24.01.2022 Help us collect data for the National Lambing Density Project. Australian Wool Innovation, Meat & Livestock Australia, Agriculture Victoria and partnering organ...isations, are running a National Lambing Density Project to assess the effects of mob size and stocking rate on lamb survival. We are collecting data from producers who pregnancy scan for multiples, and run singles and twins in separate mobs through until marking. If you are interested in providing lambing data, please contact Grace Calder, Agriculture Victoria on (03) 5336 6628 or [email protected]. Producers who provide data from 2017 or autumn 2018 lambing, that has not already been received by the project, are eligible to receive (on submission of complete data) a complementary ticket to the 2018 BEST WOOL BEST LAMB Conference at Bendigo Showgrounds on 27 June (excludes conference dinner). All participants in the project will receive a copy of the complete project results.

24.01.2022 Our Land Services Officer, Tanisha Shields has produced a two-page fact sheet that looks into the benefits of scanning ewes and managing them accordingly. This... great resource is now available on our website and we encourage all sheep producers to have a read - https://bit.ly/2I6nylo For further information, contact Tanisha on 0447 642 131 or via [email protected].

22.01.2022 Any producers looking for some feedback and want to participate in a study?

20.01.2022 Covid update: NSW have again changed their border crossing rules to only people living in the border zone are eligible for a critical service permit to enter. Thankfully living in the border region I qualify and it is business as usual to service western nsw clients, adhering to all COVIDSafe procedures. Stay safe

19.01.2022 Just another typical day, Dust and Dorpers

19.01.2022 Fingers crossed for some much needed rain this week for persevering clients in the far west of NSW, there has been some great scanning results for spring lambing, we just need some greenery to make a successful lambing a reality!

16.01.2022 The natural wonders I see in the sky

16.01.2022 A good read about how Mla are improving our industry

13.01.2022 Covid-19 update I wish to let clients know I am continuing on with scanning and hope to as long as I can following social isolation which for me means ; filling up with fuel at contactless sites ( credit card bowsers) avoiding town and supermarkets, will not be staying at motels and if I need to stay onsite for remote jobs I plan to bring my own accommodation and food, no shaking hands and observing 1.5 m rule to humans and moving to digital bills to avoid paper bills changing hands. Agriculture is essential for our country and world let’s set a great example and keep safe and well to keep up production efficiency and food on the table

12.01.2022 Great article with some interesting facts concerning the future sheep numbers

11.01.2022 New wheel cover for the trailer and I found a freshly graded road today! Had to take a photo as unfortunately it won't stay smooth for long with no rain to set it But it made my Friday happy (and the ute suspension happy too)

10.01.2022 WARNING: these images contain content that may make people envious of heavy rain and green feed for sheep

09.01.2022 Border Closure update: I am able to travel to NSW to continue scanning even with the tightening rules as of tomorrow, i have just had my new permit approved! Agriculture is a critical service and I have a covid-safe plan approved and registered in NSW. I will have to self-isolate as a condition when not providing my services in NSW, and minimise my contact with anyone outside my household at home in VIC, keeping a log of my movements daily. The great news is that i am able to still work and provide my services to clients and look forward to seeing you abiding by social distancing covid-safe protocols.

06.01.2022 It has happened, I my job I see both sides of this debate, will be an interesting year or two ahead

05.01.2022 Mixed results around this area good condition merino ewes scanning well lighter ewes and Dorpers not so well

03.01.2022 EID tags and pregnancy data collection at scanning is a great tool for your flock management, whether wanting to record lifetime ewe data, record for drafting multiples and age of foetus to minimise branding on wool it is being used more and more. Frequently asked questions? Does it slow you down? No. It is very fluent the the only problem is when 1 may be missing a tag and have to re tag the animal. How do I get the data? I will give you the data via email or USB which can be imported into any brand of your eid scanner. Does it cost more? No it doesn’t, I have just added it to my services.
