19.01.2022 "They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow, They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grown not old, as we that are left grow old:... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." Laurence Binyon (1869-1943) See more

10.01.2022 Mike's passion for Gallipoli began in 1967 when an extended motorbike trip overland to India and Singapore was curtailed in Turkey due to a mechanical fault. Following the 1967 trip Mike made a further nine visits to Gallipoli. During his visits he has immersed himself in the immediate area, walked the battlefields and made many friends amongst the Turkish community. Gallipoli 100 Years is an amazing read. It is the result of one man's passion & desire to bring this part of our history to as many people as he can.

08.01.2022 The book is excellent. The Gallipoli Campaign has been tackled in a distinct and different perspective from other books. The combination of a detailed wide study of the campaign with an up to date tour guide of the battlefields is unique. The amount of material collated is vast and the way it has been pulled together works very well. The maps, diagrams and aerial photographs leave others to shame. I would have loved to have had the book 25 years ago when I first started the ...Plaque Project and struggled with the topography. At that time it was forbidden to fly over the Peninsula, nor could W Beach be visited, then part of a restricted military area. The ‘asides’ are used very effectively and make for interesting reading. I would recommend the book to those seeking to know or have a fuller understanding of Gallipoli and the Campaign, and for those who are contemplating or planning a visit.
