21.01.2022 A BABY RANGER IS BORN The club is ecstatic to share our tireless winger Jeremy Raniti and his beautiful wife Stephanie have welcomed into the world Cooper James Raniti! Cooper is doing very well, weighing a healthy 3.25kg and 49.5cm tall.. he's almost as tall as Daddy already! If Cooper can run half as much as his Pa, he'll make a fine player in the future. ... 12.01.2022 As a community minded club, we do our best to ingratiate ourselves within the community of Footscray. Over our short existence we have raised in excess of $6,000 for charitable causes, run multiple free children’s clinics to improve children’s wellbeing and recently donated a box of soccer balls to the local community free of charge for children to play with during lockdown. We walked past the ground today and found our clubrooms and equipment had been vandalised, our soccer... goals broken into pieces and some even outright stolen. For a club who tries to give back as much as we can, especially during this difficult time we are heartbroken. Someone thought so little of what we try to achieve, that this was a warranted action. There will be better times ahead, but today is a dark one for us. #footscray #hansenreserve

10.01.2022 SEASON CANCELLED The Footscray United Rangers Football Club will not play senior football during the 2020 season. Following recent developments of Vicsoccer’s cancellation of their association football and the reinstatement of stage three lockdown restrictions in Victoria, the club will not participate in an organised league structure for 2020. ... We would like to thank our players, coaches, sponsors, volunteers and fans of the club for all of their patience, well wishes and support over the course of the last five months. We have built a tremendous community of talented, inclusive and valuable members of West Footscraya and the wider shire and while this setback hurts we will redouble our efforts to be ‘The Best in the West’ in preparation for season 2021. We wish our community all the beat during the next six weeks of lockdown, stay safe everyone.

09.01.2022 THIS IS WHY WE PLAY Over the next little while, we will be bringing you bite-sized stories about the club; we have asked our players what it means to play for a us and to share their favourite football images (related to the club or otherwise). In 2016 a small group of my mates sat down at the front of a pizza shop in Essendon, with a dream. We had played football before, but we lurched from club-to-club without ever really feeling at home. So we founded our own club, a... place where we could feel welcome, we could have fun and where we could grow. The club started out as a team of mates, and four years on I am so proud to lead a club where we have a community of talented, hard-working and principled young people that come together in aid of something bigger every weekend. The lockdown has put the brakes on this season, but we’ll be back and aiming to be ‘ The best in the West’ once again. 08.01.2022 Club Announcement re: COVID-19 The Footscray United Rangers wishes to advise that effective immediately all Football related operations at the Footscray Rangers Football Club is suspended until Tuesday 14 April at the earliest. In light of advice from peak Footballing bodies, social distancing recommendations and Victorian Government directives, all club practice matches, formal training sessions, and events have been suspended until further notice. Our club Season Launch oc...curring on March 28 has also been postponed indefinitely in line with this decision. This decision is not taken lightly, especially given the ability of football to strengthen community ties & improve fitness and emotional wellbeing. 07.01.2022 CLUB ANNOUCEMENT: A FAVOURITE SON DEPARTS The club has been informed this evening, that one of the clubs longest serving custodians Joel McAndrew will depart the club for the sunny shores of Newcastle. Joel came to join the club in one it's earlier incantations in Dallas, 2012 alongside his brother the dynamic midfielder Aaron McAndrew. Joel joined the club as a 17 year old completing his Year 11 studies, presenting as an enigmatic left-side midfielder with a big engi...ne and eye for goal. It wasn't long before McAndrew challenged incumbent top-goalscorer Dylan Mantinieks for top goal-scoring billing and helped to shoot the team up the table alongside his brother. A move to the striking position beckoned for goal, his deadly finishing from just inside (Or on a number of occasions, outside of the box!) made him a nightmare for defenders in the FFV Sunday league for a number of years. Joel also began to make a name for himself as a goalkeeper, making a range of high-profile saves for the senior squad eventually turning his hand to a goalkeeper full time. If only there were three Joel's; one at keeper, one in midfield and one at striker!! Joel was a founding member of the Rangers Football Club, bringing a high standard of Goalkeeping and occasional forays into midfield when called upon when numbers were low and the great form of up-and-coming keeper Kester Jansen free'd him up to play on the field. Joel will be joined in Newcastle by his lovely wife and staunch Rangers supporter Kimberly, as they embark on studies near the F3 who we will also miss on the touch-line. Joel, your contribution to the club has been enormous and we will miss your outstanding quality, Goalkeeping expertise at training and watching you whip the ball into the top corner of the net on many occasions. Please join us in sharing your memories of playing with this giant of the club. Goodbye, for now

01.01.2022 GET TO KNOW OUR COACHES Jackson Guo, Reserve Assistant Coach Prior to taking on the coaching role at Footscray Rangers, I was involved in community leadership programs and community projects around Maribyrnong. I also played for Melbourne Lions FC who were in the same league as the Rangers. Once I stopped playing club soccer, I figured why not combine my passions community and soccer?. Fortunately, Footscray Rangers were looking for a 3rds and 4ths coach in 2019... and the rest is history. My goals for the 2021 season are to help the players grow as soccer players and personally, in order to lead the club to victory in the right way. In the long term, I would love to grow this amazing club to become part of Footscray’s rich story and history.
