01.01.2022 Port Stephens Estuary Charters. I had the pleasure of fishing with Paul Lennon the other day. As Paul is in serious demand I had to book some 3 months in advance. The day before I received a call from Paul to confirm details. On the morning of the charter Paul arrived exactly on time. After introductions Paul outlined some options and left the fishing plan up to me.... Heading off to the squid fields it was no time before we has enough to try and intice a kingy. We tried without success, so Paul again provided some options for me to choose. We changed to soft plastics chasing bream. I havent chased bream for 30 years and using light gear is somewhat foreign to me. Straight away Paul picked a couple of issues with my casting ( not as important on heavier gear) once I adjusted my casting was it dramitically improved. Landing some nice bream, I found the bream suprisingly enjoyable on the light gear. It was then time to target some flatties, again fine tuning technique. Once again we landed some nice fish. As the day concluded I was given the option of keeping the fish or returning them to the local waterway, as they had been put into the large live tank. As we are a family of 5, there was enough for a feed so I kept them. My family enjoyed a lovely meal of fresh fish and calamari that night. What did I get from the charter? I enjoyed the day and the tuition on the local waters and fishing techniques. I was challenged, fishing outside my normal comfort zone. The boat was large and stable, The fishing gear was suitable for each purpose. Paul was very informative and patient, explaining the waters and what he was looking for. I would recommend Port Stephens Estuary Charters to anyone from never fished to highly experienced anglers. It has certainly changed what I target and how I fish Port Stephens.
