24.01.2022 Noon Passama, '3', '4' and '5' bracelets, electroformed sterling silver and copper over a hand-carved epoxy clay base. Noon Passama is a Bangkok-born jeweller who lives and works in Amsterdam. She has exhibited in various renowned institutions and platforms, such as The Design Museum in London, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and Design Miami. Noon works across genres within jewellery and a range of diverse artistic fields more broadly. Her main interest is based on jewellery typologies in connection to broader subjects, for example, identity and language. Thanks to @johawleyjewellery for her lovely hand. @noonpassama #noonpassama #contemporaryjewellery #artjewelry #designerjewelry #silverbangle

19.01.2022 Maureen Faye-Chauhan, 'Desert Bush' pendant, 2015, heat coloured mild steel, steel cable. The forces at play in the work of Melbourne-based artist Maureen Faye-Chauhan seem sometimes to be in opposition, or running on parallel tracks, meeting only in the final wholeness of the jewellery form. Refining her designs with computer aided design and bringing their flat-packed skeletons into being with laser cutting technology, Maureen’s jewellery begins life in the abstr...act. It’s only once the bones are on her studio bench that the intensive handwork begins, as she folds and welds each tiny, perfect join; every millimetre accounted for as the forms take three dimensional shape. The twin precisions of production technology and the artist’s hand run side by side, each playing a vital role in her method. Then there are the parallel aesthetic forces of Indian and European art history as well: both are contiguous presences in Maureen’s life and both can be seen in the fine, robust graphics of her jewellery forms. Finally there is her sophisticated handling of the forces of weight and space, of interior volumes and surface structure. Each piece is a natural, unforced cohesion, each a confident expression of unity and balance. @maureenfayechauhan #maureenfayechauhan #desert #plant #mildsteel #contemporaryjewellery #artjewelry #australiancraft #australianjewellery See more

04.01.2022 New work from Carlier Makigawa, using titanium and niobium combined with silver. These pieces combine elements of her early works using wire frame devices, with her recent 'Linked' work, featuring the sensuous flow of hand-made, coloured mesh. As Helen Britton put it, "this intricate, sinuous mesh, with its roots in armour and protection, traded as a valuable along the ancient silk road, far back in time." Dr Judith O'Callaghan wrote "one of the most consistent features ...of Makigawa's work [is] an insistence on formal definition...a balance between frame and content." This is perfectly captured in these striking and elegant pieces. 02.01.2022 The highlight of today’s client appointments was meeting Oho Yama. He likes bird watching, designer furniture and cheek rubs. He also gave clear signs of approval of Kiko Gianocca‘s The Elephant on Mars ring. If you have a divine cat you’d like to introduce me to, get in touch for a personalised Covid-safe visit.
