Perhaps alarmingly, these figures paint a portrait of two clubs ignoring the talent knocking down on their door, although such a phenomenon is not something new. Mathew Leckie was offered to the Victory before his move to Adelaide United. Jackson Irvine elected to move to Scotland to join the Celtic Academy having been on the books of Victory Youth, as was Geelong ...junior Matthew Spiranovic, who elected to move to Europe at a time when not many teens were coming through in the A-League. Green Gully junior Jamie Maclarens return to Australia from the Blackburn Rovers Academy saw him play at the Glory and Brisbane, becoming a star marksman for the latter after being afforded an opportunity which was restricted to him in the West by the presence of Irishman Andy Keogh. Like Maclaren, Ivan Franjic and Sasa Ognenovski had to move to the sunshine state in order to become household A-League names and eventual Socceroos. See more

Kosta was a team mate of Pers when he played at Hanover 96.The Per Mertesacker Foundation thus makes an effective contribution to the integration, education and sporting activities of children and adolescents. 01.01.2022 Coached by Milan legend and Italian World Cup winner Filippo Inzaghi, on the rise Italian football club Venezia F.C. will deliver a series of youth football and coaching development camps at Brisbane City F.C. with a contingent of coaches set to arrive in Australia this weekend. In an announcement made earlier today, club president David Asnicar and A-League bid chairman Robert Cavallucci revealed that an agreement was signed between Venezias head of International projects Paolo Poggi and Brisbane City earlier in August, paving the way for what both clubs hope to be a long-term technical collaboration and international development pathway of opportunity for youth football in both Australia and Italy.
