25.01.2022 Making great progress! Not the latest aerial picture but still gives everyone an idea of what's happening up on the site!

25.01.2022 Gainsborough State School put on a BBQ for all of the tradies up on the site this morning to say a big 'thank you' for all the work they have put in over the course of this year. We have a fantastic team of builders getting our school ready for next year! Around 200 sausages cooked + 20 loaves of bread and 10 bags of cut onions....and a lot of sauce!

25.01.2022 Hello to the Gainsborough SS Community! Following up from last night’s alarm activation at the new school site we have confirmed the cameras are being monitored by an external company prior to being handed over to Department of Education at the completion of the build. The issue that was causing the activation last night was from the camera picking up traffic on Yawalpah Rd and after notifying the company the field of vision for that camera has been reduced. We are confiden...t the issue has been rectified. The company has also turned the volume setting down to avoid over disturbance to our neighbours if it triggers. There have been several steps put in place to ensure unnecessary activations are not causing issues in our community and I also now have a phone number to contact directly if made aware of further issues. Thanks to those residents able to notify me last night through my work mobile or this Facebook page!

24.01.2022 In order to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone attending the Gainsborough State School Open Day this coming Saturday 9th January - please ensure you are aware of and respect the following points: There will only be one entry point and another exit point both located on the carpark side of the school (Gawthern Drive side). Members of the public MUST not attend if they have COVID-19 symptoms. Please stay at home if unwell or you have a cough, fever, sore throat,... fatigue or shortness of breath. Please see school staff if you become unwell during the event. Maintaining physical distancing requirements is the individual’s responsibility. At least one person per family grouping must sign in (for contact tracing) using the QR CODE at the entry point. Entry and exit points are marked on the attached photo. Please also remember our school carpark has capacity for approximately 100 cars. Thank you for you anticipated consideration of others in this area. Parents are also reminded that extensive road works are still ongoing. Please take care to drive safely when driving to and from the school.

24.01.2022 Great News! Morning coffee is back on the menu at school for staff and parents! We have had a change in our van with Jay from Jibba Jabba Coffee coming out to school every Monday and Thursday morning. Come and grab your morning coffee on the school drop off! See you in the line!

24.01.2022 The start of 2021 is quickly approaching! This is the latest drone shot of the school - showing the incredible work the build team have been able to achieve. We will be ready for the first day of school on Wednesday 27th January!

23.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers! We are now well and truly in the thick of enrolment interviews with the numbers of interviews increasing week by week. Our plan has been to start the enrolment interviews from the senior side of the school initially due to the fact the interviews have been held offsite, at Foxwell Secondary College for the past two weeks.... We will begin interviews with our younger children from next week as well given we are moving into the new administration block as on Monday 2nd November! There are still plenty more interviews that will be held over the course of the next two - three months and our administrative staff have been busy making phone calls to book these times into our calendars. Obviously this is a huge task in managing and booking timeslots as well as making contact with all parents. Please don’t stress if you have not yet heard from us about a time we will get to all families over the course of the rest of the term. If you are still wanting to talk to someone about the proposed interviews or process you can call my mobile number 0439 417 061 or email [email protected] Please remember our focus is on contacting our ‘in catchment’ enrolments firstly. Those that sit outside our catchment boundary will be contacted later in the term when a more accurate number of enrolments is known and a decision around the capacity can be made in conjunction with other local school Principals. Thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding in this lengthy but important process!

23.01.2022 Thank you to our Community Consultation Committee for their time and input at last night’s meeting where we presented school logo options and preliminary uniform designs. We are excited to say our committee selected our school logo which we will be sharing with you all later today. We also thank our state member Michael Crandon MP for joining us and Foxwell State Secondary College for hosting us in their Learning Hub.

22.01.2022 With the proposed catchment map now released for the new school - an Expression of Interest for Enrolment in 2021 can be accessed by following the links provided in previous posts. We have also developed our own EOI for enrolment in 2021 that can be found by following this link: https://newprimaryschoolinpimpama.eq.edu.au//expression-of... There is no need to complete this EOI if you have already completed one on the department's website. If completing this EOI - please return it by email to Clay McCann on [email protected]. A member of the school administration team will then be contact with families in coming weeks to discuss next steps of potential enrolment for children in 2021. Hard copies of these forms will also be made available to local childcare centres this week.

17.01.2022 Welcome back to the new term! Only 10 more weeks until the end of the school year for 2020.....and the opening of Gainsborough State School approaching very quickly! Thank you to the many families who have completed and submitted the Expression of interest for enrolment in 2021. 17.01.2022 Some great news for our local school community! We can now confirm that we will be having an Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider for the opening of Gainsborough State School next year! More information will be coming shortly about this exciting news for our school community!

16.01.2022 A huge thank you to our students, parents, guardians and staff for your phenomenal support of our first fundraiser! Our school community did an amazing job and we raised $189 through our Crazy Sock Gold Coin Donation and $535 was raised via our Year 6 Market Day Stall. This brings the sum total of money raised for our selected charity, Camp Quality to $724. Thank you to everyone who participated and to our Year 6 Students for their hard work in creating a business plan for their stalls, marketing their products and ensuring that they selected a charity that supports children at their most vulnerable. We couldn't be prouder of our school community who once again today proved at Gainsborough SS we; Work Hard, Be Kind.

15.01.2022 With the new Gainsborough State School opening next year, it has never been more important to have safer road crossings and better flow of traffic for students ...and parents coming to and from this school. That’s why traffic lights with pedestrian crossings will be installed by City of Gold Coast as a matter of priority at two Gawthern Drive intersections at Yawalpah Road and Perger Street. Both sets of traffic lights and crossings will be fully operational in time for the gates opening for the first day of the 2021 school year! See more

All proceeds are going to Camp Quality to support their amazing work supporting children with cancer.
