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park is the perfect place to go whale watching at this time of the year. But its not just humpbacks - you can also spot dolphins riding alongside your ship, witness flocks of oceanic sea birds out at sea and perhaps say hel...lo to family of fur seals lazing on the rocks at Cabbage Tree Island. Keen to discover more? Call Agustina on (02) 9974 1824 or visit https://www.libertytours.com.au//6-days-road-trip-north-c/ Great school holiday idea! But remember - the whales hang around until November, so off peak options are also on offer. #whalewatching #humpback #NSWholiday #portstephens #portstephenswhales #greatlakesMarinePark #eastCoastNSW #humpbackwhales #dophins #dophinecruise #whalewatchcruise #ilovewhales #iloveportstephens #furseals #photoholiday #localcruise #aussiecruise #schoolholidayNSW #schoolholidaySydney #schoolholiday#ilovetravel #ilovemytravelagent #ilovetravel #travelagain #traveldreams #keepingtraveldreamsalive
