24.01.2022 UPDATE For those following Ronnie's journey, we have a final, happy update for you The vet who was caring for Ronnie fell in love with him and adopted him! He's settled in at home and is doing well. He's still due for some more tests but then will hopefully be able to come off his antibiotics. Dora is a manx cross cat who has no tail and is looking for a family to love her just the way she is. Dora enjoys spending time with people, especially when there's the opportunity to crawl into your laps on the couch and have a snuggle whilst having a movie marathon or a netflix binge. If your looking for this the...n this girl is for you! Dora can be delicate and sensitive to loud noise and surroundings but she is extremely well behaved. It's not very often you find a pretty little face who never jumps on tables or scratch your furniture! She absolutely loves interactive toys especially her cat catcher teaser and hanging with her 2 legged friends. Now Dora is a bit of a special needs girl who requires a home who is going to understand her history and ensure she gets the utmost care for the rest of her days. Dora who has a lot of love to give would enjoy being an only cat in with no children or other pets. Dora has a history of seizures and while in the pound she had her most recent seizure. She has been assessed and it was determined that the seizures in the past may have been caused by stress and poor care. In saying this, her condition is currently under control and she is doing very well. 20.01.2022 Dora entered into foster care whereby she was required to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks as FF is cautious not to spread any possible infections around the foater carer's pets, so at this time Dora is in a boring tiled environment for her safety. But it was not forever. Since coming out of quarantine Dora has had a thorough vetcheck due to her history of seizures whereby it was determined that Dora needed to have a tooth extraction which can cost upwards of $500 to $1000. The... vet also determined that Dora's seizures may have possibly been related to stress and previous poor care. Dora was booked in for her tooth extraction whereby she was found to have had a cracked root. This is related to its evolutionary needs because while we rely on a grinding motion to break food down, a cat has sharp teeth to kill prey and tear it to a digestible size. 11.01.2022 Meet our sweet girl, Mimi! ^_^ Mimi is heavily pregnant with 6 kittens! She was surrendered to us this morning by local vet, since the owner can’t keep her. However, this means she is now in a safe, calm environment. Pregnancy in felines can be quite challenging and is similar to humans; the depletion of calcium in the blood stream can be life-threatening along with the risk of kittens being still born or getting stuck before delivery. Mimi is currently under the care of J...ojo and her sister Chloe, who has previous experience with caring for and fostering cats. Our goal is to find a suitable home for Mimi and her kittens. 10.01.2022 PSA Trigger warning - animal cruelty, animal death. A member of the Caboolture community has reached out to us to raise awareness of someone assaulting/killing cats in the area. The beautiful, 1 year old Lala was an indoor cat. However, one night, she escaped. In the hour or two she was outside, a horrible person hit her repeatedly with what is suspected to be a cricket bat. When her owner found her, Lala was badly injured and bleeding. Her owner rushed her to the local ve...t but very sadly, Lala's injuries were too great and she passed away. We are sending all our love and empathy to Lala's owner. This is a truly heartbreaking but all too common occurrence. Please, if you have reason to believe (or have witnessed) someone abusing, neglecting or otherwise harming animals in the Caboolture area (or anywhere), report them. Mimi is a fantastic mama, she lets the foster carer pick them up to weigh them and sometimes have a little cuddle, and as long as she doesn’t hold them for too long!
