21.01.2022 The cubby house is here! For the first few weeks, the builders were busy cleaning up the yard from dirt and rocks. This week we can finally see substantial progress they have made since they started their work. The cubby house is here, and it already brings so much excitement and happiness for the children and our staff. It is incredible to watch the transformation of our yard! 18.01.2022 As you may have heard we are returning to Stage 4 lockdown as of 11.59pm tonight as a precautionary measure for the state of Victoria. As we provide an essential service the Victorian Government has stated that all Early Learning centres will remain OPEN during this time. At this stage we will remain OPEN and your child will be able to attend the centre unless we are advised otherwise from the Victorian Government. ... 15.01.2022 As part of acknowledging the Shrove Tuesday, also known as a Pancake Day, the children participated in a cooking experience. It was a great way to develop children's interest in cooking but also it gave us a chance to work on developing children's language, cognitive and social skills. The pancakes were delicious! 10.01.2022 This week we have celebrated NAIDOC week. We acknowledged this special time by exploring the culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The children showed a huge interest in exploring Aboriginal symbols, listening to the stories and Aboriginal music as well as learning about different Aboriginal languages of Victoria. 08.01.2022 On Saturday, our team participated in Pallet Play- team bonding experience. We were exploring new things and forcing ourselves to come out of our comfort zones. We worked very hard but also had so much fun! We ended up having new amazing resources that the children can use at Galada Kindergarten. 06.01.2022 The Y Whittlesea are celebrating their Staff and Volunteer Recognition week this week. Congratulations to Wendy Thornbury from Galada Kindergarten who won the Are you OK? Award. A new award this year for someone who has checked in with their colleagues and supported them during such a difficult year. Congratulations Wendy!

05.01.2022 Y A R D U P G R A D E Last year we were successful in obtaining a Building Blocks Improvement Grant from the Victoria School Building Authority for $50,000 to be able to upgrade the outdoor yard at Galada Kindergarten. The Y Whittlesea have also contributed to this project ensuring the plans below were able to be completed and provide an exciting new outdoor area of education and learning for our Galada Children. ... The project is due to begin around term 2 and we will keep you updated on the progress. We are extremely exciting about our new yard not being too far away!

Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates children's senses such as: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing.
