25.01.2022 Nature leaves clues. My Nana told me when I first got married that to be healthy we must eat the rainbow each day. Red, yellow, green, purple and white. Today, a smoothie of spinach, green apple, kiwi and ginger. Dinner was purple cabbage in broth, orange sweet potato mash and liver with bacon, onion and gravy. Oh and a piece of 80% dark chocolate for desert. Yum!

24.01.2022 Dental health is important, zero argument there but mass fluoridation doesn’t come without risks. There are a lot of studies linking fluoride with neurodegenerative disorders and attention disorders, especially when the developing foetus is exposed to fluoride in the mothers drinking water. The exposure is 200 times higher in infants fed formula made on tap water resulting in lower IQ and higher incidence of ADHD. Many countries have now banned fluoridation of drinking water, sadly Australia is not one of them. A better way to improve dental health outcomes is through education and diet.

23.01.2022 Don’t be fooled by the washed and ready to eat bagged produce, it’s much higher in bacteria than the unwashed. BUT! I’m more concerned at his comment that you don’t need to wash store bought produce like grapes, tomatoes and apples. It’s not just about bacteria, we cope with them a lot better than we do the chemical sprays on their skins. If you can’t buy organic definitely wash you’re fruit and veg in a mild vinegar solution on warm water to remove as much as possible of both bacteria and chemical sprays. YUK!

22.01.2022 What's the only thing better than a keto friendly lasagne for dinner? Same again the next day. Its even more delicious the second time round, and the bonus is I didn't have to cook tonight. For most people, staying under 50g of carbs for the day is going to keep you in a ketogienic range, so at 10g per serving this recipe is a winner.

22.01.2022 We choose not to use a microwave and we also don’t store or cook in plastic. In fact we are working towards being a plastic free home. These silicone food pouches are great space savers as they store flat when empty and take up less room in the freezer than plastic tubs. Thawing is done easily in a warm water bath and you can even reheat a meal by putting the pouch into a saucepan of boiling water to save washing up. There is no leeching of chemicals into food and they last l...onger than plastic containers which can become brittle and have completely replaced the need for clipseal baggies in our home. Better for us and better for the environment. You can get an 8 pack for just $29 online from Kogan.

18.01.2022 Hec yeah! I caught up with clients today who I have been speaking with around regaining health and losing weight through a ketogenic diet and eliminating grains and processed foods. 8 months after our first conversation he has lost 48kg and she has lost 14kg- yep that’s an entire person! They have corrected high cholesterol, halved their statin doses and diabetes meds and are on a roll to lose another 50kg between them. I love how corrected eating fixes so many health issues.... To say I’m thrilled for them is an understatement. Photo by Extraction on Unsplash

16.01.2022 Can smoothes still play a role in a Ketogenic diet? You bet they can, we still need the polyphenols in colourful fruits and veggies for their anti oxidant properties and also the fibres for our gut health. Plus they can be a great way to make sure we meet our protein targets. We just need to find low carb options, this one uses both plant and animal protein sources and a great prebiotic fibre. Gluten and dairy free.

15.01.2022 What could go wrong?

14.01.2022 Yep it was definitely the butter that caused the diabetes???????????? For crying out loud, failed sugar metabolism causes diabetes not fats. ALL carbohydrates digest as sugar. This is a perfect example of stupid science reported by stupid publications and believed by ........................... Hint it was the #bread... #blamingfatsforwhatsugarsdid #ditchtheprocessedcrap See more

14.01.2022 This has been my practise for decades, as it was for my grandmother. My grandparents built a house with my parents with a downstairs granny flat, way before it was trendy. We loved climbing in bed for a cuddle and a sip of Nana’s lemon and honey. #Wisdom4Wellness

13.01.2022 Food is so much more than nutritious it also nourishes us emotionally. Tonight’s meal was comfort food. Feeling indulged!

12.01.2022 Annual skin check done and dusted. Nothing to see here. So genetically I would expect to be lining up for zapping, freezing, excising etc based on the history of my parents, siblings and adult kids. But nothing! Refreshing that my doctor who is a skin cancer specialist agrees with my strategy. In fact she said that at approaching 60 my skin is in better order than hers at approaching 50. ... Here are my tips: I never ever use chemical sunscreen. Shirts, hats and shade for me if I feel my skin burning. 20 minutes sun exposure 3 times per week is protective. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants, colourful vegetables and fruit, purple veg, red capsicum, broccoli, kale etc 30mg melatonin supplement at night 2000mg Vit C daily Rosehip oil to moisturise .05% retinol cream to moisturise - I add powdered melatonin to this, it’s a master antioxidant Hemp Collagen powder in smoothies Gelatine and bone broth for natural collagen Astaxanthin, resveritrol and sulphurofane Intermittent fasting There are heaps of other anti-ageing supplements you could add, hit me up for some more suggestions. #InsideOut #SunHealth #ImmuneStrength #SelfRepair

11.01.2022 Finally the truth is starting to be reported around the world. If you or a family member are diabetic and still being told you need carbs to balance your sugar levels, then piling insulin on to regulate the sugar you are being fed junk science.

10.01.2022 We need a healthy fat intake for our brain and hormone health among other things. Eating fat doesn’t affect the amount of cholesterol your body makes as much as once thought. Blaming fat for what carbs did!

09.01.2022 Aseem Malhotra, a cardiologist, said: The scientific evidence clearly reveals that we must stop fearmongering when it comes to cholesterol and heart disease and focus instead on insulin resistance, the most important risk factor as a precursor to many chronic diseases

08.01.2022 Life goals!!!!!

05.01.2022 The results are in, we have been blaming salt for what sugar has done.

04.01.2022 I’m sorry but What The F? Grain foods such as breads, cereals, rice and pasta Grain foods should make up the majority of our diet, so try to eat these foods at every meal. Go for wholegrain varieties, like multigrain bread, wherever possible to make sure you get long lasting energy and plenty of fibre. ... For anyone dealing with diabetes it seems you should turn around and R-U-N from Diabetes Queensland advice.

03.01.2022 So Big Pharma make fish oil into a drug for heart health and want you to pay $300+ per month for it? Righteo!!!!!!! I’ll just sick to eating fish and taking my fish oil supplement, oh but they don’t work because they weren’t prescribed by a doctor and supplied by a pharmaceutical company. Kind of wonder what you do to fish oil to be able to take out a patent on it, no thanks.

03.01.2022 Results that are not overly surprising! And we claim to be the intelligent species

02.01.2022 It’s hard to imagine lasagne without that delicious béchamel finishing sauce. And while I’ve not used it in every layer, my low carb dairy free cauliflower cream is a great substitute. Ingredients 1/4 cauliflower steamed. 2tbs ghee or butter if you can tolerate a tiny bit of dairy. 2 heaping tbs of nutritional yeast... 1/4 tsp Himalayan salt. Melt the ghee, pop in the rest of the ingredients and blend. Done. Makes enough to top 2 serves of low carb gluten free lasagne. 3g carbohydrate 7g protein 14g fat Perfect ratios for a ketogenic diet. The dairy alternative thickened with flour would be around 15g of carbs per serving. Posting on the website soon.
