17.01.2022 Sarah is one of the 1 in 6 children in Australia who are growing up in poverty, through no fault of their own. Children like Sarah face so much disruption and ...so many challenges in their learning, especially now during the COVID-19 crisis. Living in families where even the bare necessities are hard to come by, they are less likely to have the books, internet access and learning materials they need to keep up or have anyone at home with the skills and confidence to support them with remote learning. Your donation will help children like Sarah access our crucial out-of-school learning programs to help them catch up and keep up with their classmates. It’s crucial that they get the support they so urgently need now, before they fall too far behind and lose the chance to fulfil their potential. With your help, Sarah will be matched with a reading buddy close to her own age through our reading program student2student. Or she could have access to a Learning Club, where she’ll get help from one of our trained volunteer tutors to develop her numeracy, literacy and homework skills. We must ensure Sarah continues to have access to effective, evidence-based learning and mentoring programs throughout this time of crisis, and beyond. With you behind them, children like Sarah won’t have to fall even further behind in their learning. Please give them the practical support and the encouragement they need to rebuild their confidence and fulfil their potential. Donate to our Winter Appeal today at https://bit.ly/3ggsBNf

17.01.2022 Bathurst VIEW had a strong presence at the annual Mt Panorama Garage Sale today. A big crowd and a fun but windy day was filled with great interest in our Christmas raffle, second hand goods and lots of conversations about VIEW and Learning for Life. Thanks to all who kindly donated goods and/or time.
17.01.2022 Our September meeting was held in the Piper Room at Panthers and attended by 17 members where we welcomed our newest member Elaine Plica. We also made a membership badge presentation to the lovely Sandra Christensen. All members were excited to learn details of our very first sponsored Smith Family student, 5 year old Deminika. We look forward to supporting her right through to her Tertiary education. Guest speaker, Anne Clydesdale, gave a very informative talk about the pos...t breast cancer program, Encore. Raffle prizes were won by Margaret Morris & birthday girl, Jenny Gray. A reminder that our October meeting has been moved to Thursday 17th to avoid Race Week. Christmas related items & goods will also be collected next month for our Christmas raffle. Our next social outing is to the movies to see Downtown Abbey on Saturday 21st September and then afternoon tea at Sweet Caramel. We’ll meet just before 11.30am at the Metro movie theatre. Don’t forget to bring along a friend or two! See more
17.01.2022 Dear VIEW friends, We have received word from National Office of VIEW Australia, that due the composition of our membership, it is recommended that VIEW clubs cancel their March, April, May and June meetings and any other planned events, e.g. birthday events, which we would have celebrated in May. So, NO VIEW meetings or events until July at this stage. We will endeavour to contact all non-email members but in the meantime you could mention it to any you know of that are n...ot on email or social media. All being well we will all gather again in July and celebrate a Christmas in July and plan for our 1st Birthday celebration! In the meantime we know you will stay in touch and look out for each other if required. Stay healthy and look after yourselves. Kindest regards, Elizabeth for the Committee

12.01.2022 In Australia today, 1 in 6 children are living in poverty. I’m very worried about the effects that the COVID-19 outbreak will have on their learning. Dr Lis...a O’Brien, CEO The Smith Family. Australian children who are growing up in poverty already face huge challenges at school. Without the support they need to keep up with their classmates, they swiftly fall behind. Now as their learning moves to a combination of remote and face to face, many cannot afford textbooks, stationery, a computer and internet access, that are all so critical for ongoing learning. And many families are not equipped to provide the additional support and guidance that a child needs to learn at home. You can provide the resources and learning support to a child in need, ensuring they don’t fall even further behind during this crisis. Sponsor a disadvantaged Australian child today and give them the support they need to overcome the additional challenges they now face. Find out https://bit.ly/3bOs1nY
