25.01.2022 If you or someone you know would like to join Special Olympics, coaching is every Friday 4 - 5.30 pm and Saturday 9.30 - 11 am. Come on in and have a try. Its fun, inclusive, you will not be disappointed. We would love to see more children join so if your child would like to play a sport and finds team sports too noisy and difficult this could be for you. 14.01.2022 Hi everyone some great news regarding league bowling. The government yesterday announced that we can commence league bowling from the 1st July 2020. Galactic Tenpin will be opening from Saturday the 13th June for social bowling following NSW government guidelines with restrictions. If any of our league bowlers would like to come in for some practice prior to leagues commencing as a social bowl and practice it would be great to see everyone again. Bookings are essential.

12.01.2022 Well what a great start we have had with our Special Olympics coaching today here at Galactic Tenpin. Its been a difficult couple of weeks with the bushfires here on the Mid North Coast and the Macleay residents have been hit particularly hard in so many ways. For those that were unable to attend this week thats ok you are still very welcome to join at a later date. We will be holding our next coaching session next Friday, and again next Saturday morning. If individuals require 1:1 coaching please contact us and we can arrange for this option. We understand every disability is different and every individual is different and we will do our best to make your experience with bowling the best it can be. So please do not hesitate to ask. We look forward to seeing you all again next week and always look forward to seeing new faces.

07.01.2022 I also wanted to share this animation with everyone as I feel it captures what it is like for people that have Autism. We recognise these needs within the community for individuals and their families and we understand how difficult it can be to participate in mainstream sporting programs which are often overcrowded and noisy. We are making our Special Olympics coaching sessions sensitive to these needs. We reduce sensory overload by turning music off, having white light on, keeping group sizes small and working with individuals closely so we recognise if someone needs a break to self regulate. We encourage participants to bring along sensory equipment they may need. Our bowling program is about working with you to achieve your goals and is about participation, developing friendships and learning new skills in a sporting environment.

02.01.2022 Wow what an amazing weekend we have had at Galactic Tenpin Kempsey. This weekend we were very proud to host Kempseys FIRST Special Olympics Mid North Coast Inter-Club Bowling Competition. 61 Athletes travelled and participated from Armidale, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca, Kempsey, Port Macquarie, Taree, and Central Coast over the two day event. There was some great bowling happening and everyone had lots of fun. A huge thank you and congratulations to all the athletes for thei...r amazing participation and great sportsmanship, well done everyone we hope you had a great weekend. Also thank you to the many carers, and family members that supported and helped to make this weekend great for our Athletes, without your help many would not be able to participate in such events. Special thanks to Mid North Coast Special Olympics Committee, Dianne, Ralph, Teash, and Mary for your help in assisting to make this weekend a great success. This has been a Special Event I have wanted to bring to the Macleay Valley and one I was so very proud to be a part of, thank you. Well done to our small but extremely dedicated team at Galactic Tenpin, theres a lot of work that goes into making these events successful and Im extremely proud of the wonderful work everyone has done to help make this weekend a success.
