21.01.2022 Artist Mark Rosenbrock, aka Captain Carver, makes his mark through large scale wood carvings and chainsaw sculptures, we have two pieces of his work at our beautiful Gardens Caravan Park, the Southern Right Whale and the Playful Seal Pups Mark is currently working on a Dancing Dolphin sculpture, to be followed by a Native Animal creation As we up-cycle large Cypress Pine Tree Stumps from ancient trees gone by, Mark sets his scaffolding and takes to the trunks with his ...chainsaw to carve away the wood and create incredible sculpture artwork. He describes himself as 'hypo...lol... nah.. seriously hypio' and his bright smile is welcoming! The best thing about working at Gardens Caravan Park is "helping guests enjoy the park and being 100 metres from East Beach! ...going to enjoy an after work surf in summer" In his spare time he loves to 'attempt' to surf with his three daughters at East Beach and snorke...l at Pea Soup With three teenage daughters, his favourite drink is something strong! If he were an ice-cream flavour it would be 'anything red' (which may contribute to his hyperactivity) and if he were to test his voice at Karaoke he would belt out anything by John Farnham "my 3 teenage girls laugh and get embarrassed of me of singing ‘olden days’ songs better than Tik Tok right!" 14.01.2022 With record rainfall about the state of Victoria last week, the great south west was exceptional. Rising water was experienced by many, our thoughts are with those effected and our thank you to the SES and other volunteer crews who were out to sand bag and evacuate. Waters are subsiding, dams are full, pastures and gardens are watered to say the least! We are looking forward to more Spring sunshine to watch mother nature flourish ... Pictured the Hopkins Falls normally 90 metres wide, plunging 12 metres over dark basalt rocks. The Hopkins Falls is a 15 km drive from Warrnambool. 13.01.2022 The Port Fairy Lighthouse was built in 1859 on what was then Rabbit Island. This later became part of Griffith Island. The light is over 12 metres above high watermark and its visibility to seaward is 20 kilometres. The Lighthouse walk is a tranquil and picturesque walk easy for all ages, you can even ride your bike ...for the more adventurous you can continue on and loop Griffith Island. The walk is approximately 5km and takes an hour to complete.
