25.01.2022 Ok, it's Friday, which means Murphy's law says everything happens at once! lol. We have two important things to discuss here. 1. BYS Black Lipstick. This brand is in the process of transitioning all of its products over to vegan. At this point, not all of their products are vegan. One of our app users asked us to look into this today and we discovered that their black lipstick says vegan on the front, but contains beeswax in the ingredients. We have spoken to the manufacture...r at length today and this is a mistake. Because the beeswax is listed in the ingredients, this would be an old batch, but unfortunately someone at the manufacturer has put the correct back insert into the packaging, but has used the wrong front packaging. As the company has already changed the ingredients over on this product to remove the beeswax, this should not be a long term issue. From my conversations with the company today, I believe that this is an honest mistake as they are well aware of what vegan means and as I said before they are in the process of transitioning more of their products over to vegan. They are also PETA cruelty free certified. The company has sent us a detailed list of all of their products and we will be working on getting all of their products into the app database over the next few days. They have a lot of products, so it will take us some time to go through to ensure that we put the correct vegan status on each product. Going by the list, I would say that at least 60% of their products are currently vegan. It could be more, that is just a quick look at the list without going through the verification for each one yet. 2. 7 Eleven Veggie Pastie. One of our app users today purchased two of these from the same store. Unfortunately, one was vegan and the other one contained milk in the ingredients. Same product packaging, same barcode. We have spoken with 7 Eleven and are awaiting a response from them and we will update this post once we know exactly what is happening. In the mean time, please use caution if purchasing one of these products and check for milk listed as part of the glaze in the ingredients. Also, don't forget that Fussy Vegan Pro is on special for 40% off today, tomorrow and Sunday!
25.01.2022 WARNING! COLES HAS RECALLED THE NEW COLES VEGAN MERINGUE KISSES 100G We don't have full details yet as to why they are recalled, but the stores are pulling them off the shelf now. We will post an update once we have more info. If you have purchased these recently, do not consume any more until we find out what the issue is.... UPDATE - 24.11.2020 Coles has confirmed with us this morning that there is nothing wrong with the product itself and whilst anyone can return one if they want, there is no need to return this product, there is just an issue with the labelling that is not directly related to the product ingredients.

23.01.2022 I can't remember ever having a non vegan Up & Go, but these vegan friendly ones are delicious. Everyone loved them. We found them at Woolworths and the were available in both a 3 pack and a 12 pack, with the 12 pack being significantly better value for money.
23.01.2022 If you have not yet downloaded our #1 selling app, Fussy Vegan, you can get it this weekend for 40% off the normal price. The sale is available in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. https://apps.apple.com/au/app/fussy-vegan/id1439309304?ls=1 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
23.01.2022 The Sara Lee Vegan Dream Coconut Chocolate Bavarian is delicious! Surprisingly, the coconut was not overpowering in this at all. As with the Sara Lee Vegan Lime Key pie, this has no vegan tax at all, it is the same price as the other non vegan pies in this range. We found ours at Woolworths. As always, you can download our app here https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
22.01.2022 PlantAsia has recently release two new products, which are available at Woolworths. Plant Based Ribs - $8.50 They taste delicious. The only issue we have is that they are using this new trend of putting "fake" bones on vegan meat. It doesn't affect the vegan status of the product, but just are really off put by having a "bone" in our vegan meat. I mean what is next, a whole vegan chicken carcass? No thanks. Plant Based Chicken Skewers. $8.50 They taste delicious, and the sata...y sauce used is fantastic. Both of these products are small and you certainly aren't going to feed more than two people with them, but pricing is in line with other similar vegan mock meat products. If you have not yet downloaded our top selling Australian made vegan app, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
22.01.2022 We posted in June 2019 to say that Batiste was NOT VEGAN even though they were labelling their products both as "Cruelty Free" and "Vegan". Their products were not and are not certified cruelty free yet they were using a leaping bunny logo that was way too similar to the offical Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny logo. We confirmed with Cruelty Free International that they were not certified with them. Our original post on this can be found here: https://www.facebook.co...m/FUSSYVEGAN/posts/618831498594671 We discovered today that Batiste is no longer putting the "Vegan" or "Cruelty Free" claim on their products. In the attached image you can see an old product that is still in stores with the false cruelty free and vegan logo and the new one in the case behind it that has the claims removed entirely. This is the same for the whole Batiste range of products that we could find in store. We have always had them listed as not vegan in our app, but at least they have finally removed those claims now. Remember, even if a product says "cruelty free" or "vegan", we still do our own verification of those products to ensure they truly are vegan. 19.01.2022 Another day, another brand claiming their product is vegan when it is 100% NOT VEGAN. I am not going to get into the debate about whether "Cruelty Free Wool" is actually cruelty free or not as that is not relevant here. What is relevant is that Wool is an animal derived product and is NOT VEGAN under any circumstances regardless of any cruelty free, ethical or other claims. For those that might be new to veganism, no animal derived ingredient or product can ever be considered vegan, under any circumstances, full stop. This includes cruelty free wool, backyard eggs, honey, etc.

18.01.2022 We wanted to clarify the terms vegan and cruelty free as, quite frankly, we are sick of seeing so many cruelty free blogs/organisations try to say that something can be vegan but not cruelty free. Fact 1. The term "cruelty free" simply means no animal testing. Whilst some cruelty free certification orgs have recently changed their policies to only certify products that don't have animal ingredients as well, in general terms, and for most cruelty free certifications, a product... can be "cruelty free" and still contain animal ingredients. Fact 2. The term "vegan" has always and will continue to always mean no animal ingredients, no animal ingredients used in the manufacturing process AND NO ANIMAL TESTING. There is not a single vegan certifying organisation in the world that will certify a product as vegan that is still subjected to animal testing, full stop. Myth 1. A product can be vegan but not cruelty free, that is why you sometimes see both a vegan and a cruelty free statement on a product. Wrong! This is no different than when you see a vegetarian and vegan statement on a product. If it is vegan, of course it is also vegetarian, and it is unnecessary to include the vegetarian statement if the product is vegan. Manufacturers just use both terms for marketing reasons, which is the same thing when you see both cruelty free and vegan on a product. Of course if you see cruelty free but not a vegan statement, then the product might not actually be vegan. It is important to note that the vegan status of a product is based on the product itself and not the entire company or brand. Some cruelty free certifications will only certify an entire brand, and that is their choice of course, but that doesn't mean that a particular product from that brand that is not tested on animals is not cruelty free. One last point, at Fussy Vegan, we NEVER put our own opinion on whether a product is vegan or not. We follow the guidelines and standards set by the Vegan Society and we also consult with other vegan certifying organisations, such as Vegan Australia to ensure a consistent vegan status. There is also an upcoming ISO vegan standard that also is inline with what we have stated above. There are some cruelty free blogs that don't actually follow any certification standards and just choose to put their own opinion whether something is cruelty free or not. Of course, they have a right to do that, as long as people understand the difference between someones opinion and what is actually vegan. * Please note that there are of course other factors involved in whether a product is vegan or not, we have just kept it simple and in relation to the point of this post, otherwise this post could go on forever explaining all the ins and outs of what goes into ensuring a product is vegan :) If you have not yet downloaded our top selling vegan app, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
18.01.2022 You may have seen a few different posts going around about the new "McPlant" burger from McDonald's. If you are in Australia, do not get excited as McDonald's Australia has given the following statement: "We don't have any immediate plans for the McPlant to be launched in Australia," a spokesperson for McDonald's Australia said. However, we do still serve the vegetable-based McVeggie burger for customers looking for a meat alternative option." *Please note that the McVeggie p...atty contains animal ingredients and is not vegan. In addition to the above, we do know that the McPlant will be a Beyond Meat product, we do not know if they will be actually even offering it as a vegan option or just a plant based option, ie will they dedicate one of their clamshell grills for this or will they just be cooking it alongside the animal meat burgers. This is a question that might even be country specific, so if and when it eventually does come to Australia, we will then find out if they will be offering a vegan option, but in the mean time, as I said, not coming to Australia anytime soon, if ever.
17.01.2022 Plantein has a few new products out now. The Plantein schnitzels are far and away favourite schnitzels and the nuggets taste exactly the same, as they are the exact same ingredients, just cut into nugget size. What we love about these new nuggets is that you get the same amount (300g) for the same price ($7.50). Most brands charge more or give you less for the nuggets compared to the schnitzels, so well done Plantein with the pricing. We have not had a chance to try the Kievs... or the Burgers yet, but we will review once we have. Also, don't forget about our massive app sale on this weekend. Fussy Vegan is available for 40% off the normal price through to tomorrow on both iOS and Android. https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/fussy-vegan/id1439309304 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
17.01.2022 I ordered a pair of the new Vegan Adidas Superstar shoes. I bought the overseas version as this one looks pretty much identical to the non vegan version, where as the versions that Adidias is selling in Australia are slightly different looking. The shoe looks and feel exactly like the non vegan version. Quality is top notch, comfort is good.
16.01.2022 We finally were able to find the new Woolworths Plantitude 9 Petite Meringue Nests and they are delicious. I really didn't notice the Aquafaba taste at all, and I really don't care for that taste so I am very taste sensitive to it. $6.00 a pack. We found it in the bread aisle near the other meringues and prepackaged slices, etc. We have not yet found the Coles version, so we can't give you a comparison just yet. You can view a short video of the product in the link below. htt...ps://youtu.be/7pfArc8r-Rc As always, you can download our Fussy Vegan apps here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
15.01.2022 Some of the Coco & Lucas's Kitchen vegan products are on special this week and we picked up two to try and review. Meatless Lasagne - on special for $6.50, normally $8.00 This is a quality made product and at $6.50 on special, it is decent value for money. We wouldn't pay $8.00 for it though.... Meatless Cottage Pie - on special for $6.50, normally $8.00 Again, the quality is fine, although we did find the whole thing a bit too runny for a cottage pie, but that doesn't affect the taste, which is not bad.We might buy this again at $6.50, but not at $8.00. If you haven't tried these yet, get them when they are on special, and remember, regardless of what anyone else thinks of it, they only way you will know if you like it is to try it yourself :) If you haven't downloaded our Fussy Vegan app yet, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
13.01.2022 Woolworths has just released a new vegan apple pie. The cost is $12.00 for a 1kg pie and it is found in the bakery department. All I can say is get it in your belly! This is by far the best vegan apple pie found in any Australian supermarket. Forget the Vegan Apple crumbles from Woolworths, forget the Coles frozen apple pies, forget the frozen Nanna's pies. This pie literally makes every other supermarket pie taste like ass. It is that good. $12 for a 1KG pie is an amazing pr...ice. For comparison, the vegan Nanna's pies are $17.88 per kg. The Coles apple pie is cheaper at only $5.34 per kg, but the difference in quality is huge. https://youtu.be/Iw4FGXq_gFw You can download our Fussy Vegan apps here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
12.01.2022 Fable has recently released a couple of new ready made meal products, which are available at Woolworths. We tried the Stroganoff and it is absolutely delicious. Fable products are mushroom based, but they somehow manage to make it not taste like mushrooms too much. The ready made meals are $10.00 for 350g. Also, don't forget that we currently have a massive app sale with Fussy Vegan on sale for 40% off through Sunday. https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/fussy-vegan/id1439309304... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
12.01.2022 The Made With Plants Teriyaki Tofu tastes great. We didn't really taste much teriyaki flavour in it, so we would still recommend adding any sauce for flavour that you might want. We would certainly buy this again. The price was reasonable as well. This one is gluten free, which is rare for a teriyaki flavoured tofu. Also, our massive 40% off app sale finishes today! If you haven't downloaded our #1 selling app, Fussy Vegan yet, get it today and save 40%! https://itunes.apple....com/au/app/fussy-vegan/id1439309304 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
12.01.2022 Made With Plants has three new sauces out. They came out a month or so ago, but we are only now just getting in stores where we live. We haven't reviewed the mayo as their are plenty of vegan mayo options, we were more interested in the Burger Sauce and the Ranch Sauce. Made With Plants Burger Sauce - $4.50 for 320ml. Quality made product, but heads up, IT IS SPICY! Those of you that love spicy food will probably think it isn't spicy, but if you aren't a huge fan of spicy foo...d, give this one a miss. Because we found it too spicy, we wouldn't buy again, as our favourite is still the cheaper ($3.75 for 365ml) Coles Vegan Burger Sauce, which tastes exactly like Big Mac Sauce. It is good to have another vegan option, especially if you like spicy sauce. Made With Plants Ranch Sauce - $4.50 for 320ml. Quality made product and tastes nice. It is certainly a different tasting sauce than other ranch style sauces. Strong herb taste. We would buy this again. As always, you can download our apps here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
11.01.2022 Last day of our Fussy Vegan Pro (iOS) sale! You can download the app here: https://apps.apple.com//app/fussy-vegan-scan/id1457398900
10.01.2022 Ruffie Plant Based Creations Butter Chicken-less 350g is $7.00 and is available at Woolworths in the freezer section. We enjoyed the taste of this product and the only issue we had was we found the meat to be a bit soft and squishy, which is a bit of a put off for us, but the overall butter chicken taste was fantastic. For our Fussy Vegan Pro iOS users, we have added support for further product information including the following:... - Health Star Rating - Refined Sugar status - Added oil status - Nutritional Information * Please note that we will be adding the above information to each relevant product over the next few months, as you can imagine, it is a huge task and all information has to be entered manually into our database to ensure accuracy. We have also done a slight redesign of the product information page, which you can see in the attached screenshots. If you have not yet downloaded our Fussy Vegan Pro app, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
09.01.2022 for our iPhone app users, iOS 14 will be released to the public tomorrow. iOS 14 has the exact same device compatibility as iOS 13, so if your phone can run iOS 13, it can run iOS 14. Both Fussy Vegan and Fussy Vegan Pro are full compatible with iOS 14. We have been running iOS 14 on our own devices since late June and there are no issues with our apps running on iOS 14.

09.01.2022 Another product and another brand claiming to be "cruelty free" and again, we can't find any evidence that this product is actually cruelty free. Revlon claims that they don't do any animal testing, yet knowingly import and sell their products to China knowing that the Chinese government will test those products on animals. Many companies have choses not to sell in China for this reason and we would expect that a company like Revlon would get this product certified cruelty free as a minimum to back up their claim that this product is in fact cruelty free. Until such time as either Revlon stops selling in China or they actually get this product certified cruelty free, then we can't trust the company's claim of cruelty free for this product.
08.01.2022 Please note that we have seen screenshots of Coles Customer Service staff telling someone that the product does not contains milk and it is just a "may contain" statement, but this is WRONG. The updated ingredients clearly state that MILK SOLIDS are an actual ingredient. This is not a may contain warning, regardless of what Coles customer service staff are telling people. If milk is such a contaminate that they feel the need to put it in the legal ingredients list, then it contains milk. Full Stop.
07.01.2022 Woolworths have released their new vegan Christmas roast for this year. It is a new product compared to last year. Last year, it was more of a meat loaf than a roast, where as this year they have made an entirely new product that is much closer to other vegan roasts. Last years version was $10.00 for 600g, this years is $15.00 for 500g, so there is a massive price increase from last year, but as I said, it is also a different product. The new price, whilst more expensive that... last year is still reasonably priced compared with other similar products. Okay, now that we got all that information out of the way, lets get to the quality and taste. It is delicious. I haven't seen the Coles ones out yet this year, so hard to compare directly, but we will certainly have quite a few of these in the freezer to eat through the year. We found them in the fridge section where the other vegan meats are located and the expiry date was 31 December 2020. For those wanting to know how it compares to the Vegie Delights roast that is available all year, we prefer the Woolworths one, much better quality and taste. For those worried about wether this will be good for Christmas dinner, I would suggest buying one to try first as everyones tastes are different and then you can not stress about wether you will like it or not on Christmas Day. You can also view a short video of the product here: https://youtu.be/Z8BvNSG-umc Our Fussy Vegan app can be downloaded here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
07.01.2022 Made With Plants has a new range of Tofu products that are available at Woolworths. All three are gluten free as well, which is great, as so many of the flavoured tofus have gluten.
07.01.2022 A new member in one of the vegan groups innocently tried to post about these Aerogard plant based products being on special this week, so we thought it was a good opportunity to post about the difference between "plant based" and "vegan" for all of the people that may be just starting their vegan journey. "Plant Based" is a marketing term that has not set definition and in the past 18 months or so, manufacturers have ramped up its use. You may find plant based products that a...re vegan, and you may find plant based products that contain all manner of animal ingredients. In the example of these Aerogard products, they do not contain any animal derived ingredients, but as the purpose of the product is to kill insects and they are tested on animals means that they are not vegan. "Vegan" has set criteria, which are: 1. The manufacture and/or development of the product, and where applicable its ingredients, must not involve or have involved, the use of any animal product, by-product or derivative. 2. Any product developed, manufactured, or both, including its ingredients, must not involve (or have involved) testing of any sort on animals. 3. The development and/or production of GMOs must not have involved animal genes or animal-derived substances. 4. Any dishes that are to be labelled vegan must be prepared separately from non-vegan dishes. At a minimum, this means thoroughly washing surfaces and utensils before using them for vegan cooking. We strongly recommend obtaining a separate set of cleaning utensils for this purpose. * Whilst none of the above rules specifically state anything about the use of a product, as the purpose of veganism is to minimise harm to animals, products whose purpose is to kill or harm an animal are also not considered vegan. If you have not yet downloaded our Fussy Vegan app, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
06.01.2022 We managed to get our hands on all three of the new Bio Cheese products today and we have tasted and reviewed them all. Bio Cheese Parmesano Grated - We love this vegan Parmesan cheese. The grated is of course the same as the existing Bio Parmesano sold in a block. Certainly one of our favourites. Bio Feta Marinated - Bio Cheese already has an existing Feta that you can buy in a block, but having it in the oil with the seasoning is absolutely delicious! We will certainly be b...uying this again. Bio Creamy - A brand new product. Hands down the BEST vegan cream cheese we have ever had. Even better than Tofuti, and that is saying something because Tofuti is top quality. Coles is also now stocking the Bio Pizza Shred, but this is not a new product and has been available at Woolworths for ages. It is also nice, but we prefer the Bio Cheddar block at Woolworths for $6.00 and just shred it ourselves. As always, you can download our apps here: https://apps.apple.com//app/fussy-vegan-scan/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
05.01.2022 The Coles Christmas Roast is the same as last year and delicious. As much as we loved the Woolworths roast this year, the Coles one is slightly better. It is also better value at $12.00 for 800g vs $15.00 for 600g for the Woolworths roast. The Coles roast is not gluten free, the Woolworths one is. You can view a video of the Coles roast cooked here: https://youtu.be/tig27mYxvSg... Coles also introduced a new vegan pudding this year as well and it is also delicious. The Coles Plant Based Vanilla Sponge Pudding 400g is $8 and is really well made. You can view a video of the pudding here: https://youtu.be/sd1xPZnymPg If you haven't downloaded one of our Fussy Vegan apps yet, you can get them here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
05.01.2022 Please note that Green & Black's has recently change the recipe on a number of their chocolate products that were previously vegan, but now include animal milk in the ingredients. We have a few on the attached photo, but there are others as well. Both versions are still in stores, so please check the ingredients in store to see if it shows "milk solids" in the ingredients list, if so it is not vegan. IMPORTANT - If you shop online and have your groceries delivered, please jus...t assume that you will receive the non vegan version, as there is no way to tell without checking the actual packing of the product in store. If you have not yet downloaded our Fussy Vegan app, you can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details UPDATE- this post explains in more detail the issue with this milk in this product. https://www.facebook.com/308779862933171/posts/1016316408846176/?d=n
05.01.2022 Who makes a better hot cross bun, Coles or Woolworths? Well of course everyone is going to have a different opinion on that, but here are our thoughts: Taste - We prefer the taste of the Coles bun, but it isn't too different from the Woolworths one.... Quality - We tried to find the best packet we could find from each store and the Coles ones were a bit more fluffier, but again, not a massive difference. Ingredients - The Coles bun is made in Australia from at least 95% Australian ingredients and contains gluten, soy and palm oil. No sesame or nuts. The Woolworths bun is made in Australia from at least 71% Australian ingredients and contains gluten. No soy, sesame, nuts or palm oil. Both were priced at $3.50 for a 6 pack If you have our Fussy Vegan Pro app, you can also view a short video of each of the hot cross buns in the product information page. Hint: type in " vegan Easter" for a list of vegan friendly Easter products in our Fussy Vegan app database. 05.01.2022 We receive on average around 1000 product enquiries each week and probably 70% of them are for products where a supermarket website shows old ingredients and or old product photos. Out of those 700 or so enquiries, probably around 50-60 are for this one product, La Famiglia Kitchen Garlic Slices 270g. This product did previously contains dairy, but we have had it listed as vegan since May 2020. I know we have posted about this quite a few times before, but the biggest advice ...we can give anyone is to not trust any supermarket or even manufacturer websites to try and check the ingredients on a product. For each product sold in a retail store, there is only one place where the ingredients list has to be 100% accurate, and that is on the actual product packaging. The food labelling code in Australia does not mandate that supermarket or manufacturer websites have to have accurate ingredients lists. This post is not about having a go at Woolworths or Coles, but it is important to remember that supermarkets are in the business of selling you products, they are not in the business of providing you information about the products they sell. Any product information shown on a supermarket website is given as a "courtesy" only. In this instance, Woolworths would have been given product photos and ingredients from the manufacturer and they would have uploaded those to their website. After that, no one at Woolworths sits there and checks if the product images and ingredients are still correct, as I said, that is not their main business. At Fussy Vegan, providing app users with accurate product information is our main business. You may still come across a product where the ingredients have changed since our last assessment of that product, but the difference is because accurate product information is our business, we are pretty quick to get that information updated where required. 05.01.2022 Health Lab has recently released a new range of "healthy" vegan chocolate bars, all with "Sex and the City" names. These are $12.00 for four bars and are available in the health food aisle at Woolworths. We tried the Mr. Big Caramel and the Samantha's Cherry. The Cherry tastes similar to a Cherry Ripe bar, but not as sweet. The Caramel tasted quite sweet and was probably our favourite of the two. We know these sort of products are popular, but at $3.00 each for a small bar, w...e would only buy these again on special. 04.01.2022 Domino's has recently change their vegan cheese. Previously, they were using Follow Your Heart, a USA based company. They are now using a vegan cheese from an Australian company, Australian Plant Proteins. As was the previous cheese, the new cheese is allergen free but the new one is also palm oil free for those of you of the no palm oil persuasion. Please note that even though the vegan cheese is allergen free, all domino's pizza bases contains soy in the base, although the...y do offer gluten free bases. None of the vegan pizzas contain any nuts or sesame. So, and this is of course the most important factor for most people, how does the new cheese taste? DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't mind the Follow Your Heart cheese, but were never big fans of it and we didn't order from domino's much partly because if the cheese and partly because if the ongoing contamination issues we had with dairy cheese and or animal meats making it onto our vegan pizzas more often than not. For this review, we decided to go with a simple margherita pizza. Partly so that we could better taste test the new cheese and partly because we are still a bit weary of ordering a vegan meat pizza due to the before mentioned issues. We really love the new cheese and will definitely order again. As is the case for most people with vegan cheese products, you are either going to love it or you are going to hate it. If you liked the old cheese, give a try and see if you like the new one. If you didn't like the old cheese, then give a try and see if you like this one. You can view a short video of pizza we used for the review here: https://youtu.be/po9v7M50O6M We have extensive listings in for food chains, including Domino's in our Fussy Vegan app database and you can download our apps here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
04.01.2022 Naturli Chick Free 100% Plant Based 180g. Now available at Coles. At $9.00 for 180g, it is on the expensive side of vegan chicken style products. The quality is good, no issue there, but we really just do not like the pea based products Naturli is making. We have no issue with pea based products, in fact we love Beyond which is pea based, but just not a fan of the Naturli pea based products. The product is gluten, nut, sesame and soy free, so for those looking to avoid any o...f those allergens then this is a good option worth trying. You can check out a short video what the product looks like cooked here: https://youtu.be/u_Xt2zLlWQ0 You can download our apps here: https://itunes.apple.com//fussy-vegan-scan-p/id1457398900 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details
03.01.2022 These two product are incorrectly labelled as vegan. Both products contains Huy Fong Sriracha sauce, of which the manufacturer has confirmed, contains sugar that is processed using bone char. I have personally spoken with the Director of Austrend International, which is the Australian importer of these products and he has assured me that they will get the labelling changed to remove the "vegan friendly" statement from the packaging. It will be a few months before we will see ...the new and correct labelling in Woolworths stores. They have tried to get Huy Fong to use a different sugar supplier that does not use bone char, but to no avail. As always, we will monitor this situation to ensure that new labelling is done in the coming months. As we have said many times, it is important to remember that in Australia, there is no legal definition of the term "vegan", so you cannot just assume that a product that is labelled as vegan is actually vegan unless the product is either in our app database as vegan and or is certified vegan by a reputable vegan organisation such as Vegan Australia, Vegan Action, or the Vegan Society. It is not common, but we do come across products that are incorrectly labelled as vegan a number of times each year. 03.01.2022 Just because a product is labelled as "dairy free" does not mean the product is vegan. The entire Tasmania's Westhaven Coconut yoghurt range is dairy free, as in there is no dairy in the ingredients, however dairy is used to grow the probiotic cultures used in this product, making the product not vegan. This issue is similar to when gelatine is used to clarify apple juice, bone char is used to process sugar, or when egg, fish or dairy is used to filter wine. There are a coupl...e of cheap apps out there that promise to "read" the ingredients for you but unfortunately, these types of apps are useless for vegans as you can't tell if a product is vegan or not just by reading the ingredients. There is a reason those apps are either free of super cheap, no work involved on the developers part to actually check if any products are vegan or not. At Fussy Vegan, we actually verify all of the products listed in our app database to ensure we are giving our app users accurate and useful information about whether a product is vegan or not. 03.01.2022 We were hoping that the V2 Mince/Burger would be good as it is significantly cheaper than Beyond. Unfortunately that was not the case here. We tried the V2 mince, which is identical to the V2 Burgers, except that the Burgers have a bit of onion and herbs added to it. We found the mince to be very dry. We made two burgers and the rest as loose mince out of the one packet. The burgers were cooked on the bbq with no added oil, etc. The mince was cooked in the frying pan with a b...it of oil. Cooked, both were still horribly dry, even though we added a ton of the delicious Coles Vegan Special Burger Sauce and on the equally delicious Fry's Brioche bun. The mince was cooked in a bit of oil as I said, and we added salsa and sour cream and made burritos and nachos with the loose mince. Again, the dryness was still there even with loads of sauce on top of it. The taste was okay at first, but by the time we were done, we were both cleaning our teeth and mouth washing to get the taste out of our mouths. We really don't care for this product at all. We will stick with Beyond when on special or Made with Plants and Morningstar Mince. The Made with Plants is a good option if you are looking to purchase from an Australian company. Someone else has already reviewed the V2 Mince in our app and they loved it, so don't just take our word for it as everyone's taste is different. 01.01.2022 We posted the other day about the change of ingredients on the Green & Black dark chocolate products and this post is a follow up post to explain what exactly is going on. We have quoted a section of a food industry group document below: An allergen risk review anomaly (RRA), in relation to dark chocolate, and inconsistent labelling practices were identified by the confectionery industry. This occurs where dark chocolate is manufactured following production of milk chocolate,...Continue reading
