12.01.2022 #GardensbySALT has completed the therapy garden at The Sargent's Centre Disability Unit in Blacktown. Another successful project in collaboration with #ediblekidsgardens. The garden was designed on interlocking soothing circles with a central path designed for wheelchair users and each circle linked by textural paths. Timber sections in the path denote the start, middle (leading to the gum branch tunnel planted with climbing purple beans) and the end of the path. A deco grani...te circle was the basis for the salvaged brick planters planted with vegetable and herbs. Thanks to #lennybender. A pergola will soon be cloaked in climbers for summer shade. Sensory play boards are accessible along the main path. The grass path mounded on each sides and planted with natives is already becoming a haven for birds and butterflies. Wind chimes and bells along the way all contribute to the sensory journey. #therapygarden #sensorygarden See more

10.01.2022 Please Lord, deliver unto me a concreter who doesn't sound like a) they have gone seven rounds with a baseball bat or b) like they have been been drinking around the clock since Anzac Day. It's not such a big ask...is it?

09.01.2022 Brief: A small Paddington courtyard redesigned with a 'witchy' vibe. We used salvaged wrought iron gates, foraged branches to make the arbour and log stepping stones infilled with dichondra and pennyroyal. A hardwood corner bench sits under a weeping silver birch. Planting wise we used Hebes (named after the witch goddess) moonflower, rue, rosemary, sage and valerian. Biblical jasmine, evergreen clematis and the purple veined parthonocissus ivy will soon cloak the arbour and ...soften the walls. In the shadier garden amongst others, we planted black buglewort, the bat plant, silver heucheras, and hymenocallis (all in the name). A dark purple magnolia will soon be in bloom. The walls were revamped from the terracotta in the 'before' photo to a silver grey and an earthy mushroom. I'll revisit in the spring to see this seasonal space burst into life. See more

07.01.2022 I love it when a client takes the plunge of getting rid of vacant badly growing piece of lawn and has the foresight to turn it into a veggie and herb garden. This front sloped plot will soon be home to an array of fruit, herb and vegetables that will get everyone on the street involved in watching it grow and sharing in its bounty. Way to go Ms Douglas!!
