We hope 2021 can be a year for healing for anyon...e who’s gone through grief, loss, trauma, pain and hurt. 24.01.2022 1/30 Declaration. Declarations are big, scary and exciting at the same time. My declarations are to write a book on helping women heal, rise and soar from the ashes of trauma; whether that be domestic violence, family violence, any traumatic event or childhood trauma. I’ll be drawing from some of my own personal experiences of going through the ashes and soaring too. Another declaration is that I’m growing both Gallagher Psychology and my brand as a speaker, consultant and t...rainer- I’m excited about launching further trainings and courses on trauma and domestic violence having successfully trained a group of clinicians in March. 18.01.2022 2/30 What Lights Me Up. Many things light me up, but what is thrilling and makes my heart warm is when I get to meet incredible clients who show up and be brave and courageous to do the hard inner work from their trauma (ashes) so they can rise above and start to soar. What lights me up is when I witness clients shift and transform from experiencing the depths of trauma, depression and anxiety to not only overcome these, but to also thrive and become fierce and unapologetic i...n doing so, take control, removing old defences and armour that once served a function and reclaim their authentic selves. I’m grateful and honoured for helping make an impact on people’s lives and for them to let me in. 15.01.2022 Gratitude means we have and show an appreciation for things we have, things we don’t have and upcoming opportunities. Feelings of gratitude create a sense of calm. Gratitude doesn’t mean we deny or downplay any pain, hurt, frustration or other uncomfortable feelings, it’s important they are recognised, validated and named. Gratitude means that in spite of whatever we might be feeling, we are thankful. Gallagher Psychology is thankful and grateful for all clients, followers and colleagues in a year we won’t forget! We are grateful for recent practice expansion. We are grateful to hold stories and are honoured to serve the community during a hard year and provide mental health services. A big thank you to our clients, followers, colleagues and supporters in 2020.

14.01.2022 Mental health minute and Day 5 of the 30 Day livestream challenge. I discuss the differences between mindset and confidence/self worth. It’s one thing to improve mindset but it’s another to improve a deeper sense of self-worth. When working on mindset, consider doing the deeper dive into improving self-esteem. We’ve had a focus lately on confidence and creating ‘The Confidence Series’.

06.01.2022 Playing small won’t benefit you. Playing small and staying quiet will not increase your confidence and will not help with anxiety (it will only worsen it as well as make those pesky fears bigger). You can be humble and confident at the same time. Be proud of your achievements. Be proud of your ability to show up. Use your voice and be heard. You’ve got the right to take up space, you’ve got important things to say. Say them. 05.01.2022 Mental health minute- Day 6 of the 30 Day livestream challenge. Throwback Thursdays; what resources, tools, shifts helped you with a challenging year last year? I encourage you to reflect on what worked for you as part of your resilience.

01.01.2022 It’s so easy to get swept away by anxiety, worry, panic and hype. After all, it’s our survival mechanism doing what it’s supposed to do in fleeing, fighting, appeasing or freezing. Any heightened feelings of late due to the COVID-19 cases in Victoria are completely natural. What us Victorians went through in 2020 was a form of trauma. Whenever you catch yourself in a state of anxiety, learn to name and tame it, either challenge or accept it for what it is and let the anxious ...thoughts pass you by like clouds. Ground yourself with something soothing and sensory to see/feel/hear that you are safe in this moment. Have a digital detox. Be kind on yourself. This takes practice as us humans are not wired for mindfulness. We are wired to be critical and look for dangers as threats arise. The brain (and body) enter survival mode and thoughts go in a merry-go-round. Compassion, acknowledge and validate, then perspective. . . . . . #tips #strategies #mindfulness #allowthoughtstopass #clouds #nature #anxiety #selfcompassion #perspective #calm #trauma #stand #rise #soar #gallagherpsychology #melbournepsychologist #phoenixrisingwithgallagherpsychology #australia #beach See more
