22.01.2022 [CONBOOK] MARCH 31ST DEADLINE! If you would like to have the chance of getting your artwork and stories into our convention book. Now would be the time to get those rolling in! Our pages are 4530 high x 3331 wide at 300dpi. Anything that size and under would be acceptable. Full-colour background or transparent backgrounds are ok. PNG is the preferred file format. full page art MUST have a 5mm bleed area or some of it may be cut off Generic characters are preferred over person...al fursonas or characters (Be sure to make it clear if it is generic or personal). We also want to see new original art, not previously submitted works. Themed is always a plus and be sure to include your name, artist name and Weasyl, FA or Website link. 22.01.2022 Announcing that FurDU like MFC will be supporting those fighting the fires in NSW. Along with our current charity Fresh Start Rescue we will also be donating to the NSW Rural Fire Service.

21.01.2022 Hi everyone. We have news from the hotel that everyone's bookings (that haven't called to cancel) have now been changed to the new dates and confirmation emails sent out. If you haven't received one, please contact The Mantra by either calling , 07 5579 1000 or email [email protected]. dont forget to check your spam folders first! They are also now open to take bookings for next year, Lets make FurDU 2021 the year we book out the whole hotel! call or email them at the aforementioned contacts to get your room now, dont forget to mention that its for furdu to get the special rates!

21.01.2022 Hotel is still in the process of confirming the Accommodation rates for our event for next year. In the interim they are moving any bookings for guests that call up (they won’t move them of course until you call them) to the 2021 dates but will advise them we will contact them when the new dates are issued. All room types that are currently booked will just be rebooked under the new dates i.e. like for like. Anyone that calls to book a suite that is currently not in a Suit...e will be advised that the hotel cannot confirm until such time that all other guests currently booked in Suites have re-booked on the new dates. For those that have booked in the overflow hotels We have reached out to the other properties with the update and they will endeavour to keep and re-book if available, again they are working on the rates. Guests may wish to cancel at the other properties all together and re-book with Mantra as they have now increased the allotment of rooms at Mantra on View. please call during business hours 9- 5 See more

21.01.2022 Hi folks, In the past week we have sold over 200 registrations with 150 of them this weekend alone, completely selling out 5 months before FurDU even starts! We understand a lot of our friends both near and far are disappointed from missing out and we are actively looking at a solution that will enable more of our furry friends to attend. 15.01.2022 At this stage, FurDU will continue to be held and we will follow all advice given by the Australian Government and cancel only if necessary or made to do so by either the Government or the venue, Mantra on View We are putting management plans into effect at this years FurDU to reduce the risks, and working with the hotel on these issues but hygiene is also up to attendees, we can supply soap but we cant make you use it. 13.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FURDU 2021 As you know with Covid, most cons didn’t run last year and a lot is not running this year. As of typing, this FurDU ...is going ahead with a few important changes! We ask you to read this announcement in full so that you know what is going on: NO REGOS WILL BE SOLD FOR THIS YEAR! Do not turn up hoping to buy one at the door. Right now our hotel Mantra on view is allowed to have 500 people in total in con space, that’s 250 per floor, we will be counting people in and out so that this limit is observed, by the time May arrives this may change, hopefully for the better. People will be temperature checked and you will also be asked to sign in via a QR code as per current laws, if you refuse to do so you will not be allowed in con space. We will be asking attendees to wear a mask in the Dealers Den, since keeping social distance will be a bit harder in there and we will also be limiting the number allowed in at a time. Adler will unfortunately not be able to attend, but we will have him here eventually when it is safe to do so Magicdawolfy is currently still attending as our other Guest of Honour, but again that is dependant on borders and travel restrictions We do have other people in mind as our GoH so stay tuned for that! Head dryers will not be set up this year in the headless lounge, it will be almost impossible to keep them sanitised, we’ll still have the fans and water available Lastly and importantly We will not be auto rolling over registrations to 2022 unless you request it You have until April 25th, 2021 to request either a refund or a rollover If you decide not to come be sure to cancel your hotel room (if you have one booked), the hotel will charge you if you don’t turn up. If the con must cancel again, then we will auto rollover (fingers crossed that doesn’t happen) We ask you to be patient and understanding with all the changes, they are there to keep us all safe after all. 12.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the new laws banning gatherings over 500 people, and our concern for attendees health, FurDU will be postponed until 2021 While we could drop numbers or argue that we aren't a static event I believe we have a duty of care to help flatten the curve Our new dates will be Friday 7th Sunday 9th of May 2021... We will be offering refunds of course but we will also allow those who already have rego to keep them for next years con, this will give you a guaranteed spot, current dealers will also keep their table in the Den if they take up this option. For those who want a refund, please keep in mind that we will have a few to process and also refunds can take up to ten business days to go back on the card used. So please be patient. The hotel has informed us they will honor any bookings at the con rate that have been made, so you are still welcome to have a holiday at surfers paradise. you will need to remember to cancel any hotel bookings if you don't go, otherwise a no show fee will apply For those who have booked flights, its worth checking to see if they will defer to next year as well. please send an email to [email protected] to either get a refund or defer to next year Our theme for 2021 will stay as Mad Science Stay well and we hope to see you all in May 2021 Foxy and the FurDU Board

12.01.2022 A matter has been brought to our attention in recent weeks, so we would like to provide clarity, and avoid some confusion caused by inaccurate third party information. During routine maintenance of our systems, a portion of data was illegitimately interfered with by an individual without our authorisation or consent. At the time, the individual appeared to report a temporary vulnerability to our team in good faith. As such, while we quickly resolved the issue, we were unfort...unately unaware of the full extent of this disappointing conduct until their recent public disclosures. In response we have conducted a thorough investigation, and notified the OAIC who have reviewed the matter and are satisfied with our actions and response, and advising that our communication channels such as Telegram are proportionate and appropriate . We have also made several adjustments, including what information is printed on the registration tickets, and reviewing our data storage and security strategies. We have advised the third-party hosting company for them to investigate the matter themselves further, and have received updates from them. Finally, we shall continue to actively consider the matter regarding further action that may be taken in response to this unacceptable conduct. We are more than happy to provide further assistance to anyone - if you have any further questions about this matter, we encourage you to please contact us at [email protected] or [email protected]. 03.01.2022 Here is a map of the con space layout for this year as you can see the headless lounge will not be inside conspace. it will be in the private dining area of the restaurant, for this reason we remind people to NOT leave any personal belongings in there. Its not a storage room and we wont be sparing a staff member to be in there to look after things left behind. On level four there is no longer a pool, instead we have a spa deck where the tennis courts used to be
