16.01.2022 Thank you to all that applied for our customer service role! We are overwhelmed with the response! We are currently working through the applications and hope to introduce to you some new faces very soon!

16.01.2022 If you have noticed lately, our little clinic is getting busier and busier. I'm sure many of you who have called up for vaccination appointments are aware of the current 2 - 3 week wait time to get in. The situation we are in, is quite simply we do not have the staff numbers to be able to see everyone straight away. The reality of the vet industry right now is that veterinary professionals are leaving the industry in great numbers, in fact Dr Claire came to us with a statisti...c last week that almost 50% of veterinary professionals have left the industry in the last 10 years. There are quite simply not enough vets and nurses to fill the required rolls. There is a wonderful post put up by the The Vet Lounge at the Gold Coast. Please do yourself a favour and have a read. Gives a great insight into the issues facing our industry. What it means for Furkids. We will always have space and will always prioritise genuine emergencies and we will always do our utmost to see every patient. We are putting in place specific vaccination and de-sexing days, so that we can do our best to look after these patients. We will always have appointments reserved for same day emergencies. We will prioritise loyal clients first and foremost and we believe we have a duty to those locals around our area. We are still very much a family owned practice with a big belief in our local community. However all we ask is that people understand that there is only so much we can get through, only so many cases in a day and I as a practice owner will simply not have my staff work 12 hours a day, day in day out. I'm sure that is not expected at your work so please don't expect it of us. Our vets can not work at full capacity hour after hour, day after day. It will mentally break them and it will result in less than perfect medicine. Please give us notice for routine procedures such as vaccinations. Please bear with us if you are booked in and have to wait because a more pressing case has walked through the door unexpected. That could be you one day. If we say that we can not see you when you want to be seen, please understand we are doing this because we can not give you the service that you require at that time. No business turns away paying clients if they do not have to - understand that when we do it, we are doing it because your animal needs care and we simply can not, at that time offer the standard of care you deserve. We will always give you alternatives and WE WILL always do whatever we possibly can to look after your Furkids. Our clients are wonderful understanding people and I am constantly blown away with how the great majority of clients do their best to work with us. Our vets and nurses will bend over backwards to help you out whenever we can and will always do so. Thanks and here is a little covid pregnancy pic for you and a bundle of happy staffs

14.01.2022 Happy Monday! Just a reminder that we will be CLOSED tomorrow for Australia Day. If you have an emergency, please contact The Animal Emergency Service on (07) 34231888 for urgent assistance. Have a great day!

09.01.2022 Happy Friday - Here are some ultrasound images of pups. One confirmation and one pre whelp check. For those who are interested we ultrasound for pregnancy confirmation and for timing of births particularly those that are preparing for c-sections. If timed correctly and if done by a skilled ultrasonographer with a high quality machine, then numbers at confirmation can be very accurate. This is also exceptionally useful when wanting natural births, so you know when she is done.... For planned caesarian sections, it is very important that pups are delivered when they are most ready. The majority of litters will be born 63 days from mum ovulating. However, depending on litter size or maternal distress, this due date can change from up to 3 or 4 days early, and even a couple of days after due date. So it is critical that we have as much information as possible when planning for a litter. Dr Jo will look at intestinal, lung and kidney development, as well as pup heart rates and overall health to ensure the best timing if planning caesarian sections or just wanting piece of mind that everything inside is looking as good as mum is outside. There is a great difference in an ultrasound that just confirms a pregnancy and one with exceptional quality. Just look at the images below ..... 1. 32 days guestation - this foetus is approx 15mm long 2. Pup with 8days to go ...licking at its paws (yes that is an eye and the lens is visible also, along with toes and teeth within jawline). We don't only use ultrasound for pregnancy, we use it to assist in complete medical workups (abdominal organ systems liver, kidney, bladder, pancreas etc can all be assessed) on any dog or cat
