23.01.2022 A small Remembrance Day service today at Waverley Cenotaph commemorating the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us. Although we couldn't have all community members with us as usual - I joined Rob DeGraff President of North Bondi RSL Sub-Branch, Peter Aston of Eastern Suburbs Legion Club, Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command Acting Superintendent Steve Patton and Waverley Councillors in laying a wreath in honour of those who so bravely fought. 17.01.2022 The NSW 2020- 21 Budget has been delivered and I'm pleased to announce an investment of over $19 million in our local community. Some highlights include: $11.5 M to continue the work to close the last ocean outfalls at Vaucluse and Diamond Bay $1.8 M to upgrade Double Bay and Darling Point wharves $5 M to plan for more local cycling infrastructure... Tutoring for school students and free preschool to the end of 2021 $2.4 B in payroll tax cuts $100 vouchers for all residents to spend on tourism, dining and entertainment. 15.01.2022 I shared an early #ANZAC wreath-laying ceremony with the Rose Bay RSL Sub-branch this morning at #RoseBayCenotaph. Although there was no regular march with The Scots College pipes and drums, it was a solemn and beautiful service. As usual, 96 year old WW2 veteran and Vaucluse resident John Ryrie and wife Jan joined us at the ceremony. Let's all take the time this week to remember the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. #LestWeForget... 04.01.2022 Today, we celebrated the life and legacy of one of Australia's youngest official WWII artists, Lieutenant E.A Douglas Watson, laying a commemorative plaque at his former home on Etham Ave, Darling Point. Watson depicted war activities in Australia, New Guinea and Borneo and exhibited around the world after the War. It was great to hear from Wendy Sharpe, also an official war artist, about her work during the peace keeping mission in East Timor.
