22.01.2022 We had very special visitors to school today, Mrs Betty Black (nee Kerr) and her daughter Elizabeth. Mrs Black made the trip from Geelong to present the school with a silver cup she won in 1937 at the Combined Schools Sports Carnival held at Narrandera. Mrs Black attended GPS from 1937 for 10 years. She lived near the showground with her aunt and uncle Mr & Mrs F. Wray. She fondly remembers her first day of school as there was a bullock wagon pulled up out the front of the sc...hool laden with wool! She said she enjoyed school and sport and made many friends. Mrs Black said she had a very good education that helped her go on to be a nurse. She went on to become a community/district nurse and enjoyed nursing so much she retired when she was 71. Mrs Black loved our scones and was delighted to be part of a special assembly and a look around the school. See more
