25.01.2022 Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on Future Life Conference Under the shadow of COVID-19 we feel that it is important to communicate to you our intentions for the Future Life conference 2020, to be held next month on 24th of April. As the conference date is still over a month away currently WE PLAN TO GO AHEAD WITH THE CONFERENCE WITH SOME STRICT GUIDELINES... Our current stance is based on: * Conference staff/volunteers have not traveled out of the country this year nor been exposed to COVID-19 or to people contracting COVID-19. * All of our presenters are from Australia * We keep the number of attendees (including speakers and staff) under 100 and we will organise the chairs/tables with plenty of space between attendees (the room is able to host 200 people). * The venue will supply hand sanitisers and plenty of soap as well as toilet paper. The Arts Centre will continue to maintain their high level of food hygiene when preparing the food to be served at the event. If you have registered and have either been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or are traveling from a country that is placed on Australia's travel ban list, please contact us and a full refund will be arranged. We keep monitoring the situation and will follow instructions by the Australian Government and the Arts Centre. Please come and support our Presenters and tireless team by enjoying Future Life Conference 2020!

23.01.2022 "The critical role of ‘everyday nature’ for the future of cities" is the title of the speech of Professor Sarah Bekessy at the Future Life Conference. A perfect storm of ideas is generating unprecedented enthusiasm for embracing #nature in cities. Re-enchanting #urban residents with nature can deliver a remarkable range of health benefits, while creating cities that are more resilient to climate change. Creating ‘every day nature’ in cities presents opportunities to reverse ...the fate of many threatened species and connect people with #Indigenous history and culture. But it’s more than just urban #greening; it’s generating daily doses of #biodiversity. The future of #livable cities may well depend on this new conceptualization, but a major shift in the way nature is conceived of and planned for is required. #futurelifeconference #city #greencity #climatechange What do you think, how will #Melbourne look like 30 years from now? 19.01.2022 When planning an event, location is key. That’s why it was very important for us to pick the right location and we chose the world famous Arts Centre in Melbourne. The most popular of all of Arts Centre Melbourne’s event spaces, The Pavilion features a spectacular domed ceiling, floor to ceiling windows, gold leaf interiors and wraparound balcony. Hope to see you there at https://buff.ly/2HsPUUx #ArtsCentre #Melbourne #Conference #FutureLife

17.01.2022 "The future of health is in your hand (or possibly inside you)" will be the title of Pete Saunder's presentation at the Future Life Conference. Consumers are inundated with ways to measure, monitor and track their health. Jewelry is used to help you sleep, work and train. Chatbots are providing 24/7 personalised health advice. Futuristic headsets are designed to help you meditate. People are trying to print organs, edit genes and monetize your DNA. But despite this, chronic d...isease rates are on the rise, childhood obesity is now an epidemic and on any given day nearly half a million Australians visit the GP. What is causing this discrepancy? As technology continues to improve and evolve, will the gap widen or narrow? Should we be excited or worried? Are we focused on the right things? This talk will explore the impact of technology, patient experience, value based care and education on our health and what we can do to create a healthy future. #FutureOfHealth #HealthData #FutureLifeConference #PatientExperience #HealthyFuture What do you think? Should we be excited or worried? See more

16.01.2022 - Hey Viki and Gabor, I've read your post about your conference last week. Can you remind me again, what this event is about? - Well, we organise an event about emerging technologies and how they impact our lives in the future. We focus specifically on Australia and aim to follow the lifecycle of a future child. Our speakers will talk about a range of topics, including the future of education, our work and even our cities. The talks will be short and sharp; coming from acknowledged and well known people. If you haven't done so yet, check our website at https://buff.ly/2HsPUUx and have a look at the line-up. And of course, contact us with any questions :-). #FutureLifeConference #Melbourne #Conference

07.01.2022 Nigel Dalton is a luminary at Thoughtworks and a well-known and respected speaker. His presentation, titled "Future Business Strategy: hire a teenager" will be a thought-provoking one, and will make you think hard, how to build the organisations of the future. The arrival of trillion-dollar megabusinesses like Amazon, Facebook and Google on the global business stage represents an immense threat to small and medium-sized organisations around the world. According to the Austra...lian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, 99% of Australian organisations are classified as SME, and they employ 2/3 of all working Australians - there is a lot at stake. Amazon seem intent on steamrollering bookstores, grocery businesses, bricks and mortar retail, tech hosting, healthcare, transport and real estate. Can the minnows co-opt some of their strategies to remain competitive? Nigel Dalton examines the options for Australian organisations in the face of this competition, and reveals a surprising, uplifting twist in the tale. What kind of organisation would you like to work for in the future? #FutureOrganization #FutureLifeConference #BusinessStrategy #Amazon #Facebook #Google See more

05.01.2022 Many predicts that machine (AI) will soon take over our jobs and make us redundant. In his talk "The Future of Workforce = Human + Machine", Agustinus Nalwan will discuss that despite the hype, the current AI technology is very limited to a very narrow task like classifying fruits, recommending a movie, playing Go, etc. However, it fails to perform task as simple as walking from home to school which any 6 year old can do. Given the above, Gus will share with you a totally dif...ferent version of the future where human and machine actually work hand in hand, complementing each other’s strength to increase efficiency and quality. E.g. processes such as farming, shipping, manufacturing and transportation will be far more efficient and cheaper, thus improving our quality of life. What do you think, will AI take over our jobs or is Gus's version more realistic ;-)? See more

02.01.2022 In our last post we announced and introduced our keynote speaker, Dr Amanda Cahill. Today we introduce her topic, which will be the keynote at Future Life Conference. The title of Amanda's talk is Embracing Change: Emerging Opportunities for a Brighter Future. Everywhere we look, there are doom and gloom forecasts of the future that awaits. But what if the disruptions we are currently facing: climate change, global economic uncertainty; environmental degradation and growing ...inequality offered us the opportunity to build a better, fairer and more ecologically sustainable future for everyone? What can we do? And how do we bring others along with us? What do you think? Share your comments here. And to find what Amanda thinks, come along to the conference on the 24th of April at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Tickets are still available at https://buff.ly/2HsPUUx #future #conference #socialchange #climatechange
