12.01.2022 Just a reminder that our next FREE legal referral service day at the Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre is on 27 November 2019 from 9am-10:30am. If you need any assistance with insurance claim forms after the recent fires or need any assistance with any other legal matter, this is a good way to get a preliminary opinion from an experienced solicitor without needing to be concerned about the potential costs. Or take advantage of our offer to prepare wills, Power of Attorney or Enduring Guardian documents for Neighbourhood Centre clients at a discounted rate. Do you live in the Woolgoolga area but can't make it to the Neighbourhood Centre next Wednesday? Then give our office a call on 6642 6944 to arrange an appointment with KC Hilton, she does outcalls in the Woolgoolga and Northern beaches region by request.

11.01.2022 Did you know that injured workers in NSW can get legal advice at no cost? Many people are not aware that people who are injured at work in NSW may be eligible for a grant of funding through the Workers Compensation Independent Review Office (WIRO) for legal advice and assistance in relation to their compensation claim. The grant can include the costs of obtaining medical reports or other evidence in support of a claim as well as legal advice and assistance. K.C. Hilton of our... office is a Law Society Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury and has also been an Approved Lawyer (ASLP) for these legal funding grants since 2013. If you have been injured at work and would like information in relation to the compensation you may be eligible for, or if you have a dispute with your workers compensation insurer, contact our office on 6642 6944 to arrange an appointment with K.C. to discuss your matter. Appointments available in both Grafton and Woolgoolga. https://wiro.nsw.gov.au/injured-workers/get-legal-advice

06.01.2022 We are now offering a FREE legal referral service on the last Wednesday of every month from 9am until 10:30am at the Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre. Some of the issues that KC has been dealing with regularly through the service is assisting people with completing insurance or other claim forms, advice about how to go about commencing court proceedings and the forms required, fence disputes and notices, and estate planning information. KC is happy to answer any questions and... have a chat about any issues you have. If it's not something she can assist with, she will help you find someone that can. We also offer discounted rates for wills for Neighbourhood Centre clients which has been very popular. The next legal referral service is being held on 25 September 2019. If you would like to book in a time to see KC through the referral service to ensure availability please contact the Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre directly on 6654 1598 to arrange a convenient time slot. 03.01.2022 What is the difference between a Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardian and why do I need these when I have already prepared a will? This is a commonly asked question and many people don’t really understand the difference between each of these documents. A Power of Attorney is used to appoint someone to manage your financial affairs during your lifetime or for a specified period. An attorney can be appointed under either a general power of attorney, which will only apply whi...le you are capable of giving instructions to your attorney, or enduring power of attorney which means that the appointment will apply even if you were to lose the capacity to make decisions or provide instructions. An Enduring Guardian is a document used to appoint someone to manage your medical affairs during your lifetime. Your appointed guardian will have the ability to decide where you live, what personal services you receive, be able to communicate with your treatment providers on your behalf and to consent to medical or dental treatment being carried out if you are not capable of making those decisions for yourself. Despite popular belief, the executor of your will is not able to access your bank accounts, sell property or make medical decisions on your behalf during your lifetime unless they were to apply to the Guardianship Tribunal to be formally appointed as your attorney or guardian. These sorts of documents are most commonly required when someone is moving into aged care but many younger people like to have these documents in place in case they are injured in an accident or if they became unwell suddenly. They are not compulsory, but many people feel comforted by knowing that a person they choose will be the ones making any decisions on their behalf if something unforeseen happens to them. A Power of Attorney or Enduring Guardian document is only effective if the person making the appointment understands the consequences of the document they are signing. For this reason, its not something that you want to leave until too late. If you would like one prepared, we offer a very competitive fixed fee rate per document with discounts for pensioners. Just contact our office on 6642 6944 to arrange an appointment with one of our solicitors. Appointments are also available at Woolgoolga.

02.01.2022 Hi all, We would like to assure all our clients that we are still open for business and that all of our solicitors are available to assist with all your legal needs. We are happy to do client consultations by telephone for anyone who would like to avoid attending our office in person. We have the ability to Skype with clients who prefer a more face to face interaction without the personal contact. We also have the ability to provide documents to our clients online via a secur...e portal service or by post for review and signing when needed. We have spacious offices and at this point in time we are able to facilitate in person appointments with any clients who would still prefer to see us face to face, with the recommended social distancing observed, as long as clients are not unwell and have not been in contact with anyone who has been overseas in the last 14 days. We will update you further if there are any changes that need to be made to these options. Please rest assured that the legal services we provide will continue to be available to anyone who needs our assistance, regardless of the method of contact. If you would like to arrange a telephone or Skype consultation with one of our solicitors, just let our staff know when you book the appointment. From the team at Gallagher Solicitors & Conveyancers.
