03.01.2022 Do you have apprentices? The Government is supporting small businesses to retain their apprentices and trainees. Eligible employers can apply for a wage subsidy of 50% of the apprentices or trainees wage for 9 months from 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020. Where a small business is not able to retain an apprentice, the subsidy will be available to a new employer. The wage subsidy will be claimable for wages paid since 1 January 2020. Employers can register for the subsidy... from 2 April 2020. Final claims for payment must be lodged by 31 December 2020. The subsidy will be available to small businesses employing fewer than 20 employees who retain an apprentice or trainee. Employers of any size and Group Training Organisations that re-engage an out-of-trade apprentice or trainee may be eligible for the subsidy. The apprentice or trainee must have been in-training with a small business as at 1 March 2020. Employers will be able to access the subsidy after an eligibility assessment is undertaken by an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider. 02.01.2022 Working two jobs and puzzled about why the second is withholding more tax? Income tax is calculated on your total income at the end of each financial year, s...o youll end up paying the same amount of tax if you earn it through one employer or many. However, you should generally only claim the tax-free threshold (i.e. $18,200 in tax-free earnings each year) from one employer at a time this is why each employer might withhold different amounts during the year. Find out more in our article on ATO Community at https://community.ato.gov.au//How-much-tax-shoul/ta-p/8111

01.01.2022 Has your business registered for JobKeeper payments? The next step needs to be completed now to allow this to be processed. 1. You will need to confirm the details of the eligible business participant and/or employees. ... 2. Confirm bank account details for the business. 3. Sales for April and projected sales for May. This will need to be completed every month going forward. Please note.....this is not a retest of eligibility! There seems to be some confusion around this. At this stage it is understood that the ATO are using this for benchmark purposes to see how businesses are tracking on the way back to normal life from COVID19. Once you qualify for this payment, you qualify until 27th September 2020 (unless there are any changes to the legislation going forward). If you have any queries, or need assistance with the application please do not hesitate to contact our office.
