14.01.2022 WYONG ORCHID SHOW 12 - 13 SEPTEMBER 2020 AT ROYALE ORCHIDS PEAT RIDGE It certainly has been difficult times for Orchid Growers and Vendors. Recently, Royale Orc...hids at Peats Ridge held a successful and Covid-19 complying Open Day and they kindly offered their venue for a mini Wyong Orchid Show to be held. Confirmation by the participating Orchid Clubs was only received yesterday and I'm delighted to advise that an AOC/OSNSW Orchid Show will be held No details at this stage other than early notification that an Orchid Show has been scheduled. Thank you Royale Orchids - and watch for further details George Oehm Chairperson Wyong Orchid Show 14th August 2020 - Royale and the Show Committee are carefully watching the events with Covid-19, but, for the moment as all is stable the Royale Open Days and the Show will proceed - but, please do watch for updates. The Show Schedule has been prepared and I will advise by 16th August as to where this can be found and downloaded

06.01.2022 A sad start to the New Year with the announcement of the passing of Alice Elinor Hipkins, the grand matriarch of Royale Orchids, wife of Roy, mother to Ray and ...Kevin and grandmother to Ray’s four sons and a great grandmother to many. Alice had a long life and passed peacefully at 9.30am on the 1st of January 2021, just 6 weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Alice loved orchids and together with her husband Roy started Royale Orchids at Woy Woy in 1953, the nursery later moved up to Peats Ridge where it still operates today. Alice loved her Cymbidiums and worked in the nursery potting up cymbidiums well into her 90’s. There were many quality orchids that featured the clonal name of ‘Alice’ throughout the nursery. Alice was an active person and always on the go, she loved baking and regularly brought fresh biscuits up to the nursery for morning tea where she was never shy to offer up an opinion and she was a formidable character who stood her ground. If you were in the ‘good books’ she was always ready to have a chat with you and she loved to reminisce about the past especially about her early married years when Roy was alive, and this always brought a smile to her face and a tear to her eye. Many of you will remember her with her puppy Trixie tucked under her arm, this is the quintessential image that will always come to my mind when I remember this great lady! See more
