22.01.2022 Kikuyu, Makes for a lovely lawn but is horribly hard to remove when it is not wanted somewhere. I find a sharp dug edge and regular maintenance with a line trimmer is the best way to keep on top of it. Just like you see in the Main Street gardens in photo 4 here.

20.01.2022 Delicately removing the weeds today. Finding and potting up many beautiful little self seeded lettuce babies. The beds are now nice and prepared for their planting soon

11.01.2022 Hi guys I’m Bridie, I’m passionate about plants and gardening. I run my own small business offering domestic garden maintenance and care. Looking forward to sharing my love of gardening life with you

09.01.2022 Pruning deciduous fruit trees. The stone fruits in this orchid were at bud swelling stage, a preferable stage to prune over full dormancy. It means the sap flow is being to move, which will help the pruning cuts heal faster, as stone fruit can be prone to die back. These trees also received a spray with a copper sulphate solution to prevent leaf curl. The pomes, that’s the apples, pears and quince trees are quite happy to be pruned now in the middle of winter. I will do a c...opper sulphate spray for them at green tip stage to prevent fungal and bacterial diseases like brown spot. Iv pruned all trees to keep size and shape manageable, for ease when it comes to netting. To open up the overall structure, allowing light and air flow which will help in preventing pest and disease. Removing unwanted branches to allow room for the next seasons growth whilst leaving a good amount of second year wood and spurge growth to ensure a healthy amount of summer fruits next year. Fruit tree pruning is a job that I thoroughly enjoy doing.
