Take any 6 of the 8 pills and divide them into two groups of 3 each. Weigh putting the 3 pills on each side of the scale. If one side weighs heavier than the other, the heavier side has the the poisonous pill. From the 3 pills on the heavier side, weigh 2 pills. If one pill is heavier than another, the heavy one is poisonous pill. If both pills weigh the same, the remaining third pill is poisonous.
