23.01.2022 I miss my dad, he died too young Dad was always on the camera capturing myself and any animals I could find. My love for animals has never changed and never ...will Thank you dad and my mum for always encouraging me to be kind and respectful to our animals. We always had something with fur or feathers in our care. I will be forever grateful for the way I was raised. See more

21.01.2022 Helping our black cockatoos Making hollows to allow more breeding.

20.01.2022 Young Eddie has died. Born 11 weeks ago to the osprey pair that live atop the Sundale Bridge tower in Southport, Eddie had recently attempted his first flight. ...But, like so many little birds who feel the wind under their wings and are raring to go, Eddie wasn’t quite strong enough. Eventually, he ditched into the Broadwater before struggling to swim ashore. Weak and exhausted he had no hope of flying back up to the nest, 18m above. Had he delayed that first flight attempt by another week his chances would have improved immeasurably. In Currumbin Wildlife Hospital tests showed that Eddie had several problems. He had reduced kidney and muscle function and was developing lung issues, possibly from inhaling salt water. He wasn’t eating and had to be force fed. Staff worked tirelessly trying to improve Eddie’s health, which needed to improve greatly for him to have any hope of a successful return to the nest and a second chance at flight. But it wasn’t to be. Eddie passed away in his flight aviary at night. This was sad, and illustrates the precariousness of life for all fledging birds. Only the very strongest of young ospreys survive.

18.01.2022 A HUGE THANK YOU These guys are helping both our wildlife and domestic animals. Packing around the clock to get stuff where it needs to go. Thanks Mainfreight Australia and ARC

17.01.2022 This is not the time to water down koala habitat protections Koalas could be wiped out completely in NSW by 2050 and NSW Nationalist leader Barilaro appear...s hellbent on bringing forward this grim deadline by holding the government to ransom as it deals with the pandemic and economic crisis. Sign the petition today to keep up the pressure to protect one Australia’s most loved and vulnerable species

17.01.2022 Racing Victoria. This is your solution to animal welfare ?? So instead of just finishing racing altogether, now these evil, greedy low life’s are offering to pay, so these money making grubs don’t have to be responsible for the continued care of their horses. This is one of the most hypocritical ideas I have ever read. So let’s make sure they are killed humanly and their bodies removed instead of being traumatised at the abattoirs! And now that makes this filthy trade ok ????? Australia, you never cease to disgrace yourself. Domestic animals, wildlife, and the entirety of the racing industry-both horses and greyhounds. You fail each individual animal that walks Australian soil.

13.01.2022 BLUE MOUNTAINS KOALA PROJECT CALLING OUT FOR VOLUNTEERS

13.01.2022 I have recently joined this amazing organisation and become part of their ongoing Volunteer Care Team. In the next coming weeks I will be also be completing an in-depth Koala Rescue Program. Rescuers in my surrounding area are non existent and calls that come in for koalas in trouble are becoming more frequent due to habitat loss. I am glad I can use my past experience as a koala handler to become part of a very important area where a sick or injured koala can be helped quick...ly and get the best possible long term outcome. Sadly, in the past month of working at FOK, so many rescues end in euthanasia. Dog attacks, hit and runs, and health issues.... some due to stress from loss of habitat are contributing factors to koala’s increased death rates. The great news is, their amazing experienced team of vets, nurses and volunteers work together to achieve the best outcome for every koala that they receive. For the koalas that are treatable, they get the absolute best of care, and everything needed to work towards being released. I feel very blessed to be part of such a great organisation.

12.01.2022 THE REALITY OF KOALA HABITAT AND OUR GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION. AUSTRALIA YOU ARE A DISGRACE I AM SHARING THIS CRITICAL MESSAGE TO MY PAGE BECAUSE THE WORLD NEEDS TO SEE HOW OUR GOVERNMENT TREAT OUR WILDLIFE. AUSTRALIA IS THE TOP OF THE WORLDWIDE LIST FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES ... This an international embarrassment and an absolute crime our Australian government refused to sign the international biodiversity treaty last week - UK, France, Germany, Canada and 64 countries on board to take action to stop the extinction crisis and save our wildlife and Australia and our PM refused to sign. THEY SAID IT’S NOT IN LINE WITH GOVERNMENT POLICY. BE CAREFUL WHO YOU TRUST TO CARE FOR OUR WILDLIFE AUSTRALIA! PEOPLE NEED TO STOP BEING SILENT. THE TIME IS NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

09.01.2022 CARING FOR CARERS OUR work with wildlife carers since the bush fires of last Summer & throughout 2020 has highlighted just how important it is to support the amazing humans who rescue & care for our injured & orphaned wildlife, across the country, 365 days a year. Without our selfless carers our wildlife would suffer immeasurably and we acknowledge how vital their commitment is. The pressure these beautiful humans are under is enormous & they need our help. We hea...r so many stories of carers who don’t eat properly as time doesn’t allow for meal prep; many simply forget to eat; something the rest of us often take for granted. With this front of mind #futureforwildlifeaustralia and #thegiftproject are calling on anyone who’d like to jump on board CARING FOR CARERS Our humans are also precious! We’re collaborating to set up an ongoing meal/care package program where anyone can prepare & deliver meals/snacks & care packages to our wildlife carers, to alleviate some of the pressure. We know where our carers are & we’re happy to connect you with them if you’d like to become involved. Just one full, home-cooked vegie meal a week can make a difference so no offer is too small. Or you might prefer to send some fruit or a loaf of bread with fillings or a home-baked treat. While you’re cooking for your family plan to put aside an extra serve or two in takeaway containers & if you can’t deliver, we’ll find a way to work it. We’re so appreciative of your support and look forward to growing this initiative to make life easier for those who rescue, rehabilitate & release our precious wildlife. For more info or to join our mission please dm me. Thankyou in advance. xo #caringforcarers #wildlifecarersupport #wildliferescue #fooddonation #mealprep #thegiftproject

07.01.2022 TODAY IS NATIONAL KANGAROO AWARENESS DAY. Kangaroos are not farmed. They are slaughtered while they graze. Their babies are bludgeoned while their mothers watc...h and struggle, but can’t get up to protect their joeys because they have been shot.... but not dead. Their limbs are cut off while still alive. Their bodies are hung from the back of a truck often for days before being refrigerated. It’s often weeks before it actually gets to the supermarket. PLEASE HELP STOP THEIR INHUMANE SLAUGHTER BY NOT FEEDING THEM TO YOUR PETS. THEY ARE STRUGGLING FROM BUSHFIRES, DROUGHT AND MISLEADING GOVERNMENT STATISTICS. PLEASE HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE! 05.01.2022 UPDATE on Miss Possum Thanks so much for the messages I have been sent in regards to my call out for help. Petrina Paidel has had a lengthy conversation with ...the possum’s family and they now have a plan with a positive outlook to keep her safe. It’s lovely to be able to reach out and have a happy outcome instead of picking up the pieces once it’s too late. Thanks everyone, this made my day Is there a possum carer that can help with some advice please. There is a lovely family that live in Brisbane that would love some advice on a ringtail possum living in their rafters. They would like to help relocate him / her into a possum box outside if possible. Hoping for some words of wisdom, and a phone call to help this family as they don’t want to harm the possum

05.01.2022 A huge thank you to Michelle Bryant from Future For Wildlife Australia who has been helping ARC now for a while helping with getting food, support, trailers and... supplies out in the field. Michelle has significant experience for many many years of rescue . .loooong before the fires and the noise. She's been heavily involved in work in the pacific islands and across the world in rescue. Long before her helping ARC she was across so many of the sites we were also across ..or not across . . but it was never a competition it was just about helping rescuers and saving animals. The work that Michelle and her team do in the field is amazing. It's relentless and important. She's been all over Australia helping people in places we havent been to and many times now sanctuaries have talked of her work. There is so much to do and having good people to partner with matters. Some of the things we have pulled off together in the past few months have been game changing for rescuers that just needed help. Thank you Michelle for everything these past few months and for many long shared experiences! There will be many more (and probably many more lost nights nd phone batteries running out trying to work out the impossible and make it possible!)
