20.01.2022 Here's a gorgeous photo of bride Heather Sartain, sent by her mother Alison McLean, who writes: "When my daughter and her fiancé met and married in Mount Isa thirty-odd years ago, they decided to hold their wedding there. Heather sent me a photo from a bridal magazine of the dress she would like and asked me to buy the material. "There was a good dressmaker in Mount Isa to make it for her. What to do! I took the photo to Gardams Fabrics and asked for their help. The experienc...ed saleslady looked at it for a minute or so then said 'We can do that. You'll need six metres of this and three metres of that, etc.' "She cut the material, made a parcel with brown paper tied with string, and sent it to Mount Isa for me. And thanks also to the talented dressmaker, this beautiful dress is the result." Heather and Charlie were married 30 October 1987.

18.01.2022 This year marks 90 years in business for Queensland bridal fabrics store Gardams Fabrics,. What started as a silk store on Edward Street has grown to become a h...ousehold name, supplying fabrics and designing dresses for thousands of brides. From the drapes of the 1930s, lace and flower crowns of the 1970s and the big sleeves and glamour of the 1980s, Gardams have seen it all! Thanks to Dorothy and Ewan Gardam for sharing their story at our I Do! exhibition. So tell us! Were you a Gardams bride? Post your photos and memories below! 15.01.2022 Julie Orr's mum Gail Orr made her bridesmaids and flower girls dresses in Gardams Fabrics 27 years ago to match Julie's Gardams dress. Then, when Julie sold her gown a couple of years later, it was bought by another (unrelated) Julie Orr! #GardamsBrides

15.01.2022 A Gardam's wedding frock recreated!! This beautiful bride is Libby Leander Scharf (in 2014), she found a gorgeous Gardams 1970's wedding gown in a second hand ...shop and we set about recreating and 'upcycling' the bodice for a more modern look - I was able to source matching silk from Gardams Fabrics and reuse lace and embroidered features (there was plenty of fabric in those 70's sleeves!) and it worked out a treat, she looked stunning! The fabric is gorgeous silk and still in perfect condition all these years later :) See more
