24.01.2022 Some wisdom from one of my favorite teachers. Thich Nhat Hanh. It is not always easy to pause and look after yourself when overwhelmed or stressed and suffering but worth it.

24.01.2022 Tuesday Tips! "She snapped... just like that... out of nowhere!" This is so common.... There are lots of little and big reasons why kiddies seem to "snap" or misbehave so suddenly. What we don't realise, is that they, like adults, have a certain threshold as to how much "stuff" they can take in a day. Think to a time where you might have had a long day, and all you wanted was a hot coffee to pick you up. Then all of a sudden, you spill your coffee... waterworks! It's just coffee, right? But it wasn't so much about the coffee! It was everything else that came before - it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Same goes for our kids! So next time your child seems to "snap", have a little think about why that may be Understanding where they are coming from allows us to respond in a more positive way that can help them to resettle Credit: Movement Matters

24.01.2022 Addiction is not the primary problem it is an attempt to solve one. It helps at first then causes harm. The solution is reconnection.

24.01.2022 When the mind is festering with trouble or the heart torn, we can find healing among the silence of mountains or fields, or listen to the simple, steadying rhyt...hm of waves. The slowness and stillness gradually takes us over. Our breathing deepens and our hearts calm and our hungers relent. When serenity is restored, new perspectives open to us and difficulty can begin to seem like an invitation to new growth. This invitation to friendship with nature does of course entail a willingness to be alone out there. Yet this aloneness is anything but lonely. Solitude gradually clarifies the heart until a true tranquility is reached. The irony is that at the heart of that aloneness you feel intimately connected with the world. Indeed, the beauty of nature is often the wisest balm for it gently relieves and releases the caged mind. 22.01.2022 When you can turn and ‘have’ your problems rather than be all caught up in them - it helps.

19.01.2022 If you have nightmares - or know someone who does - this short video from one of my teachers may be helpful. "There are no bad dreams" Dr Leslie Ellis Nightmares are treatable and are usually pointing to the way forward from where you are stuck. So do tell someone or work with someone who knows how to work with dreams.... "What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with." Eugene Gendlin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WbUMt7_Vf8&feature=youtu.be

17.01.2022 When you create a refuge inside yourself in difficult times it brings peace and calm. This is important especially in these unknown times.

16.01.2022 In a world of chaos and uncertainty there is good reason to develop a spiritual refuge inside ourselves. Etty Hilliesom lived and dies in the time of the holocaust. Her book is a brilliant and inspiring read.

16.01.2022 A beautiful Qi gong practice Master Chunyi Lin is offering free every day for these times. Taking action is an antidote to being traumatized.

15.01.2022 We are all in this together

12.01.2022 Learning to reflect on our needs, our feelings, our behaviours and how they are connected to each other is critical for wellbeing. This ability to think about ...our own and others internal workings is called "mentalising" or "psychological thinking" and is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing and mental health both for ourselves and for the children and young people in our lives. How do you feel today? What does that feeling tell you about your needs? How can you meet your needs in a gentle and healthful way?

11.01.2022 Helpful tips for looking differently at difficult behaviors.

11.01.2022 Keeping calm is important and healing for others.

10.01.2022 2020 was indeed a challenging year for everyone. Some lament the loss of their job and livelihood. Others feel sad for not spending precious time with their f...amily and friends. There were also those distressed about the leader’s response to the nation's needs. Still, some suffered from illness. At the same time, some of us had to mourn the loss of someone close because of death. In one way or another, we were all part of what they call collective grief. The pain that comes with this grief is so palpable that it cannot be ignored. What do we do with it? Do we drown it with busyness? Do we bury it in oblivion? Do we treat it with apathy? I learned to parent the grief like a vulnerable little child. The pain we feel was grief’s cry for helpthe reason why it stresses itself to be felt. Once we carry it with tenderness in our hearts, the grief will slowly turn to healing. Healing will slowly turn to gratitude. Gratitude will slowly turn to giving. And giving will slowly turn to love. This 2021, may we all heal from our grief so we can turn the collective grief into collective love. We wish you a blessed and a happy 2021, everyone! #ArtsForWellness #CreativePassionPath #ExpressiveArtsForHealing #NewYear2021

09.01.2022 The Monsters we fear are just things that need our love and curiosity. With that they will transform into life forward steps. I used to have bad nightmares as a child and I wish I had known to talk about them with someone who knows about experiencing and dream work.

08.01.2022 If I am feeling bad inside - the world is a scary dark place with no hope. This is a sign I need to slow down, come back home to my body, my mind and my spirit and take care of myself. I can sense inside and notice the bad feeling there and ask - "what is needed inside for me to recover my strength, find my resources, my safe place, my peace" - and see what is needed. ... When I can do this I can enter the world afresh with hope and kindness for others. How I am inside affects the world I see, it affects my interactions with others and dampens possibility for connection. We heal ourselves and in doing that we heal the world. When your inner world is fragmented, the outer world is broken. When inner world is flowery and unbroken, the outer world is healed by your presence. Amit Ray, Walking the Path of Compassion

08.01.2022 Life will always be complicated, painful and full of suffering. After we have felt it enough - let it flow through our body as opposed to pushing it down - we can be open again to choose joy and gratitude. To smile and laugh is healing to ourselves and others.

07.01.2022 Marta Stapperts work is very influential to me in my work with children. It is respectful and honoring of a child’s unique way and inner knowing.

01.01.2022 "But the world is not safe! Anything can happen at any time" (This is the question Gene is answering at the beginning of this short clip) Eugene Gendlins life work on focusing and his discovery and naming of the felt sense is a base line I always hold close to me in my practice of sensorimotor therapy. ... It is respectful, empowering and is something we all have access to. Over time many of us lose touch with this innate wisdom, for many different reasons, including abuse, neglect, trauma, authoritarian people around us who know better etc. It is possible and worth reconnecting to it, especially if you are stuck somehow or have experienced trauma that is unable to be expressed. I use and teach this practice in my work.

01.01.2022 A simple fear free way of talking to kids about the covid 19. It helped me too! It’s helpful to calm fearful nervous systems and avoid worry and stress.
