15.01.2022 Hi everyone! Here is a handy notation chart to help with reading music and finding each note on the fretboard. This is available as a PDF download in the student portal. Happy reading!

15.01.2022 How are your strings looking? One question I get asked all the time is how often should I change my strings? ....and people are often surprised by the answer. If you’re a beginner who practices every day or most days, you will need to change strings every month. ... If you’re a gigging musician or a serious player then you will need new strings every week. Why? Once your strings lose their elasticity they will become brittle, discoloured, hurt your fingers and won’t stay in tune. That’s a lot of string changing! And there are so many options and varieties to choose from. Also it’s possible to accidentally damage a guitar by using the wrong string guage. So if your strings are older than a month then visit Marban Music and see Morris who can recommend the best set of strings for your playing style, and he can even do the string change for you.

14.01.2022 How good is this! Actually I have just finished reading Lemmy’s biography. What a character. Recommended reading!

14.01.2022 The DHHS COVID-19 Hotline has just confirmed that face-to-face music lessons are still not allowed in regional Victoria at this time. Hopefully, the next round of announcements on November 1st will bring some good news. Regular lessons are still available via ZOOM.... If you have any concerns or questions, or would like some extra songs or exercises to work on at home feel free to give me a call on 0487 748 434. Keep playing! Cheers Reuben

12.01.2022 The COVID hotline has just confirmed that even though regional Victorian gyms can do group lessons indoors from Wednesday, music lessons are STILL not allowed. It will be soon. Stay tuned for updates.... If you would like action sooner please consider tweeting @DanAndrewsMP and ask for music lessons, and/or call local state member Harriet Shing on 5134 8000. In the meantime, keep playing!

07.01.2022 "Music is the subject that really does activate more neural pathways than any other human undertaking," says Mr Williams "It's been established with adults, it's been established with teenagers, it's been established with children, that music has this amazing capacity to actually activate most of the brain. "Very few other things activate more than a portion of the brain, so it has a wonderful lateral impact on all other subjects and on your capacity to learn.... "Music manifests itself in students being able to perform much better in mathematics, much better in science, much better in languages and a variety of other things, because they have the benefit of what music does to make their brains very much more elastic and flexible and giving them a much greater capacity to listen and learn."

06.01.2022 Hey everyone, this just came up on Gippsland Musicians and would be a great buy. Check it out!
