24.01.2022 interesting idea, although the drystone wall does seem very labour intensive :)

22.01.2022 very good info about taking care of your chickens (& other poultry too!) this time of year

21.01.2022 would be awesome if we got one in WA

20.01.2022 this is great news - hemp seed is delicious and a good source of vegetarian protein

15.01.2022 There will be another blog post, but not tonight. Tonight I am doing nothing at all and recovering from Blazing Swan (which was awesome) and playing with my kittens. But I am also thinking about the genetics of apples, so there may be an actual informational research blogpost rather than just a news update :) watch this space.

15.01.2022 New blog post :) just an update, but with pictures: https://www.gallifreypermaculture.com.au///one-year-later/

13.01.2022 goes to show what you can do of you put your mind to it

12.01.2022 good idea to reduce plastic usage :)

10.01.2022 heading into summer now with the flies & the hot weather, but there are still a few markers of spring..

09.01.2022 I admire what this farmer is trying to do. I don't know that I could do it, but I think this is where farming needs to go

09.01.2022 chickens are definitely not vegetarian. little.dinosaurs :)

04.01.2022 shame we don't have a creek. it's a good idea though :)

04.01.2022 Today's achievements: (1) Moved the duck house to combine the duck & goose houses, since they're all flocking together nicely now anyway. It'll give them all some more space when they have to stay locked in for the day (when we know we'll be home late). And we added some new bedding on the floor as well, since with the rain the last few days their pens had turned into mud-wallows. (2) The three cockerels from the last hatch (which have started crowing at 4am, unlike the grow...n up roosters who wait for 6ish) are isolated and ready to.. er.. meet a sudden and hopefully stress-free end this afternoon. No more 4am crowing, and three birds for the freezer :) (3) The quince paste is in the oven finishing off the setting process. I didn't quite cook it long enough for it to set without some additional low oven drying time, but the bit (from the edges) which has already set is delicious. And in case you missed it, I did post a blog post last week: https://www.gallifreypermaculture.com.au//fruit-trees-fro/

03.01.2022 Sorry about the lack of updates recently, day job gets in the way of updating FB & the blog. Things are going well, though - the trees have all survived the summer, and the nectarines & peaches we put in last spring have started fruiting already (ate our first Golden Queen peach yesterday, and it was delicious). We have a collection of Moringa oleifera and carob seedlings sprouted, which will go into the ground once they're a bit bigger, and plans to put in some more pecans a...nd almonds in spring. Hatched 8 muscovy ducklings, of which we lost one to a predator. There are few boys in the group, so there will probably be some duck casseroles over winter, but more than half girls which is nice. Photos soon. I promise.
