03.01.2022 "Robots working in abattoirs, sky-high vertical farms, more gene-edited foods in our supermarkets and automated farming systems could all help guarantee food supply in the next pandemic." https://phys.org//2020-07-post-pandemic-brave-world-agricu

03.01.2022 Our AgTech spotlight this week is on Hay Cap, a hay covering system. Developed by Lynda and Phil Snowden, Hay Caps are individual hay covers made from recycled ...plastic that are applied at ground level to the bale. The capped bale is then placed on top as the stack is built. Folds butt together, creating a roof over the hay. They used to use large tarpaulins extensively before inventing the Hay Caps but tarpaulins are dangerous to apply, expensive, prone to wind & rodent damage and don’t last long. They needed a safe, reusable & economical solution - there was nothing suitable on the market so they developed it themselves! The Snowden's do all the manufacturing, marketing & distribution from they farm base at Tocumwal. They employ six people for six months of the year and have over 1,800 farmers using Hay Caps all over Australia as well as NZ, USA, Canada & Europe. The Hay Caps have proved themselves within the industry to be a very affordable option and have the ability to cover any volume of hay, safely from the ground and be reused year after year. 01.01.2022 "I love that the Future Agro Challenge is committed to ensuring that all of the ‘pieces of the puzzle’ involved in food production are part of the solution to ‘revolutionizing the world’s menu’. I was drawn to the concept of being able to host an agricultural innovation pitch competition out of a capital city, and right on a farm, in the heart of one of the biggest and best food-producing regions in the world, here on the Atherton Tablelands. So it was really an easy choice to be involved with an awesome team of people in co-founding the first Australian Future Agro Challenge competition and ensuring that the ‘ag’ in ‘agtech’ comes first when thinking about agricultural innovation!" https://facagro.com//jessica-fealy-fac-global-impact-make/
