25.01.2022 Two new arrivals in Mara and Kat sees 5 lambs currently indoors while 6 frolick outdoors. This will be great for Felix, giving him friends while he is confined and going through his rehab. It will be a welcome and refreshing sight and sound to him, little one's of his own kind. Lambing season has certainly kicked off with a bang, and we are just getting started. It is a sad indictment on an industry, that it lives off the backs of the perished and dead.... It is estimated that between 15 - 16 million lambs die within Australia within their first 48 hours of life. This is equal to one-third of the 42 million breeding ewes all losing a lamb each year. Factor in, also, mortality rates of those older than 2 days of age due to disease or complications passed on at birth. Further still, the number of dead ewes due to birth complications or excessive breeding. No amount of money is worth an industry of this substandard. These lucky 11 will go on to live lives they otherwise may not have had. Hopefully they will survive and taste freedom and happiness at the hands of those who care. End the torture....end the slaughter. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

25.01.2022 Little Susan has fit right in at Furever Farm. Rescued only a month ago she is super comfortable, super confident and super happy. Whether it be feeding, mingling or dust bathing, Susan is enjoying her new found family. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

24.01.2022 Work was well underway at the farm today as shelter builders extraordinaires Kym & Garvan erected half of what will be a massive shelter for the animals in the Daisy May Paddock. Through a warm day these gentlemen.....and Darren....toiled away cementing part of the frame into very hard earth. With augers, jack hammers, crow bars and lots of energy both end frames were secured. There may be more to do - finish the frame and clad with iron - but it is under way and soon to be ...ready for the animals. Thank you heaps Kym & Garvan, such a mammoth effort again from two people that have become reliable in seeing the animals with shade. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

22.01.2022 There was movement at the station For the word had passed around At this place they don't kill animals They build shelters like funky town... They welcome all and sundry Whoever they may be Shade from sunshine and rain And safety for all to see The paddocks are filled with love And their hearts are open too They give you a home for life There, you're not just passing through So we head across the dry grass In search of this metal frame We find it, oh what a beauty And like us they'll give it a name We can't wait to sleep within this Place of thoughtful gain To be protected from the elements Today, tomorrow and then again It really is true, it's amazing Here we never come to any harm The voiceless, they come to speak In this place called Furever Farm. Words: Darren Appleby. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

20.01.2022 "Hey. Where's my shelter?" - Lambert. "You're sitting under the verandah, Lambert." - Us "Teehee.....oh, yeah!" - Lambert.... FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

20.01.2022 BB was enjoying his post op sleep but slowly came to, nodding off and on a few times along the way. We monitored him all the way, making sure there were no last minute hiccups. Ruminant animals don't always do well with sedation and anaesthetic and require a watchful eye even after surgery completion. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

19.01.2022 Thyme. Our beautiful Thyme. Don't ever tell us they don't have feelings, memories, intelligence. Don't even hint at it! Thyme is missing Lambert, her best friend who was by her side. Her fellow sheep and, to a point, her mentor and advisor as she grew.... Daily we witness Thyme calling, screaming as she stands still and simply looks around. She is vocalising, beckoning her friend that is no longer there. Her lost look is scanning as she searches to see and find Lambert. Of course, Lambert never comes, he can't return the call. Thyme, like many animals before her, is willing the return if her loved one. At the moment she is at her worst as her grief and misunderstanding cripple her sanctity. Something very special has been taken from her, stolen in the blink of an eye. They mourn when they realise, they grieve at the loss, they experience confusion and heartbreak as they simply wonder, why and where? We are here with you Thyme. We will comfort you as we can. We will answer your calls and try our best to explain just why Lambert does not respond. We know your calls are littered with love and anxiety. We miss him too beautiful. We wish he would answer. 19.01.2022 While we're on cats! Good old Winston. He likes his socks. He was in a playful mood indoors today so we amused him. 18.01.2022 This is an album where everyone can meet the residents of Furever Farm!

18.01.2022 Up and about, striking a pose and lapping up the attention, BB has turned his corner. We are nearly about ready to call this a success! BB 's healing has gone perfectly and his recovery devine. His demeanour has sky-rocketed and his acceptance, gentleness and happiness climbed that initial mountain. We're here for you BB. Welcome to the rest of your life. ... FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

18.01.2022 Awww. Malala was eating with the two big boys today. Larry and Lucas know how to be gentlemen when they want to. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

17.01.2022 Serena vs the roosters! Serena stuck her head out to say meow and Jobe & Ted thought they'd test her. Serena is no push over. She's got her eye on them! FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

16.01.2022 Wow! How much better does that look! No more swinging pendulum! The heavy, cumbersome and annoying weight that used to hit each leg as BB walked is no more. We just know he will feel so much more comfortable. This benefits not only from and aesthetic and comfort point of view but also from a future health perspective. BB can now get around so much lighter and gone will be the excess of testosterone. ... We couldn't be happier with the end result and we are so happy for BB too. Once his healing is complete BB will love not having that swaying, low hanging obstacle giving him grief. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

16.01.2022 Beautiful Nat. Always the first to the stimuli ball. She isn't fussed playing with it much.....she just wants the contents!! FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

15.01.2022 It's a tiring job staring down wayward roosters. Serena decided a rest was in order under the verandah and on the cushion. Still keeping her wits about her, Serena checked out what Thyme was doing at her feeder. Other than that, tired eyes started creeping in. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

15.01.2022 Donkey. Paint. Donkey and Paint.....just because!... These two have become the best of friends, especially since dining together in their slimming yards. Each and every day we see them standing together under the shade of the big tree and playing together, getting that important exercise time. Nothing quite like an equine miss mash! 14.01.2022 Excitement time!! Little Missy rejoined the Daisy May Paddock tonight. There was a reason behind this decision. Firstly, Missy is looking and doing so well! Her weight is great, her laminitis gone. At this time of year there is no green grass on the ground meaning that Missy is in no danger of sugar overload. Also, with Maggie's Paddock now so sparse we found Missy eating dirt, despite hay being available in her feeder. Horses and ponies ingesting dirt can lead to colic, whic...h is life threatening and dangerous. Therefore the decision was made to move her where, as you see, she will take up her time enjoying the other horses company and at least have dry grass should she wish to graze. Just as heartening seeing Missy excited with her return was viewing the reactions of the other horses. Gizmo, in particular, looked wonderful as he galloped and pranced at his little friends return. Welcome home Missy! FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

13.01.2022 To update everyone on dear BB, he is doing so well! Recovery is going a treat and thus far no negatives. The wound is looking fantastic and BB's happiness is growing daily. Gone is the struggle with spraying his wound several times daily and replaced by a boy who is now comfortable enough to just stand and let us treat him. After each treatment we give BB a nice kiss and cuddle. We stroke his back and reassure him that it's all okay and will be over soon. ... BB has taken to calling out to us whenever he sees us, willing us to come and say hello and give him a little pat. He is growing to love his place here and he will, soon enough, meet others like him. He will finally have his flock and people who love him. Photographs: Nelly Carson. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

13.01.2022 What! Who's that up in the trolley causing mischief? Ha! Ruby of course....who else! Otis is off to the side like a gentleman eating properly from the table. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

13.01.2022 The beautiful Skittles eating straight from the hand. Once a frightened boy, too scared to come within seeing distance of you is now the gentle boss of Maggie's Paddock and coming up for visits and food. It's a tried and proven method isn't it, this love thing. It takes far more time, energy and stress to be mean than to be kind. Imagine, just imagine if everyone were to realise this and apply it to all living beings. ... FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

12.01.2022 Animals know.....and they care! This was the constant during BB's surgery today. Donkey stood watching and didn't move until it was all over. Likewise, the goats hung around while the business was done. Animals sense, they know, when another is in trouble or may be in danger or distress. They will stand by to comfort, observe or even protect if they feel it is necessary. ... Donkey & Co knew that we were doing the right thing today, that we were not out to hurt BB but rather help him. None the less, they stood close in case BB slipped into trouble. Animals, in our opinion, have a far greater sense of astuteness than humans will ever have. They are clear thinkers and don't cloud their judgements. Again, we could learn so much from them. 12.01.2022 Whilst working in the Daisy May Paddock we visited our beautiful boy today. Each and every animal that has passed at Furever Farm has their own special resting place. All are marked with our personal words; heartfelt, genuine and honest. Our big cuddly bear. Loving, gentle and beautiful. All words that describe dear Charlie so well. Like their animal family, we occassionally stop and remember. We afford them the same dignity, resprct and love in death as they deservedly rece...ived in life. We stop, we kneel and we talk to the babies that stole our hearts. We picture them, for we will never forget them. We sit in silence at times just allowing the memories to come flooding back and the tears to flow. Even as we work and walk past any of our babies resting spots we must look and vision as we pass. It can't be helped, it's what you do when you have loved someone that much. Today it was Charlie. It was nice to sit with you today dear soul and feel your presence, remember your beautiful face and experience, again, your gorgeous personality. Tomorrow it may be another resting place. The same feelings and respect will flow. For they are not gone as long as we have a memory. They will forever sit within our hearts. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

11.01.2022 Meanwhile, back at Maggie's Paddock they were all either wondering where Missy had gone.....or celebrating her disappearance...... No! Never. Mr. Paint was calling out for his Missy and everyone decided to play. Gorgeous. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

10.01.2022 Beautiful....and important. Mumma Ambrose is on weight gain feeds now as her 15 year old frame becomes a tad thin and weary. It's an important part of her daily life now as we strive to do the same for her as we successfully did for Gizmo. It's also so beautiful as it means we get to have super close time with the girl that always remains at arms length. Now, as we hold her container to avoid sheep chaos, we are not only right in front of Ambrose, but giving her subtle touc...hes as well. Its things like this that can see an animal turn a corner and trust going forward. It is interesting to note the mannerisms of her boy, Chester. He does not attempt to take any of his mums feed, instead watching over her to ensure all stay at bay. At one point, as Chester felt new addition Napoleon was getting too close, he stood between Ambrose and Napoleon to guard his mumma. No aggression, no fighting, just blocking the way and letting Napoleon know not to interfere. So gorgeous. There is something about animals eating as well! We find their chewing, facial expressions and looks of joy to be wonderful. Innocence does have a face. We live around it every day. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

09.01.2022 This morning it was Betty scaring us half to death. With Thyme calling out and us greeting all, Ms. Betty didn't move. 08.01.2022 Oops. Another post that was not destined for this page. But to those who have seen it, let me explain. Pulled over to save a koala that had fallen out of a tree. Stayed with him till he regained full conciousness and ushered him off the road and back up a tree. Did a U-turn then........... Because we care! Some kind people pulled over and saved me! 4 WD me out of the fix. Poor Furever Farm ute. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

08.01.2022 And he was on his way. Lorry was excited to be back in a car and out for a drive. He was the perfect passenger.....although a bit of a back-seat driver! And, he only peed and pooped several times..... FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

04.01.2022 Thyme is staying with us and the team more now. If she isn't calling she is looking for Betty or company. We're lucky enough to be able to give her some of that comfort in the vollie/visitors room. Whenever were having a break, some lunch or just a coffee, Thyme cheekily peers over the table to see what we are doing....and if anything we are doing is edible!! We're so happy for you to join us Thymey Thyme. We're all here for each other at the farm. ... FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

04.01.2022 At the end of the day, full of emotions, we have so many lucky rescue animals waiting to make us smile. Rosie, Furever Farm's first ever resident pig, is always on hand for a chat. As the sun sets we scratch a nose, tell them we love them and keep smiling knowing they are alive and well. FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

04.01.2022 And Lorry arrived at his new home. As you can see he has it all. A dam, lots of trees, green green grass, hard shelters for bedtime, friends AND a reunion with some very special family!! Lorry has gone to live with Joaquin, River and Bobby!!! He will also have some other friends in sheep and more calves. As soon as they met again Lorry and the calves remembered and knew each other. It helps us feel good knowing that Lorry won't be alone tonight, that he will have some friends... by his side. The calves even came to Darren's call with River reverting back to old habits suckling Darren's hand. When he was left Lorry had completely forgotten about us! He was too swept up in all that green grass and old mates. Ahhh, grass. One day we will have some!! FUREVER FARM - Where the voiceless come to speak

02.01.2022 Furever Farm needs you! We are in the process of restructuring our Fundraising Team. The running of a sanctuary and the care of the beautiful animals is expensive, so fundraising is much more of an important aspect than many would think. We need people who want to drive this bus with us! Eager forward thinkers who don't just wish to put the foot forward but hit the ground running. ... Please, message us if you want to volunteer your time and become part of the Furever Farm family which, of course, includes the animals! They need our help NOW! We need your help NOW!
