24.01.2022 As we work to coordinate our veterinary teams across our three clinics, we wish to advise our clients that the opening hours at the Lucas Veterinary Clinic have... changed slightly. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. From Monday March 22 the opening hours at the Lucas Clinic will be as follows: Lucas Veterinary Clinic 9 Merz Street Lucas Ph: 5303 9000 Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm Saturday: 9:00am - 12:00pm Our aim is to have three completely separate teams at each of our three clinics so that if one clinic is impacted by a case of coronavirus, we will be able to still care for our patients and provide services at one of our other clinics. Please rest assured that we are doing everything possible to continue to provide veterinary services during these uncertain times. Stay safe everyone! #lucasvet #wendoureevet #ballaratvet

24.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTS OF MARYBOROUGH (VIC) AND SURROUNDS!!! PLEASE READ AND SHARE!!! Recently we rescued 4 horrifically traumatized and neglected... breeding cats from a country pound. We have since become aware that there were in fact dozens of cats sold/given away before the council became aware of them. IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY OBTAINED A FLAT FACED CAT OR KITTEN IN THE MARYBOROUGH AREA AND SURROUNDS PLEASE SEEK IMMEDIATE VET TREATMENT FOR YOUR CAT. These cats have a plethora of both congenital defects and transmittable diseases, as well as most being extremely undersized. All of these cats and kittens were completely without any vet work or health checks, (potentially ever in their lives) many have serious UTI’s, some have deformities, most have severe stenotic nares that require surgery, some have entropion which will also require specialist surgery. Many of these cats are so sick and malnourished that they will potentially die in labour, should they already be pregnant or are allowed to become pregnant and there will certainly be many kitten deaths, should these incredibly exploited cats be used for breeding. IF YOU HAVE OBTAINED ONE OF THESE CATS AND CANNOT/DO NOT WANT TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE VET CARE OR WOULD LIKE TO SURRENDER THEM TO SQUISHIES SO THEY CAN RECEIVE ALL THE CARE AND VET TREATMENT THEY NEED, PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP.

19.01.2022 Veterinary Services and COVID -19 As the State of Victoria closes non-essential services in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we wanted to reassure our clients... that we will continue to provide veterinary services to the best of our ability. In order to facilitate this, we will be maintaining a client-free waiting room to help protect both our clients and our staff. When you arrive for your appointment we would like to ask you to please leave your pet in your vehicle while you check in with our reception team. Our receptionists will then give you further instructions. At this time we ask that you phone ahead for any drug or food collections, that you refrain from entering the premises if you are unwell and that only one person per pet attends any veterinary consultation. Thank you for your assistance and your support. Thinking of you all at this difficult time, The Partners and Staff Ballarat Veterinary Practice Wendouree Veterinary Clinic Lucas Veterinary Clinic

17.01.2022 What if I need to take my pet to the vet? Coronavirus rules and restrictions explained. For many of us, our pets are keeping us sane through all this craziness.... Right now, there's no Federal Government restrictions on vets as long as everyone's carrying out social distancing and hygiene measures as best they can. Agriculture minister David Littleproud issued this statement to the Australian Veterinary Association last week: "The Federal Government considers the role of veterinarians essential to the agricultural sector and therefore to our nation's food security but also in protecting companion animals and our nation's wildlife". Some vets are using 'telemedicine' or remote services where possible these services all vary state to state though. In Tasmania for example, taking an animal to the vet is specifically listed as an exception to the rules for leaving your house. The above is an excerpt taken from an article that appeared on the ABC website. 12.01.2022 Hi friends,I am well aware our animals are picking up on our anxiety during to the current situation. We are living in trying times indeed. Symptoms of anxiety ...can include excessive barking, yawning, panting, overgrooming, pacing, destructiveness , hiding, aggression, restlessness, drooling, urination and defecation in the home, repetitive behaviours. I have noticed an increase in calming blend purchases. Flower essences can be very helpful during these times for both dogs and cats. I am here for you all as usual and please do not hesitate to inbox me with queries on the best blend for your beloved animals. A vet check up is advised. Sending you much love! Pic: this is my darling Sarplaninac ‘Drago’ whilst we had a walk on my property yesterday. I do not ever advocate for a Sarplaninac to be off leash in public. See more

06.01.2022 From 11:59pm tonight, COVID-19 Stage 3 Restrictions apply throughout regional Victoria. Veterinary clinics remain an essential service and so the Ballarat Veter...inary Practice, Wendouree Veterinary Clinic and Lucas Veterinary Clinic will continue to help you to care for your pets. We are here to provide both routine and emergency assistance. In order to help keep everybody safe, we will continue to provide contact free consultations with our car park waiting room replacing our normal waiting room arrangements. Please book your appointment in advance and then on arrival at you chosen Clinic, remain in your car, telephone Reception and then a nurse will collect your pet and chaperone them throughout their consultation. Your veterinarian will call you prior to examining your pet in order to discuss the reason for your pet’s visit. Similarly, if you require any medication, pet food or veterinary supplies, simply call ahead to order. Upon arrival at the clinic, call Reception and a team member will bring your order to your vehicle. Of course everyone is now required to wear a face mask. Although you are not required to wear a mask while driving, it would be wonderful if you could wear your mask when interacting with anyone from our team. Just remember, we are here to help you to take care of your pets during these unprecedented times. We will all get through this together. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. #staysafe

01.01.2022 In line with the latest Government guidelines, we are able to once again offer face to face consultations at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice, Wendouree Veterin...ary Clinic and Lucas Veterinary Clinic. If you would like to accompany your pet during their veterinary consultation, you may now do so by adhering to the following protocol: All appointments to be made by prior booking. Our 'Car Park Waiting Room' still applies.
