24.01.2022 GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS Geelong Arts Centre's Creative Engine is offering grants for artists and creatives working in the G21 region. Totalling $16,000 in financial grants and in-kind occupancies at the arts centre’s landmark Ryrie Street, #Geelong building, the eight available grant packages will directly benefit individuals and organisation who demonstrate the desire and ability to drive bold and exciting contemporary arts practice and performance.... Grant applications open Monday 17 August and will close Sunday 30 August at 5pm. 13.01.2022 A new $20 million innovation hub for Geelong at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus will establish the G21 region as the nation’s leading advanced manufacturing precinct and create more than 170 jobs. The facility, called ManuFutures 2, will be the second hub of its kind built at the University’s Waurn Ponds campus to help accelerate manufacturing innovations. Products manufactured at the site include the world’s lightest and strongest carbon fibre road bike wheels, enhanced fabrics used for athletic clothing and equipment, and smart sensors to improve water management on farms. 11.01.2022 Upgrade Road Blitz For Princes Freeway near Geelong A program of rolling works to asphalt 14 kilometres of key sections between Waurn Ponds and Little River will start on Monday, 9 November. The program will upgrade eleven sections of Colac-bound lanes between Little River and Draytons Road, and five Melbourne-bound lanes between the Hamilton Highway overpass and Beach Road off-ramp.... The Princes Freeway has an average of 47,000 commuter, commercial and tourist vehicles using it each day at Corio, making it a vital link between Geelong, Melbourne, the Surf Coast and south west Victoria. Lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place, however every effort will be made to limit the disruption for drivers. These measures include rolling out the works at night from 8.30pm to 5am from Sundays to Thursdays, reopening lanes during the day and pausing works during the peak tourist season from Friday, 18 December to Sunday, 31 January. The latest traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app.
